Chapter 41 Oliver Got Kicked Out!
Early in the morning, Starry Residence was buzzing like a beehive. Both Moonlight Mansion of the Windsor family and Sunlit Mansion of the Howard family were jam-packed with guests.
The Howards and Windsors were practically neighbors!
They had two gifts ready, hoping one of the families would dig them.
The gift-givers almost wore out the Windsor family's doorstep!
A bunch of rich young ladies who were tight with Esme were green with envy at the whole scene.
"Esme, your fam is treating you like a queen. They went all out for your birthday, and I heard this crib is now yours."
"Oh my God, Esme, you hit the jackpot. I heard today’s being broadcasted worldwide. Your folks really adore you!"
Esme's face was a bit stiff.
"It's not my birthday."
Her friends thought she was just being modest.
"We know your birthday is next week, but you’re the only daughter of the Windsor family. If it’s not your birthday, whose is it? Your parents and brothers must want to celebrate with you alone next week, so they’re doing it early! We’re so jealous!"
Esme was super embarrassed.
But she had no clue how to set them straight!
'No one knows how much I wish all of this was mine!' Esme thought.
"Don’t say that, my parents don’t like being so flashy," she said.
Someone nudged Esme with their shoulder, grinning. "You’re so lucky. Your fiancé bought the building next door just to be close to you. Oh, I’m so envious."
"Alexander is so romantic?"
"I wish I had such a romantic and thoughtful fiancé!"
'Alexander bought the building next door? It must be because of me! He doesn’t even know the Windsor family has another daughter, so buying that house must be for me.'
Esme’s heart instantly felt warm and fuzzy.
"I’ll invite you all over to hang out sometime."
Her friends all made envious and jealous noises.
On the flip side...
Oliver had been chilling at the hotel for hours, but none of the company big shots showed up for the meal.
Even the cheapest banquet he had booked was getting cold.
The secretary made over a dozen calls before finally rushing to Oliver, sweating bullets.
"Mr. Smith, the bosses of the four companies went to the Windsor family to deliver gifts. I heard today is the birthday bash of the Windsor family’s daughter."
Oliver perked up and ordered, "To have the bosses of four companies deliver gifts, the Windsor family is indeed something else. Get a gift ready, and we’ll head over too!"
'If I could get in the Windsor family’s good books, I won’t have to worry about future business partners.'
Oliver started daydreaming that if the Windsor family backed him, the Smith Group could become the richest company in Serenitia City by tomorrow!
"What should we give Ms. Windsor?" the secretary asked.
Oliver took a bite of food and almost spat it out.
The cheapest banquet used overnight, stale ingredients. Even the cucumbers were a bit off.
He put down his fork and wiped his mouth, saying, "The Windsor family is used to the good stuff. Ms. Windsor probably won’t care about anything we give. It’s the thought that counts! Just grab something from Celeste’s jewelry box, and we’ll head to Imperia City right away."
"Got it, I’ll get it right away!"
Whenever it came to gift-giving, Oliver would pick something from Celeste’s dressing table.
Even if Celeste found out later, there wasn’t much she could say.
An hour later, Oliver’s car pulled up at the entrance of Starry Residence in Imperia City.
As soon as Oliver got out of the car, he was blown away by the scene before him!
"Ms. Windsor’s birthday is really something else, with so many people!"
'Basically, the big shots we usually only see in economic news are now holding gift boxes and lining up at the Windsor family’s door to register!'
"Come on, bring our gift. As long as a boss notices our company, the Smith family will thrive. If the Windsor family takes a liking to us, even better."
Oliver clutched a beat-up box and joined the line to present his gift.
"The Smith family from Serenitia City, here to give a gift to Ms. Windsor."
Dylan, who was jotting down the gifts, was taken aback.
The name rang a bell; it seemed like the family he had seen when he went to pick up Catherine.
Dylan looked up and, sure enough, saw Oliver's familiar mug!
Thinking about how the Smith family had even publicly cut ties with Catherine, Dylan was so mad he wanted to blow a gasket!
'Catherine is such a good kid. Since she came back, she's been visiting Marcus almost every day. From Marcus's commanding officers to the janitor at Bright Heal Hospital, everyone sings her praises!'
Dylan coldly said, "We ain't accepting it. Beat it."
Oliver panicked and asked, "Why won't you take it? I'm here to give Ms. Windsor a gift and wish her a happy birthday!"
Dylan turned to the servant behind him and said, "Go fetch someone."
The four sons of the Windsor family, upon hearing that someone from the Smith family was causing a ruckus in the banquet hall, immediately threw on their jackets and strutted out with an imposing presence!
The four of them were all top-notch, their tall figures complemented by black tailcoats, looking like princes and knights straight out of a fairy tale. Yet, they all wore cold expressions, and their intimidating vibe made everyone outside the banquet hall shiver!
Oliver started to shake involuntarily at the sight of the four men.
'How awesome would it be if one of them were my son-in-law? The Smith family would never have to worry again.'
Charles said coldly, "The Windsor family doesn't want you here. Scram."
Oliver said, sweating bullets in panic, "I'm just here to give Ms. Windsor a gift. No need to be so harsh."
George said, "I don't mind beating you half to death and tossing you out."
Oliver was stunned.
'When did I tick off the Windsor family? Why are they threatening to beat me up right away?'
Richard said, "Dylan, next time if someone causes trouble at our door, just chuck them into the dog yard. My newly bought Tibetan mastiffs are still hungry!"
Oliver was shocked.
'Does the Windsor family have no sense of the law?'
Philip grabbed Oliver by the collar and tossed him out!
"Today is my sister's birthday. Get lost!"
Charles looked at the silent crowd, curling his lips into a domineering cold smile, and said, "Sorry for the scene, everyone. Today is my sister's birthday bash. The Windsor family only welcomes those who sincerely wish her well. As for the Smith family, who can't tell right from wrong and ditched the daughter they raised for eighteen years, we, the Windsor family, don't roll with such people!"
With that, Charles, George, Richard, and Philip turned and left.
Oliver, clutching his sore backside, was in a state of confusion.
'What the heck is going on?'
'Why is the Windsor family so hostile to me?'
With the Windsor family making their stance clear, those who wanted to suck up to them immediately stepped back, distancing themselves from Oliver on the spot.
'We are not associated with the Smith family!'
'We don't want the Windsor family to get the wrong idea!'
Oliver's face burned with embarrassment as he ran off, clutching his backside with the help of his secretary.
Around Esme, a group of wealthy young ladies saw the commotion at the door, puzzled.
"Esme, what's up with your brothers? Did the Smith family tick you off?"
"Esme's brothers are so handsome. Each one is my type."
Esme kept a graceful smile, but her handkerchief was nearly shredded in her hand!
'Catherine has been kicked out by the Smith family, so why are my brothers still so good to her!'
'If only they would acknowledge me as the only daughter of the Windsor family at the birthday bash, then everything at this party would rightfully be mine!'
A calculating glint flashed in Esme's eyes.
