Chapter 157 Marcus Discovers Elodie's Bracelet

As soon as Oliver brought up money, all his pain just disappeared!

Celeste sneered to herself, 'With Elodie's favoritism, she always treated Catherine like a princess since she was a kid. That bracelet was probably something Elodie meant for Catherine! Why should Catherine get it? Elodie's stuff should go to Clara! That bracelet is so valuable; it's a waste for Catherine to have it. If only Clara could get her hands on it.' Celeste's eyes were full of scheming.

"Oliver, that bracelet was definitely stolen by Catherine. Now that she's out of our lives, we should call the cops and say she took Elodie's stuff. How could she not give it back?" Celeste said.

Oliver, still sore from Catherine's beating, hesitated. "We don't have any proof that the bracelet belonged to Elodie. What if Catherine says it has nothing to do with Elodie? What then?"

"What do we do? That bracelet is so expensive! Are we just gonna let Catherine keep it?" Celeste, pushing through her pain, was relentless!

'Of course, I don't want to let it go! That bracelet is so valuable; how can we just let Catherine have it for nothing?' Oliver thought.

"Here's the plan: I'll pay some media outlets to create a buzz, saying our family lost a priceless treasure. Once the news spreads, I bet she'll get scared. By then, she'll definitely return the bracelet!" Oliver had it all figured out. If they could stir up enough online harassment against Catherine, she wouldn't be able to handle the pressure and would have to give the bracelet back!

Behind them, Brent, who had been eavesdropping, quietly opened his eyes and slipped away while they weren't looking, thinking, 'Such an expensive and valuable item can't possibly belong to Oliver! Catherine is my future wife. Her belongings should rightfully be mine!'

The night in Tranquil County came especially early.

Stars filled the sky, and Juniper was sound asleep. Catherine had just let down her hair and lay down when she suddenly heard a faint rustling sound and thought, 'The Windsor family's old house is well-maintained, so it can't be snakes, insects, or rodents. It has to be a person!'

Catherine glanced at Juniper beside her, took out her phone, and opened a message.

Alkaid: [Miss, someone has entered your house. Do you need us to handle it?]

Catherine: [No need.]

Attached were a few photos taken by Alkaid, and from the figure, it was clearly Brent!

Catherine had just put away her phone and quietly left the room, crouching low as Juniper immediately opened her eyes and followed.

"Catherine."

'Why is Catherine getting up? Is she going to the bathroom? But our room has a bathroom, doesn't it?' Juniper was puzzled and suddenly heard a strange noise, making her instantly tense! 'It's Catherine's first time in Tranquil County. What if she runs into danger?'

Juniper didn't bother putting on shoes and quickly ran out to find Catherine.

In the darkness, Brent was cautiously searching for Catherine's room. He had paid several local fishermen to find out that Catherine had entered this house.

'This is the largest house in Tranquil County. Could Catherine really be from a wealthy family?' The thought of this possibility made Brent's heart race with excitement! Thinking of Catherine's stunningly beautiful face and graceful figure, Brent couldn't help but lick his lips, filled with greed and lust. 'As long as I find Catherine and take advantage of the situation to have sex with her, how can't I not win her heart?'

Brent, lost in his filthy thoughts, didn't notice the cold, watchful eyes observing him from a ceiling beam above.

'I can't make too much noise, or I'll wake Juniper.' Catherine thought as she touched the watch on her wrist, aimed at the carotid artery in Brent's neck, and fired!

Brent fell silently to the ground. Catherine flipped down from the beam, coldly looking at the half-dead man on the floor. If it weren't for the worry that causing a scene in the old Windsor Mansion would bring trouble for Juniper and the Windsor family, Brent wouldn't have just been knocked out so easily!

Juniper ran over to Catherine with a flashlight. "Catherine! Are you okay? What happened?"

"I'm fine. There was a thief who broke in."

Juniper looked at Brent lying on the ground, her eyes cold. "How could there be a thief? When did the Windsor family's security get so bad?"

Catherine shook her head. "I don't know. I heard a noise and came out to check. He was already lying on the ground, covered in injuries. He might be a nearby gambler."

In Tranquil County, it wasn't uncommon for people to gamble all night and be unable to pay their debts, leading to beatings. It was rare but not unheard of.

Juniper didn't doubt her and called the butler, who was resting, to drag Brent away and hand him over to the police. She then looked at Catherine with a serious expression. "In the future, call me for things like this. I'm your sister; it's not your turn to step in! If something happened to you, I wouldn't want to live either!"

It was the first time Juniper spoke to Catherine like this, her eyes red.

Catherine pursed her lips, looking at Juniper in front of her. "But you're tired and need rest. I didn't want to disturb you."

Juniper was stunned, thinking, 'Catherine said she was tired and wanted to rest in the afternoon, but is it actually to let me rest? When I got up, I noticed Catherine's blanket was cold, indicating that Catherine hasn't lain down while I was sleeping. What a little angel Catherine is!'

Juniper felt a mix of bitterness and sweetness in her heart but still kept a stern face as she scolded, "I promise I will take good care of myself! But you can't handle things like this on your own in the future, okay?"

Catherine nodded, her gaze falling on Juniper's bare feet. It was clear that Juniper was so worried about her that she hadn't noticed her own situation! "Juniper, can you promise me not to tell anyone about what happens next?"

Juniper was still confused about what Catherine was going to do when she suddenly felt herself being lifted off the ground!

Catherine actually carried her back to the room! "Remember to wear shoes next time. Go to sleep."

Juniper looked at Catherine, her eyes wide with surprise, not knowing what to say!

'Was I really carried back to the room by Catherine? Isn't Catherine a bit too strong?' Juniper thought.

Catherine ignored Juniper's shock, lay down, and closed her eyes to sleep.

Juniper lay down as well, and after a moment, she couldn't help but laugh softly. She turned over and hugged Catherine beside her, her voice filled with joy. "I won't tell anyone. I won't share how adorable my sister is with them!"

This was a secret just between Juniper and Catherine!

The next day, at The Windsor Mansion.

Marcus sat in the garden reading the newspaper, browsing through the recent major events.

Aurora, having finished watering the plants, sat beside him enjoying coffee. "Dad, look at this news. It says a family's bracelet was lost. This bracelet looks really valuable. How could they not take good care of something like this?"

"Let me see." Marcus put down his newspaper, took the phone Aurora handed him, and was instantly shocked beyond words when he opened the screen! "This bracelet is Elodie's bracelet!"

"Dad, you recognize it?" Aurora asked.

Marcus zoomed in and out of the picture several times, his hands trembling with excitement, and tears welled up in his eyes.

Marcus nodded, recalling. "This photo is quite old, but it's definitely the bracelet I gave Elodie back then! Elodie loved this bracelet and said she would leave it to our children in the future. But when Elodie passed away, the bracelet should have been buried with her. Who posted this news? Find out for me!"

Aurora, seeing Marcus so emotional, realized the bracelet had a significant backstory and quickly agreed. "Okay!"

Marcus looked at the picture on the phone, tears welling up, feeling a mix of emotions. "Elodie, are you still alive? If you are, why haven't you come to find me?"
