Chapter 195 Personally Going Up to Rescue
[Heritage Storage Depot, only three people on Nightfall's side. Come quickly!]
The Heritage Storage Depot was just ten miles away from where Catherine was. She took a quick look at a rough map and locked the route in her mind.
Catherine pocketed her phone, hopped on her motorcycle parked by the roadside, and strapped on her helmet, firing up the engine. "George, I gotta handle something. Take Emilia and Juniper home for me. I'll be back later!"
"Hey, Catherine..." George started, but she was already gone, her bike disappearing around the corner.
Emilia whistled, "Didn't know Catherine had that wild side. I dig it!"
She always thought Catherine was just the spoiled princess of the Windsor Family.
Emilia squinted in the direction Catherine had sped off, seemingly towards the Blade of Dusk's stronghold. Whether it was a hunch or not, she was glad to buy Catherine some time.
'The Blade of Dusk killed my mom and still wants to mess around in Imperia City under Anthony's orders? No way!' Emilia thought, flashing George a charming smile. "I'm not going any further. Those people know me, and I can't explain it to my grandpa. Take me home, or I'll tell Catherine you ditched me."
George's eyelid twitched. "Fine, I'll take you home. Juniper, hop in too."
Emilia got back in the car and handed her phone to George. "George, add me on WhatsApp. We might have some stuff in common."
'Common stuff? What could we possibly have in common?' George thought as he added her on WhatsApp. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Do you also like researching proton pump inhibitors for surgical stress ulcers? Then we do have something in common."
Once George started talking about his research, he couldn't stop, diving into his latest project.
Emilia's eyes glazed over. "What?"
Juniper couldn't hold back and cut in, "George, can you shut up? Talk about your research when it wins an award. What girl wants to hear about that stuff?"
'With George's personality, he's destined to be alone. Does Emilia look like she's into proton pump inhibitors?' Juniper thought.
Emilia pressed her forehead and muttered, "I wanted to find a Windsor Family guy to secure my inheritance, but I didn't expect him to be such a nerd."
As the car drove on, George glanced in the rearview mirror. "Someone's following us. Are they from the Blade of Dusk?"
Emilia leaned out to take a look. "They seem to be here to kill me. The driver is Esme's dad, with a face so ugly it's unforgettable."
Esme's father, Lloyd Hughes, was Anthony's adopted son and had been handling illegal work for Anthony for years.
"Probably Maurice wants Esme to replace me." Emilia sneered, her beautiful face full of disdain. "George, if it's too much trouble, just drop me off. I don't need the Windsor Family to help me with such a small matter. But if you're willing to leave me a few people, that would be great!"
George glanced at Emilia with a complicated expression, thinking, 'Despite the cold sweat on her forehead and her trembling hands, she's still trying to act tough. Since she's Catherine's friend and just helped me find several Blade of Dusk gathering spots, I'm not someone who forgets favors.'
George unbuttoned his shirt, his eyes darkening. "There are a ton of cameras up ahead. It's easier to deal with them once we shake these guys off. Hold on tight!"
Heritage Storage Depot.
The long-abandoned warehouse sprawled over a large area. Catherine's motorcycle zipped through the old, unfinished buildings, her eyes locking onto the nearest one.
Mercury crawled out of the bushes and waved at Catherine. "Over here! Nightfall's on the fifth floor. There are over three hundred Blade of Dusk guys, and Nightfall's reinforcements are still on the way. They might not make it in time."
"Not make it?" Catherine asked.
"The Shadow Syndicate's people got blocked. The whole road was dug up by excavators, trapping them. It'll take a while for them to get here." Mercury was shocked, thinking, 'The Blade of Dusk is too bold. This is Imperia City, not some chaotic border!'
The good citizen, Mercury, immediately called the police, sending a file detailing Blade of Dusk's actions. Fortunately, unlike the border, Imperia City was still governed by law.
"The police have taken over that area, and our people are on their way to rescue. But Nightfall is in danger," Mercury reported.
With only three people from the Shadow Syndicate, facing over three hundred from the other side was indeed tricky.
"Where did Blade of Dusk find so many people?" Catherine asked.
The Blade of Dusk in Imperia City had only about two hundred people. Even if Anthony brought the Hughes Family, they couldn't gather over three hundred.
"The Thunderstrike Mercenaries are here! Otherwise, Blade of Dusk wouldn't dare dig up roads. The Thunderstrike Mercenaries have been at the border for too long; it's time to show them some laws in Stellara!" Mars emerged, carrying a heavy sniper rifle and chewing on a piece of grass. "Our people are in position. Rescuing them shouldn't be a problem."
Catherine's eyes fell on the abandoned building in front of her. The unfinished building was full of concrete and dust, bricks and construction debris piled together. A slight misstep could lead to a fatal fall. "I'll go up and take a look."
Mars was surprised. "You're going up to rescue them yourself?"
Catherine shook her head. "He doesn't need my rescue, but his goal is probably to eliminate Blade of Dusk. We won't lose out by doing it ourselves. Go get ready."
'The Shadow Syndicate can't make it, but the Faceless Ones are all here! A mere Blade of Dusk and an unknown mercenary group from the border dare to cause trouble in Imperia City?' Catherine thought.
"Miss, do you really fall in love with Nightfall? It's the first time I've seen you so concerned. No wonder you have a marriage contract!" Mercury said.
"It has nothing to do with that. Out of righteousness and morality, I would act. If you were trapped up there, I would save you too," she said.
Watching Catherine climb the stairs with her heavy sniper rifle, Mercury raised an eyebrow at Mars. "Righteousness and morality? Does Catherine have those?"
Mars shrugged. "Definitely not. If I were up there, would Catherine save me?"
"If I were up there, would Catherine save me?"
"Yes, but whether you'd be missing limbs or alive is another story." Feeling satisfied after completing Catherine's words, Mercury led his team to set up an ambush.
