Chapter 119 The Biggest Regret Was Marrying You!

Andrew stared at the distraught Lila standing in front of him. He'd been tagging along with Marcus for years and had seen their whole journey together.

Over the years, tons of people had told Marcus to think about getting a divorce because Lila was just too disgraceful! While in the military district, Lila had the nerve to try and set up a female officer with her own nephew. The only reason the officer didn't blow up was out of respect for Marcus, almost causing a huge scene. And she even sneaked stuff out of the military district to help out her own family! Marcus's divorce papers got approved in no time, mostly because of Lila's antics.

"Has Marcus lost his mind? We've been married for so many years! I need to call Brandon!" Lila whipped out her phone and dialed Brandon.

As soon as the call connected, Lila's tears started flowing; she was genuinely freaking out! "Brandon, has Marcus lost his mind? He actually wants to divorce me!"

Brandon was just taking over Marcus's wheelchair from Catherine and heading into The Windsor Mansion. "That's good news. Don't worry, after the divorce, I'll send you to Novia for rehab. They have the best nursing home there. I've also arranged for Esme to attend Novia University so she can focus on her studies."

'They really want to kick me and Esme out!' Lila thought, panicking. "No, Marcus can't do this to me. I'm your mother, and you're my son. You have to stand by me! You can't let Marcus bully me like this! You ungrateful man!"

Brandon had been worn down by Lila over the years and had little patience left. "Mom, sometimes I wonder how you became like this. You weren't like this when I was little."

Brandon's offhand comment unexpectedly set Lila off. "What do you mean? Are you saying I'm not your mother? I've always been like this. If you think someone else is better, go find those cheap women to be your mother! No matter how bad I am, I'm still happier than some people!"

'What did she mean by 'some people'?' Brandon wondered, feeling a headache coming on, and didn't want to argue with Lila any further. "Mom, stop being unreasonable. The divorce papers are already stamped. Whether you sign them or not doesn't matter. Your marriage with Dad is over. Don't worry, I'll take good care of you. I'll send you to Novia tomorrow."

The date on the divorce papers was from last month. It was last month that Marcus had prepared to divorce her!

Lila gritted her teeth and said viciously, "Marcus, are you really going to go through with this? Do you want the kids to hate you? You'll regret treating me like this one day!"

Marcus snorted coldly, "Regret? My biggest regret is marrying you!"

"Fine, you finally said what you really feel. You're still thinking about that bitch Elodie Smith, aren't you?"

Marcus got angry. "Why are you bringing up Elodie? Stop talking nonsense. I don't want to say another word to you! Tomorrow, you and Esme are going to Novia, or you can go back to the countryside!"

'He actually wants to send me back to the countryside to suffer? Just because I mention that short-lived bitch Elodie!' Lila thought.

Catherine's eyes flickered slightly and she thought, 'The Elodie Smith that Lila mention has the same name as my grandma? It is probably a coincidence. There are many people with the same name back then. I have never heard Grandma mention she knows anyone from the Windsor family, so it probably has nothing to do with Marcus.'

Marcus angrily hung up the phone, fuming, "Can you believe she's lost her mind?"

Felix, standing nearby, sneered, "Serves you right for what you did to Elodie back then. It's karma."

"How did I wrong Elodie? When I got back from my mission, Elodie was already in trouble. I walked into a house full of blood. Why am I even telling you this? Why don't you go back to your own home? This is my house!" Marcus snapped.

Aurora quickly jumped in, "Marcus, you're being discharged today. I had the kitchen whip up some food for you. I invited Felix and Alexander over so we can all have a meal together and celebrate."

Marcus's eyes welled up with tears at the mention of a family meal, but he still couldn't help but be sharp-tongued. "Who says he's our family? Catherine hasn't agreed to marry into their family yet! Catherine, you're still young. Focus on your studies first. Take your time getting to know each other. If it doesn't work out, you can always back out."

Catherine's mouth twitched.

Felix chimed in, "Is Alexander not good enough? No worries, Catherine, you can meet my other grandsons. They're all great! If Alexander doesn't work out, there's always the next one!"

Marcus and Felix started bickering again without a second thought.

If it weren't for the two in wheelchairs, they might have started a fight right then and there.

Catherine met Alexander's helpless yet slightly amused gaze and found the scene both noisy and heartwarming.

"Should you send Felix home?" Catherine suggested.

"It's just me and Grandpa at home. Can't you just put up with us for a bit?" Alexander said.

Catherine didn't really want to kick them out, especially since Aurora and Brandon had invited them. She didn't want to upset the elders.

Taking advantage of everyone's attention being on Marcus and Felix, Alexander walked over to Catherine, took her hand, and wrapped her small hand in his warm palm, holding it tightly.

"Let go," Catherine said.

"Just holding hands, consider it the fare for the ride earlier?" Alexander said.

Catherine was a bit exasperated. "Is this how your company charges now?"

Alexander's eyes held a deep, abyss-like gaze as he looked at Catherine. His eyes never left her! "I don't mind using other methods. Last night was pretty good."

Speaking of last night, even though they hadn't done anything, Catherine's face still turned slightly red at his words.

She glared at Alexander, puffing up like a little hamster.

Charles walked between them, pulling them apart, one on each side.

Alexander's smile froze instantly! Watching Charles walk away with Catherine, Alexander felt for the first time that the Windsor family had too many brothers. Originally, he thought having more people to love her was a good thing, but now it seemed like more people were competing with him for his fiancée!

The meal was particularly lively. Grace went back to the lab to continue her research, so Samuel was brought over by Aurora to stay with them.

The three elders got so excited that they almost started a fight, with none willing to back down.

After dinner, Marcus pulled Catherine to play chess. "Catherine, I couldn't solve the chess problem you left me last time. Tell me how to solve it!"

Samuel sneered, "Pathetic, you're in your seventies and still can't beat a kid at chess."

"Samuel, come here. I don't believe you can beat Catherine at chess! Catherine, if you beat Samuel, I'll give you a company to play with!" Marcus said.
