Chapter 228 Joining Forces Against Catherine and Alexander
Ezekiel broke out in a cold sweat instantly.
To them, Alexander was just a clueless kid who'd be nothing without Felix.
"How did Alexander dare? Could it be that Felix found out? No way!" Ezekiel muttered.
'We've done plenty of shady stuff over the years, and Felix might have known but chose to ignore it. Could it be that Felix can't stand us making a move against Catherine?' Ezekiel thought, drenched in sweat, but he calmed down as he looked at the photos on his phone.
In the photos, Santino had been injured in the thigh, and it looked like it was beyond saving!
The middle-aged man next to Ezekiel asked, confused, "Ezekiel, did Felix get involved in this? Or was it the Windsor Family?"
"If it really was the Windsor Family and Felix, Santino and I would just have to accept our bad luck! Go find Tiberius and ask him how to fix this!" Ezekiel said.
'I chose this moment to make a move against Alexander because Tiberius told me to! If Tiberius hadn't said that Alexander is recently injured and now is the best time to deal with him, I wouldn't have been so foolish.' After thinking it over, Ezekiel decided to call Tiberius himself.
"Ezekiel, I only told you to make a move against Alexander, not to touch Catherine." Tiberius had a sickly smile on his face. "After all, Catherine is someone I'm interested in too. If you guys made a move against her, I wouldn't be happy either."
Ezekiel sneered, "Don't pretend you didn't know we would go after Catherine. If you think Santino and I will be your scapegoats, no way!"
Tiberius shrugged and stretched. "I really didn't know. I wanted you to take out Alexander so that his engagement with Catherine would be voided. It would be a good thing for both you and me."
The Howard Family's desire to eliminate Alexander and take his place was obvious.
What Tiberius wanted was that engagement!
Ezekiel frowned and said, "Engagement? It seems Catherine is quite something to catch the interest of someone like you."
Catherine did have some charm, enough to captivate both Alexander and Tiberius!
Tiberius smiled. "So, do you want to keep working with me? I want Catherine, and you want control of the Howard Family. It's a win-win."
Ezekiel was tempted, thinking, 'Tiberius's power in the circle is not to be underestimated. If I can join forces with him, taking down Alexander is not impossible. Once I gain control of the Howard Family, what can the Windsor Family do to me?'
Tiberius added the final piece of persuasion. "Besides, Santino getting into trouble is also good for you."
"What do you mean? Santino is my brother. No matter what, it's our family business, and it's not for an outsider like you to meddle!" Ezekiel said.
Tiberius smirked, "But if Santino gets into trouble now, no one will suspect you. One less brother means one less competitor. Don't you get it?"
'There are only so many shares. If I have to give some to Santino, how much will I have left?' Ezekiel wondered, but didn't relent. "That's my business, not yours! If you want to work with me, show some sincerity!"
"Okay." After hanging up the phone, Tiberius turned to the person next to him. "If we go after Alexander, what are our chances?"
Ethan, munching on an apple, almost spat it out. "Who? You called me here to take out Alexander? Tiberius, you're too ruthless! Alexander's the one who broke my leg!"
'Asking me to go after Alexander now is like signing my own death warrant. Jumping off a building might be quicker than facing him,' Ethan thought.
Tiberius raised an eyebrow. "Don't you want to avenge the Abyssal Blades?"
Ethan finished his apple and wiped his mouth carelessly. He shook his head. "On the border, we don't care about that!"
If Ethan really wanted revenge, he wouldn't know how many people to go after every day. The Abyssal Blades had too many enemies to count.
Besides, Alexander did go after the Abyssal Blades for revenge.
In the end, Ethan had underestimated the strength of the Shadow Syndicate!
Tiberius continued to persuade Ethan. "If you really didn't want revenge, you wouldn't have come when your boss called you."
"My boss called, so of course, I came. Otherwise, I'd be waiting for him to chop me up!" Ethan thought Tiberius was an idiot. Since Ethan had the chance to hang out in Imperia City, of course, he would come!
"I'll find an opportunity to weaken Alexander, and then you can make your move," Tiberius said.
Ethan had no objections to this and sneered inwardly as he closed his eyes to rest. 'That is, if Tiberius really has the power to deal with Alexander!'
Tiberius went over the plan in his head and, after confirming it was flawless, smirked, "I need to get discharged quickly, or I'll miss the start of the semester and my chance to see her. Ethan, you can go ahead with the arrangements from last time."
Ethan pouted. "Matthew has already taken care of it! You really are ruthless, always thinking of underhanded schemes."
Tiberius shrugged. "As long as it works, it's a good plan."
Ezekiel put down the phone, a fine sheen of cold sweat on his forehead.
The middle-aged secretary beside him bowed. "Sir, a lady is here to see you. She claims to be an old acquaintance."
"Bring her in," Ezekiel was used to people coming to him for favors, so he didn't think much of it.
A woman in a fitted dress, adorned with somewhat cheap jade accessories, walked in on high heels. Despite her age, she still retained a certain charm and some of her former beauty.
Ezekiel stood up immediately, frowning. "Celeste? What are you doing here?"
They hadn't seen each other in years, and now at the sight of Ezekiel, Celeste's eyes welled up with tears! "Ezekiel, I haven't been able to forget you all these years."
Ezekiel quickly had Celeste sit next to him. "Aren't you married? How have you been all these years?"
Hearing Ezekiel's concerned words, Celeste burst into tears! She wiped her tears and looked pitifully at one of her former lovers, Ezekiel, who was the wealthiest among the men she had been involved with.
If she had known back then that Ezekiel was part of the Howard Family, she would never have married Oliver!
This time, she was determined to hold on to Ezekiel!
