Chapter 29 The Smith family Should Go Bankrupt Too.
The secretary, with a real nasty attitude, snapped, "I am already being nice. Get Catherine to the police station ASAP. If she pisses off the Smith family, she won't be able to handle the consequences! I heard your whole family farms and raises chickens in Tranquil County. Be careful. If she doesn't show up, you might not even farm in the future!"
Juniper was speechless.
'This is called nice talk? This doesn't even count as human speech!'
'Although my number is registered in Tranquil County, her account is monitored by the National Security Agency, essentially making it a government-issued phone.'
'As for not letting me raise chickens, are you going against the government?'
'Is the Smith family some kind of elite family?'
'Would Catherine, as a Windsor, even care about the Smith family's status?'
The veins on Juniper's hand bulged, and she was about to curse when she met Catherine's concerned gaze from across the table, swallowing it back down.
Thinking about how Catherine had been living with such people, Juniper gripped the fork in her hand so hard it bent out of shape!
"Ridiculous."
Taking a deep breath, Juniper hung up the phone and blocked the number, continuing to peel shrimp for Catherine.
"Here, these shrimp were just flown in. Eat more."
"Thank you, Juniper."
Charles glanced at the fork in Juniper's hand, his eyes flashing with cold light. "Who called and made you so angry?"
"A bunch of lunatics, not important. Charles, let's broadcast Catherine's birthday party live to the whole world. I bought a few big screens in some squares to loop the broadcast!"
'I want the whole world to know that Catherine is the daughter of the Windsor family! Not just anyone could bully her!'
Aurora cheered first, "Oh, that's great. I thought the event wasn't grand enough, which would be too unfair to Catherine. Juniper, can you contact the publicity department and make sure everyone watching TV sees Catherine's birthday broadcast?"
"Sure, I'll call the publicity department right away. Charles, come with me to the study to discuss how to make this happen!"
"Alright."
Charles put on his suit jacket, following Juniper.
Catherine was silent.
'It's just a birthday, does it really need to be broadcast globally?'
But seeing her whole family brainstorming for her birthday and meeting Aurora's tear-filled eyes, Catherine's heart softened.
In the study, Juniper's smile faded, replaced by a serious look on her beautiful face, and she said, "Charles, what kind of life did Catherine have before? The Smith family called me and said if Catherine doesn't forgive Celeste and Clara, they'll make her life miserable!"
Charles knew Juniper had other things to discuss when she called him to the study.
Hearing this, his usually elegant and handsome face turned cold!
"Damn the Smith family! Dealing with them is easy, but we still need to ask Catherine's opinion. After all, she lived with the Smith family for so many years. If she has any feelings for them, we don't want to do anything that would upset her." Charles said considerately.
Juniper nodded and said,
"I'm also worried that Catherine might still have some feelings for them. Knowing how they treated her would make her sad. That family keeps calling us poor farmers, definitely thinking we're really poor!"
Charles was speechless.
'It is the first time I heard someone call the Windsor family poor.'
He pursed his thin lips and carefully wiped his glasses with a tissue.
"We have many ways to deal with the Smith family, but we still need to ask Catherine. Whatever she says, we must respect her wishes." he said.
Juniper nodded.
Just as she left the study, she saw Catherine standing at the door with a tray of fruit, her smooth hair tucked behind her ears, looking particularly obedient in her loungewear.
"Aurora asked me to bring this. She said you didn't eat much earlier." Catherine said.
Aurora treated all the children equally, naturally noticing that Juniper and Charles had been serving Catherine during dinner and hadn't eaten much themselves.
"Thank you, Catherine. Come in. Charles and I have something to tell you."
Catherine followed her in, and Juniper recounted the phone call in detail, then cautiously asked, "How do you think we should handle this?"
Catherine's expression was calm, without a trace of sadness, and she said, "I won't go to the police station, and I won't forgive them."
The Smith family was already a thing of the past for her.
Charles breathed a sigh of relief. Although he would support Catherine's decision no matter what, he was relieved to see that she wasn't upset by the Smith family's attitude.
Catherine smiled, seeing Charles and Juniper caring for her, and said, "I won't be sad over people who aren't worth it. My family now includes Marcus, Brandon, Aurora, Charles, George, Richard, Philip, and Juniper."
'As for the Smith family, they have nothing to do with me once I left!'
Juniper thought of the video Esme had shown her and tentatively asked, "Catherine, do you have a boy you like?"
Charles immediately tensed up, sitting up straight and looking at Catherine.
Catherine shook her head and said, "No, why do you ask?"
Juniper looked at Catherine with an understanding expression. 'Catherine must be shy!'
"Catherine, it doesn't matter who you like. Our Windsor family doesn't care about family background. Even if the other family has no money or power, as long as they treat you well and you like them enough, they can marry into our family," Juniper said.
For some reason, Juniper's words suddenly made her think of Alexander. 'But someone like Alexander probably wouldn't want to marry into another family.' Thinking of this, Catherine's face suddenly felt a bit hot.
"Although our family has an engagement, if you don't like the Howard family, we can call it off!" Juniper said.

"Thank you, Charles. I'll go rest now," Catherine said.

Catherine knew Juniper and Charles had more to discuss, so she closed the study door and left.
Charles's face immediately darkened, filled with anger. "Juniper, call the National Security Agency and tell them someone is threatening your lab, repeatedly harassing you, and is suspected of stealing national secrets."
Juniper agreed. They exchanged a glance, both seeing the raging fury in each other's eyes. 'The Smith family, you are really something!'
The Smith Mansion
Oliver was anxiously pacing back and forth in the living room.
"Mr. Smith, I've contacted the people in Tranquil County and told them to get Catherine back to forgive Celeste and Clara immediately," the secretary said.
"What did they say? When will Catherine arrive?"
The secretary hesitated, "Those people were unreasonable, hanging up on me and even saying you were crazy!"
Oliver was so angry that he got a headache! "We shouldn't have been kind enough to raise Catherine all these years. Clara is my real daughter. Catherine just can't stand seeing Clara living a good life now and is trying everything to get back into the Smith family! Clara and Celeste kidnapped her? Was that kidnapping? They specifically called people to take her back to Tranquil County. Otherwise, she would have stayed in Imperia City forever! She's a leech on society!"
The secretary stepped forward, standing beside Oliver, and said, "Mr. Smith, Clara and Celeste said they took Catherine from outside Evergreen Mall. Why don't you go to Evergreen Mall and check out? As long as you can get her to sign a reconciliation agreement, Clara and Celeste will be safe."
A look of delight flashed in Oliver's eyes!
