Chapter 324 Catherine Angrily Confronts Beck
Catherine showing up here to help the Howard family was all because of Alexander!
Beck raised an eyebrow, his gaze carrying a hint of something deeper, but after a moment, he just smiled lightly.
"Catherine, when a guy from the Howard family falls in love, he's in it for life. You need to think this through. If you and Alexander don't end up together, he might lose his mind.”
"I'm not planning on regretting this."
Beck continued, "Aren't you scared? What if you end up making the same mistakes?"
Catherine stared at Beck, who exuded an artistic aura mixed with a touch of melancholy.
"Scared, so I shouldn't choose him? Mr. Howard, are you saying you didn't choose Alexander because you were scared?”
Catherine's gaze was resolute.
"You think everything you did was for Alexander's good, watching him grow up alone from the shadows. Was that out of fear?"
This question left Beck speechless!
He was indeed scared!
After Vivienne left, he investigated the whole situation and discovered forces that the Howard family couldn't contend with.
It was then that Beck learned about the Galactic Aurora Collective plan and went to the border alone.
The more he investigated, the more terrified he became.
He even started to fear that if the Howard family's downfall was inevitable, his closeness with Alexander might one day harm him too.
Catherine's eyes turned cold.
"Mr. Howard, you are making excuses for yourself because you don't love Alexander enough. You only loved your wife, and because you were afraid of losing again, you chose not to get close."
To Catherine, Beck's excuses were just that—excuses. He hadn't chosen Alexander or his two brothers.
To him, elderly parents and young children didn't matter.
Catherine, as an outsider, didn't want to judge Beck's actions with more words.
She would use her actions to choose the person she wanted to choose!
Catherine's gaze passed over the crowd and landed on Alexander, who was also looking at her. Their eyes met, and she saw a radiant smile on his face.
Catherine smiled.
"I'm not scared! I've never been scared! Besides, I can protect myself. Even if the Howard family is a den of dragons and tigers, they can't do anything to me."
"Mr. Howard, you didn't protect your loved one. I'm not like you! I'm not like anyone you know!"
Catherine wasn't Paloma, nor was she Vivienne!
She came here and chose Alexander simply because she liked him, nothing more!
Seeing George and Emilia embrace, Catherine felt the happiness of witnessing it from a bystander's perspective.
In that moment, the person she thought of was Alexander!
Instincts don't lie.
Catherine chuckled softly, her eyes filled with unprecedented tenderness.
"Mr. Howard, you're not trying to make me back off, you're worried about Alexander, right? Don't worry, I'll protect him. With me around, no one can hurt him, not even you as a family elder."
Beck's face flushed with embarrassment!
He hadn't expected his thoughts to be seen through by this girl who looked no older than twenty!
Nor had he expected Catherine to say it out loud!
Catherine was unlike any girl Beck had ever met.
Regardless of Beck's intentions, Catherine spoke her mind.
"Mr. Howard, I don't think much of you, and don't use your way of thinking to judge me!"
Beck was slightly taken aback.
Facing Catherine's serious yet disdainful gaze, Beck was stunned!
"What do you know..."
Catherine shook her head, a trace of pity in her eyes as she looked at him..
"I don't know, but you don't know me either, or Alexander. It's okay, because from now on, I'll understand him."
With that, she stood up and walked towards Alexander. Alexander took her hand and quietly asked what she had said to Beck. A moment later, Beck saw Alexander glance at him in surprise.
Then he looked away.
But in that glance, Beck saw relief!
Their father-son relationship seemed to return to the past in that moment, yet it could never go back…
All these years, he had deliberately distanced himself from Alexander. Was he really wrong?
The Windsor family's car stopped at the Howard Villa entrance.
With Brandon's help, Marcus came in, personally paying respect to the deceased, his expression solemn.
Then, Marcus turned to Felix.
"Is it resolved?"
"Resolved! But the people I arranged weren't needed. The kids handled it well, better than I expected!"
Felix felt a bit emotional.
He had set up a plan to resolve past issues today.
Unexpectedly, his people didn't even get a chance to appear, and those troublesome relatives were dealt with!
Felix felt gratified.
"From now on, I can rest easy, leaving the Howard family to them, especially Alexander and Catherine. Marcus, you have a wonderful granddaughter, and thank you for giving me a wonderful granddaughter too!"
Felix waved Juniper over to his side.
"Juniper, I know you don't like the scheming atmosphere, so I've arranged a project for you. The Howard family and the Windsor family will fund it, and you'll be the sole person in charge. Your team, your rules."
"The lab will be near your grandfather's house, close to both your grandfathers, but ownership remains above."
Juniper, a national researcher, was originally planned to be fully independent with her own lab, but the higher-ups were reluctant to let her go.
Juniper was surprised. "Grandpa..."
"The higher-ups said that if your project yields results, you can be promoted! Juniper, do your best!"
To achieve this, it's easy to imagine how many connections Felix and Marcus had to navigate, likely worrying about Juniper's situation all this time!
Marcus smiled.
"You'll always be our Windsor family's granddaughter. You and Catherine are the same in my heart."
"The Windsor family will always be your home!"
Juniper's eyes filled with tears.
"I have so many homes now..."
Alexander held Catherine's hand, warily glancing at Beck not far away.
"He's not a good person. Stay away from him in the future."
Catherine happily agreed to Alexander's suggestion.
"Okay."
Brandon was chatting with Beck, while Aurora stayed by Arabella's side, who wore a rare smile.
Felix sighed, "Vivienne's matter isn't over yet, but at least she can rest in peace now!"
Marcus snorted.
"You insisted on leaving room for maneuver, and it ended up hurting our own people. Do you know who's behind it now?"
Felix nodded slightly, his eyes sharp.
"Franklin! We haven't crossed paths in years. I wonder if his resolve is still as strong."
