Chapter 153 The Worship of Juniper!
Catherine was rocking this experimental suit made of some special materials. Her eyes, cold and clear like stars in the night, had everyone in the room hooked with just one look. And she have that queen-like vibe going on, with a gaze full of disdain.
Theron was fuming. "I need to check if your credentials are legit!"
Catherine rolled her eyes. "Seriously? How did someone like you even get into Phoenix Lab? Your boss must have terrible taste."
Alkaid jumped in, "Yeah, boss, there are so many checks at the entrance. Do you really think we could get in here with fake credentials? With that kind of thinking, you might as well go work on a chicken farm."
Theron was about to lose it. Did she just say he was fit for a chicken farm?
Juniper's eyes landed on the two young girls who had just walked in. She was puzzled, thinking, 'One of them is Alkaid from the Galactic Aurora Collective Lab. I've seen her before during data exchanges. Their lab has special access to any lab in Stellara because of their contributions. I even thought about poaching her! The experimenters at the Galactic Aurora Collective Lab are young but total geniuses. They can draw conclusions from data in three-quarters of the time it takes me, and their accuracy is insane!'
'I've been called a genius since I was a kid, but seeing them, I know what real genius is. The girl in front of me, being called "boss" by Alkaid, must be the head of the Galactic Aurora Collective Lab. These geniuses are proud, and they have every right to be. Someone who can lead them must be a super genius. What kind of person can do that?' Juniper thought, looking at the girl in the mask and hat, her voice tinged with excitement. "Our boss is in a meeting today and will be back later."
The head of the lab was Evander Howard! He had tons of research data and had made huge contributions to Stellara's scientific research. Some said he had a strong background, which was why he held the top position, but those were just rumors.
Theron and Caius, the two lab managers, were only causing trouble because Evander, who always appreciated Juniper's skills, wasn't around. They were trying to make Juniper leave Phoenix Lab on her own. They were worried Evander would make things tough for them when he got back!
Seeing Juniper's calm demeanor, Catherine knew Juniper must have gone through a lot to hold her ground in such a place, and Juniper had never told the Windsor family about any of this.
Theron frowned at Catherine. "This is none of your business!"
Catherine shot back coldly, "Who's collaborating with us?"
Juniper quickly raised her hand. "It's me!"
As the head of the lab, Juniper had signed a short-term experimental agreement with the Galactic Aurora Collective.
Theron looked at Catherine and sneered, "The experimental data is all ours. You can't fake that! Ms. Windsor, if you can't produce the experimental data, how can you claim the experiments were done by you?"
Catherine got it, realizing these two had intercepted the experimental data midway.
Juniper snapped back, "I did those experiments myself. You didn't even show up. Where were you every time the experiments started?"
Caius's eyes darted around as he thought, 'At our age, our dreams are long gone. Depending on scientific research for a living is a joke to us. Only someone as naive as Juniper would still be doing experiments herself. No matter how good the data looks, can it make us rich? We might as well slack off.'
"Of course, we were in our own lab conducting experiments. Ms. Windsor, just because you hide in the lab doesn't mean others aren't working hard," Caius said.
Juniper almost laughed at how twisted his words were. "Fine, then let's check the surveillance and see if you were really conducting experiments."
Theron sneered, "Ms. Windsor, Mr. Howard isn't here today. What gives you the right to check our office's surveillance?"
These two were sly. They had been planning this for a long time, just to push Juniper out!
Catherine suddenly spoke up, "I have something I'd like everyone to see. Can I use the screen?"
Juniper nodded. "Sure."
The central screen in the lab was huge, but it was usually just for meetings and rarely turned on.
Theron looked at Catherine coldly. "Our lab's central screen isn't just any large screen. Can you even turn it on?"
Catherine glanced at the mess of data cables in front of her.
As one of the top labs in Stellara, the central control screen of Phoenix Lab was basically the same as a regular LED display control screen. It just needed to receive display info from the computer's serial port. As long as she could findthe controller's driver and send card's location, she could turn it on.
Juniper stepped forward and softly asked, "Can I help you?"
Juniper didn't know the name of the boss of the Galactic Aurora Collective, but she knew this was definitely a super scientific genius worth sticking to!
Catherine replied coolly, "No need."
Theron glanced at Catherine, convinced she couldn't turn on the central screen, and sneered, "There's no need to show off. This is our lab's business. Outsiders should leave immediately!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Catherine easily connected to the lab's central screen. Her effortless manner stunned everyone as they thought, 'Many of us in Phoenix Lab can't even turn on the central screen, yet the boss of the Galactic Aurora Collective does it in an instant.'
What shocked everyone even more was the content on the screen!
On the screen, two middle-aged men with cigarettes in their mouths were leisurely watching their fishing rods, looking like they were enjoying life! It was none other than Theron and Caius.
Behind them, Alkaid, grinning, took out her phone. "It's 3 PM on a Monday in Imperia City, work hours. I wonder how these two are doing with their fishing."
Theron's voice came from the video. "Damn, I just can't stand Juniper. She thinks she can step on us!"
"That little girl, she thinks she's something. We have to find a way to get her out!" Caius said.
Theron took the cigarette from his mouth and said lewdly, "I think she's pretty enough. Once we get her out, I'll have some fun with her."
Everyone was shocked, thinking, 'Mr. Evans and Mr. Cox are supposed to be the leaders of the lab! Not only did they go fishing during work hours, but they also wanted to frame and lust after Ms. Windsor!'
Juniper remained calm. Having reached her position, she had seen a lot of such malice.
The video continued to play, showing that on almost every weekday afternoon, Caius and Theron would sign in and then go out to play cards, fish, or even get massages, but never stay in the lab!
Caius and Theron were completely panicked after seeing the video!
