Chapter 204 Esme Provoked Emilia and Got Beaten

Alexander gently pulled back the curtain in Catherine's room. He leaned against the balcony, surrounded by potted plants that Aurora had carefully picked out. Each flower was in full bloom, showing off its vibrant life. The sweet scent of the flowers mixed with a strange smell, making Catherine frown a bit.

"I was passing by and wanted to see you. You looked busy, so I didn't want to bother you," Alexander said, looking visibly tired with a lazy smile.

The indoor light was blocked by the curtains, making Alexander look even more mysteriously alluring under the moonlight. Catherine stepped closer to him, standing by the window.

"You've got your own career, and I've got to be busy for a while too. The Howard Group's got a bunch of mergers and acquisitions going on. If I didn't come to see you, would you miss me?" he asked.

The Howard Group had so much going on, with piles of documents to sign every day. It made sense that Alexander was busy.

"I'll try," Catherine said.

Alexander smiled, satisfied. "That's good. When I'm done, I want to tell you a story."

"What story?" she asked.

"The story of our first meeting! You might have forgotten, but I remember it all!" Alexander said, giving Catherine a deep look, reaching out as if to touch her face, but then pulling his hand back.

"Good night." Alexander turned and left, quickly climbing down the balcony. The sound of a car engine starting up echoed in the night.

Alexander glanced back at Catherine's room, the balcony surrounded by roses, like something out of a fairytale.

The smile on Alexander's face vanished, replaced by a cold, frosty look. He said in a deep voice, "Let's go."

"Sir, aren't you going to tell Ms. Windsor where you're going?" Annie asked.

"No need. If Catherine cares about me, she'll be concerned about whatever I do. If she doesn't, it's better that she doesn't worry," Alexander said, hoping Catherine would have sweet dreams tonight, without a single worry about him.

At the hospital, in a private ward.

Esme, leaning on a crutch, finally found Emilia's room and sneaked in while the nurse wasn't looking.

Esme smiled cruelly as she saw Emilia lying in bed. "Ms. Hughes, did you ever think you'd end up like this?"

Emilia put down the comic book she was reading and looked up at Esme. "I don't consider you a person, so you really don't act like one, do you?"

Esme didn't expect Emilia to still have the guts to mock her in this state, sneering, "Do you really think you're still the high and mighty daughter of the Hughes family? The Hughes family is bankrupt! You're lying in bed, unable to get up, and you might even be disfigured! You're worse off than me now! I'm the princess!"

Emilia raised an eyebrow, sarcastically saying, "Princess? I've never seen a lame, ugly princess before."

Esme was so angry she wanted to slap Emilia. But remembering her purpose, she suppressed her anger and jealousy, wondering why Emilia, in this state, still trampled on her dignity. "Emilia, you'd better wise up! Contact Blade of Dusk and get my dad out! And if the Hughes Family has any hidden assets, you must give me a share!"

Emilia knew exactly why Esme was here. She crossed her arms and raised her chin arrogantly. "Lloyd got caught because he was both greedy and stupid. Clearly, you inherited his intelligence. The members of Blade of Dusk are either dead or in prison. How am I supposed to get in touch with them?"

Blade of Dusk did have some remaining forces under Emilia's control, but she wasn't about to admit that. "As for the Hughes Family's money, isn't Anthony still alive? Go find him; you'll get it faster than coming to me. Otherwise, if you're too late, you might miss out."

No one knew how long Anthony would live. Emilia worried Esme might not reach him in time to deliver the fatal blow. Not seeing Anthony's death would be a bit of a pity.

Esme's eyes shifted as she thought, 'Even if the Hughes Family is bankrupt, they should still have some savings. Anthony must have money! As long as Anthony hands over the money, my life in Imperia City will be secure.'

Esme stepped closer to Emilia, her eyes full of malice. "I've hated you for a long time! What gives you the right to humiliate me like that in the Hughes family?"

Esme raised her hand to slap Emilia, but her wrist was suddenly grabbed by another cold hand. "It hurts!" Esme screamed.

George's face was icy, and with a forceful grip, Esme's wrist made a cracking sound—the sound of bones dislocating!

"George, how can you hit me? Let go of me!" Esme shouted.

George threw Esme aside, and as she hit the ground, the sound of more bones cracking echoed. Esme cried out in pain, tears streaming down her face.

The fire hadn't caused her major injuries, but now George's actions made her feel like her bones were breaking. "I'm going to report you! George, you'll be fired for hitting me!" Esme shouted.

George looked coldly at Esme. "Honestly, I really want to hit you. Sometimes, being an ethical doctor is exhausting. When you succeed in reporting me, I'll personally break every bone in your body." His words were cold and full of killing intent, making Esme swallow her words.

George closed the door and turned to look at Emilia, who had been watching him. "Are you an idiot? She was going to hit you, and you didn't dodge?"

"She can't beat me, I'm from Blade of Dusk..." Seeing George's anger, Emilia blinked and changed her words. "Okay, next time."

"There won't be a next time." George rubbed his temples and sent a few messages on his phone. "Esme won't bother you anymore. My family put up with her because of her grandmother. Later, we realized she was a backstabber, always coveting Catherine and Juniper's things." Fortunately, the Windsor Family realized it in time.

"Didn't you say you were interested in electrocardiograms? I brought you some authoritative literature!" George said seriously.

Emilia looked at the literature placed beside her, her mouth twitching. Emilia looked at George and suddenly asked, "George, are all the kids in your family smart?"

George nodded. "Yes, Richard is the dumbest, so he became an actor."

"Doesn't your mom play favorites?"

George looked at Emilia, puzzled. "Favorites? My mom accepted my dad with his intelligence, and Richard is much smarter than my dad!"

Emilia covered her head with the literature, muttering to herself, "Mrs. Windsor is such a good mom, but her sons aren't too bright."

'Am I really interested in electrocardiograms?' Emilia thought.
