Chapter 56 Clara's Public Embarrassment
Clara was practically green with envy!
"I heard the big boss at Radiant Entertainment is some old dude, over fifty, and his last name's Windsor too. Now Catherine's going by Catherine Windsor. Is she having a sugar baby or something?" she blurted out.
Stuff like that wasn't exactly rare in showbiz.
Lucas eyed that poster, feeling a bit tempted. 'If Catherine's really planning to go public, that could work in my favor. Get some dirt on her past, and she'll have to play by my rules!'
Clara was all over the place, thinking she should hit up Oliver and Celeste to get the scoop. 'If Catherine really goes public, she won't last long!'
Meanwhile, the director led Catherine and Charles to the principal's office, handing over some papers with a respectful nod. "Mr. Windsor, these are Esme's school records. She got in with a weak foundation 'cause Lila donated a building to the school."
Charles grabbed a fancy cup, poured some water for Catherine, checked the temp with his hand, and then handed it to her. He spoke calmly, "I don't need to see the papers. Just give me the rundown. Esme's been a poor student since she was a kid. Is that why her classmates are bullying her?"
The director shook his head like crazy and said, "Are you kidding? Who'd dare mess with Marcus's granddaughter!"
'It's a miracle if she isn't the one doing the bullying,' the director thought.
Charles knew Marcus's style—never using his clout to give the Windsor kids an edge at school, let alone to push others around.
He frowned and asked, "Has Marcus ever come to the school to see Esme?"
"No, Marcus is super busy. No way he'd have the time. Esme herself announced at the opening ceremony that she was Marcus's granddaughter."
'Marcus is low-key, but Esme sure isn't!' the director thought.
Charles was at a loss for words.
"Esme's barely shown up for classes since she enrolled. She claimed she was taking care of Marcus in the hospital and even posted pics on social media."
"This time, Esme had someone else take the exam for her. Here are the test papers."
Two test papers were laid out in front of them, one with a glaring score of 58.
Charles frowned and asked, "Has she had someone else take all her exams?"
"Yeah. But our college's exams are notoriously tough. Esme hasn't attended a single class, so scoring 58 is actually not bad."
The director was sweating bullets.
These were the best excuses he could come up with, and even he thought they sounded ridiculous.
Seeing how Charles doted on Catherine, the director was worried Charles would be just as soft on Esme. If he blew up, the school was in deep trouble.'
Catherine glanced at the test paper and said calmly, "Got a blank test paper? And a pen?"
Charles thought she was bored and told the director, "Get a blank test paper."
The director rummaged around for a while and finally found a graduate-level medical competition test paper. "This is all we have. This test paper is so tough that Gavin only scored 80 on it. You can take a look."
"Thanks."
The director was worried Catherine might just doodle something, and he'd have to find a way to praise it.
But looking at Catherine, she was cool and collected, way better than Esme, who always strutted into the office like she owned the place.
The director now got a headache whenever he heard, "Do you know who my grandfather is?"
"How's Esme's relationship with her classmates? Just give it to me straight," Charles asked.
"Not great. Mainly 'cause Esme looks down on everyone, calling them country bumpkins and paupers. Since she rarely shows up for classes, she doesn't really interact with her classmates at all! So, the relationship is pretty much non-existent!"
Given Esme's personality, Charles could pretty much guess what kind of trouble she was stirring up at school.
Catherine put down her pen and handed the test paper to the director.
"You're done already? This test paper's got a ton of technical terms. It's cool if you don't get it. Wait a sec!"
The director glanced at the answers and calculations on the test paper and nearly choked!
He didn't even have the answers to this test paper. He had to pull them from the medical database.
"Mr. Windsor, just a moment!"
Five minutes later, the director looked at Catherine like she was some kind of prodigy!
'This test paper, which Gavin only scored 80 on, Catherine scored 99!'
'She lost one point because her paper is filled with calculations, losing a bit of presentation score.'
'But it also proved that she had completed the test paper in just ten minutes!'
"Ms. Windsor, would you be interested in enrolling in our school? We’d love to offer you a spot to pursue your bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees all in one go!"
Catherine shook her head, "Nah."
She was just bored and wanted to see how tough the school's questions were.
It turned out she accidentally got a test paper she wrote herself, and Gavin only scored 80. So she wrote down the calculation process for a few key questions, considering it as Gavin's reward for helping her with experiments.
Charles's eyes lit up, looking at Catherine with extra tenderness and he asked, "Catherine, are you interested in studying medicine? George can mentor you, and I can set up a lab for you if you like."
"No, I only learned a bit because the elderly person who raised me was in poor health. I don't really like it."
'If it weren't for taking care of Elodie, I wouldn't have studied medicine at all.'
The director was a bit bummed, looking at Catherine eagerly, and said, "If you ever change your mind, please remember to come to me!"
Catherine nodded, glanced at the failing test paper on the table, and said, "As for this test paper, it's too easy. If your school needs help with test questions in the future, you can come to me."
"Sure! Even if you don't attend school, it would be awesome if you could offer some guidance!"
Her questions might seriously up the graduation delay rate at Medical University.
"Catherine, what major do you want to study?" Charles asked.
"I haven't decided. Anything's fine, preferably a school close to home."
The Windsor family members all liked to have meals with her. If the school was too far, they would be the first to object.
She didn't really want to go to college because she had already learned everything taught there, and attending would be a waste of time.
It was because, on many nights, Elodie would hold her in a rocking chair, gently swaying and watching the moon.
"Catherine must go to the best university. Our Catherine will go from here to the best places!" Elodie said.
"What about you when I'm gone?"
Elodie would smile, fanning herself gently and patting her back.
"I will become the moon, always watching over you from the sky. So you can't go astray. You must go to college!"
Those memories were sealed away but were the most beautiful times Catherine would never forget!
Catherine's phone flashed with an encrypted number. She stood up and said, "Charles, I need to take a call."
Charles also had some questions to ask the director privately so he said, "Alright, don't go too far."
Catherine stood in the hallway and answered the call, "Miss, there's news from the Osflow estate. Celeste plans to relocate Elodie's grave!"
"Relocate? Isn't Elodie's grave in a good spot?"
"Yes, Elodie's grave is in a place that good, so Celeste wants to move Elodie's coffin and bury her own parents there in the future! Miss, we spent a lot of money on that grave. If someone digs it up, where will Elodie rest?"
