Chapter 47 Catherine's Identity Exposed x1
Charles, George, Richard, and Philip all shot daggers at Alexander.
'This dude's here to steal Catherine from us! He's got food at home but still shows up at the Windsor's early to freeload. What's his deal?'
Aurora couldn't stop staring at Alexander, liking him more by the second.
She gave Brandon a loving look and said, "You never had breakfast with me, always claiming you were too busy. Look at Alexander, he's so good to Catherine!"
Brandon quickly grinned, "From now on, I'll have breakfast with you every day. The kids can handle the company. Whatever you want to eat, we'll have it."
"That's more like it."
The Windsor family went quiet.
They were used to Brandon and Aurora flaunting their affection, so they just kept their heads down and ate, pretending not to notice.
Alexander's lips curled into a gentle smile as he spoke to Catherine.
"Whatever you like to eat, I'll have breakfast with you from now on."
"No need, I don't do breakfast."
Catherine wasn't kidding. When she was with the Smith family, Oliver and Celeste never made breakfast for her, saying kids should go hungry to be healthier. Later, she got so busy with work that she often skipped breakfast.
"Then I'll make sure you eat breakfast from now on. The Howard family has some chefs who make killer breakfasts. I'll have them come to your place later," Alexander said.
Brandon was moved to tears, "Alexander, you're so thoughtful. Catherine really doesn't like eating breakfast. We'll rely on you to take care of her from now on."
"It's my duty to take care of Catherine."
Charles, George, Richard, and Philip could barely keep their smiles from cracking!
'This guy is definitely here to compete with us for Catherine!'
Aurora turned to Catherine and said, "Catherine, I got some gifts. Take them to Felix. We can't be rude on our first visit."
"Okay, got it."
Catherine grabbed the gifts and hopped into Alexander's car.
The extended Rolls-Royce gleamed in the sunlight, a limited edition luxury car with all the custom mods. To Catherine, it smelled like pure cash.
Sitting in the car, Catherine said, "Driving the old car must've been a drag for you."
Alexander replied, "Not at all, I liked it. It's an honor to drive you. Besides, I hope I can explain."
Catherine nodded indifferently.
She didn't care about his explanation, just like he hadn't asked about her identity. It was a fair trade.
"I wanted to tell you who I was, but I didn't want our relationship to get complicated. I met Blackfire as Nightfall, not as Alexander approaching Ms. Windsor. So my gift, one is for Ms. Windsor, and one is for you."
Catherine thought of the words he had engraved on the necklace box, [To the moon in my heart!]
'Is he saying I'm the moon in his heart?'
"I hope you won't be mad, and even if you are, don't ignore me. Also..."
Alexander paused, picking his words carefully.
"You don't know how happy I was to see you yesterday!"
"The girl I want to pursue turns out to be my fiancée!"
Catherine replied, "I blocked you because you talked too much and disrupted my work."
Annie, sitting in the passenger seat, was shocked!
'I've worked with Alexander for so many years and never thought I'd see the day someone could block Alexander! Catherine is impressive!'
"Now that you've heard my explanation, can you unblock me?"
'When did I say I needed these explanations?'
"Okay."
The Rolls-Royce pulled up at the entrance of Bright Heal Hospital. Alexander hopped out, opened the door, and offered his hand to Catherine, "Thanks for coming to the hospital with me to see Felix, my dear fiancée."
Catherine took a deep breath, reminding herself this was just a formality between big-shot families.
She placed her hand in Alexander's, stepping out of the car with him, catching a whiff of his faint sandalwood scent, warm like spring.
Annie quickly snapped some photos of Alexander and Catherine holding hands.
'Their backs look like a perfect match!'
Inside the hospital room, Felix and Marcus were glued to the door.
"Felix, where are your grandson and my granddaughter?"
"You didn't even bring a gift for my granddaughter's birthday yesterday, and you still have the nerve to complain?"
Felix grumbled, "Who said I didn't bring a gift? My gift is for my future granddaughter-in-law! You think I can just hand it out?"
Marcus snorted, his mustache twitching, "You just don't want to part with it!"
Felix got all worked up, "What do you mean I don't want to part with it! What do I have left to hold onto in this life! You didn't tell me you had another granddaughter. I thought Esme was your only one!"
Just thinking about Esme, who always dressed like she was about to be an art exhibit, gave Felix a headache.
"What's wrong with Esme? I never said she was my granddaughter. I have two granddaughters, Juniper and Catherine. The rest don't count," Marcus said.
Felix waved his hand impatiently, "I don't care about your family's drama. You were a jerk when you were young, and now you're paying for it! As long as Esme isn't my granddaughter!"
Marcus smiled, exuding that air of authority from years of being in charge, "Who wasn't a jerk? As long as we have a clear conscience towards the country and the younger generation! As for Esme, she's not inherently bad. She just needs to stay quietly by her grandmother's side."
Marcus had always turned a blind eye to Esme's antics, mainly because of Lila.
After all, they'd been married for so many years, so he wouldn't and couldn't push too hard!
Felix scrutinized him for a moment, then continued to clamor to see Catherine.
Catherine and Alexander walked into the hospital room, handing the gifts to Felix and Marcus.
"Mr. Windsor, these are the gifts I bought for you and Felix. These are the gifts Catherine prepared for you both," Alexander said.
Catherine was puzzled.
'When did I ask Alexander to prepare gifts for me?'
Felix looked at Catherine and Alexander, grinning from ear to ear, "Good, I just wanted to see Alexander's wife before I kick the bucket!"
Marcus also looked at them, his eyes full of affection.
"Who would've thought Catherine is Marcus's granddaughter? I didn't dare admit it was you who treated me, Catherine. Thanks to you, I was safe and sound. I owe you a favor, and I'll remember it, all on Alexander's account!" Felix said.
Alexander looked at Catherine in surprise!
'I thought it was George who saved Felix last time and even sent a gift to the Windsor family. I didn't expect it to be her! No wonder Phantom Doctor 'Moon' is supposed to come to the hospital today but hasn't shown up. So the infamous Moon on the dark web and black market is actually Catherine!'
Alexander lowered his head, looking tenderly at Catherine, "Thank you, I'll owe you this favor."
"No need, it was just a small effort," she said.
"That's not acceptable. Last time, my gift was taken by George. Today, I have more to trouble you with, so I need to compensate you properly!" he said.
