Chapter 173 The Past of Angel's Haven Orphanage

Jacob stared at Catherine, his lips barely moving. "I don't get what you're saying. Seriously, I've never seen you before. And Oliver? I barely know the guy."

Timothy, seeing Jacob's stubbornness, got pissed off.

Jacob had been stuck in Ironclad Jail for so long that even Timothy couldn't always get what he wanted out of him.

But Jacob knew way too many secrets for Timothy to just kill him off.

Timothy stormed over and yanked Jacob off the bed. "Are you gonna talk or not? Don't think letting you live this long means I respect you!"

Jacob coughed hard, his face pale, but he managed a smile. "Timothy, I really don't know what she's talking about. How do you want me to answer?"

Catherine said calmly, "Ethan's on his way here. Looks like he's planning a jailbreak."

Jacob's eyes went wide. 'That idiot Ethan! How could he think of breaking into the jail!'

Timothy dropped Jacob, the veins on his hand bulging. "This is the first time I've heard of someone trying to break into Ironclad Jail. Sounds fun!"

Alexander chuckled. "Timothy, haven't a bunch of people tried to break in before?"

Timothy shot him a glare. "Shut up!"

Timothy wanted to look tough in front of Catherine, but Alexander just had to ruin it.

Timothy sneered at Jacob. "Do you know what happened to those who tried to break in before? My chair's made from their heads!"

Timothy's chair was covered in gems, all the loot from those who tried to break in!

Catherine said calmly, "It's ugly. Your taste sucks."

If anyone else had said Timothy's stuff was ugly, they'd probably end up as chair stuffing, but when Catherine said it, Timothy just grinned. "Elodie said my taste was bad too. You're right. Totally right."

Catherine's gaze landed on Jacob. Her look was so cold and clear, it made Jacob, who was used to living on the edge, feel uneasy.

Catherine raised her chin, looking at Jacob. "You don't want to die."

No one who wanted to die would still be reading in their cell. Jacob's glasses were busted, with one leg and one lens missing. Someone who still read like that didn't want to die.

Jacob chuckled. "Miss, no one wants to die, but since I'm in Ironclad Jail, I never thought I'd leave alive."

"True, I see Ethan cares a lot about Matthew, so when he comes to break in, he might as well bring Matthew along. The three of you can die together," Catherine said.

Jacob's fist clenched on his knee. "What do you want? Ethan and Matthew are innocent! They don't know anything about what you're asking!"

Catherine snapped her fingers. "Tell me who ordered you to replace me, and whose kid was swapped with mine?"

Catherine checked her watch. "Oh, and to make sure your brothers aren't too dumb to find your cell, I shared the coordinates with them. Wanna guess if you'll see them alive or dead soon?"

Jacob looked at Catherine in disbelief! He'd stayed calm because he thought Ethan couldn't find him. "Why are you doing this?"

Catherine shrugged. "Well, now their lives are in your hands, not mine."

Jacob was quiet for a moment, wiped his glasses, and put them back on. He closed his eyes, his voice shaking a bit. "I can't give you the details. If I do, I'm dead too. Honestly, in Ironclad Jail, I'm safer. That's why I let myself get caught when dealing with Eli."

To Jacob, Ironclad Jail was safer than the outside world!

Catherine looked at Jacob seriously. "I can cure your illness."

Jacob turned to look at her, frowning.

"I have cured Matthew's illness, so I can cure you too. Tell me the truth, and I'll let you live," Catherine said.

That was a huge temptation!

Timothy looked at Catherine in surprise. "Catherine, isn't Jacob faking his illness?"

Catherine ignored Timothy, her gaze fixed on Jacob. "If I'm not mistaken, you have a severe blood disease. Protruding eyes with green tumors, swollen lymph nodes, bruises on your arms, and lying in bed for a long time due to joint pain. Am I right?"

Jacob had acute leukemia!

Timothy was shocked. "I didn't see that!"

He thought Jacob was just beaten up too much, lying in bed every day to recover, spitting blood and bruises. Every prisoner in Ironclad Jail was like that.

Catherine glanced at him lightly. "That's because you're too dumb."

"You're right. I didn't think that much. Luckily, you noticed!" Timothy said.

Alexander found it amusing to see Timothy so submissive.

Only Catherine could make the formidable Timothy lower his stance so much!

Catherine looked at Jacob. "Acute leukemia doesn't let you live long. If you want to die, it won't be long."

She stood up and yawned. "If you don't want to talk, I'll go entertain your brothers."

Seeing Catherine about to leave, Jacob couldn't hold on any longer and spoke up, "Wait! I can tell you part of it. You're smart. Even if I don't say the rest, you can figure it out."

Catherine turned back and sat down in the chair again.

"Can you really cure my illness? And spare Ethan and Matthew..." Jacob asked.

"Don't worry. If what you say satisfies me, I'll let you live!"

Jacob licked his dry, cracked lips.

"I really don't know you, but since you mentioned Oliver, you must be the child of the Windsor Family. Back then, I got an order saying Aurora from the Windsor Family would come to my hospital to give birth and that I should send her to Angel's Haven Orphanage. I set a fire at Vinehill Hospital, burning a lot of equipment. On the day Aurora gave birth, I gave the Windsor Family's child to Celeste. Celeste didn't know the child's identity, but her child wasn't Oliver's. I promised to keep her secret and gave her two hundred thousand dollars."

Jacob fell into recollection. "As for the child Aurora took away, it was an orphan adopted by Angel's Haven Orphanage. I don't know her identity either. That child was a few days older than you. Newborns look very similar, and they didn't notice anything unusual. Years ago, the Windsor Family brought their daughter for a paternity test. I gave them a false result. As for Oliver, he came to me just to ask what happened back then. He probably found out you weren't his child at that time. I told him it was a mistake at the hospital."

Catherine looked at Jacob, slightly curling her lips. "You're lying. If you didn't know the child's identity, why did you choose her out of all the orphans? I don't believe there are any coincidences in your story!"
