Chapter 117 She Can Also Have a Home

His breath was hot, and he started breathing faster. The warm air brushed against Catherine's neck.

"Let go, or I swear I'll knock you out!" Catherine warned.

Alexander chuckled, "I know you want to spar, but now's really not the time."

'I'm completely trapped in his arms, and he's talking about ruining the mood? If this old house wasn't still shaky after the repairs, I'd have already punched him!' Catherine thought.

Alexander grabbed her waist and, with a bit of effort, lifted her onto the bed.

The room was dark, and Catherine's bed was pretty high. Alexander sat on the floor, looking up at her.

His eyes softened with a gentle tenderness.

"Just sleep like this. Since your grandma's room is hers, don't disturb her, okay?" He said, thinking he was only here because of her.

With that, Catherine had no choice but to lie back down.

The moonlight outside was bright, and she hadn't slept a wink last night.

Catherine glanced at Alexander, who was still asleep beside her, quietly got up, and went to the yard to take a call.

"Miss, George is almost out of the country following that scar-faced guy. Should we keep tailing him?" Jared reported.

"Yes, don't let anything happen to him."

"We're checking out the address Ethan gave us, but something feels off."

Catherine frowned, "What's off?"

"Based on the timeline of his imprisonment, the person we're looking for might be another one of Ethan's brothers."

'The fake Ethan who got caught at X Bar while dealing with Eli?' she thought.

"Check all the surveillance from that night. I need more info on that person. Keep me posted on any updates," she ordered.

Jared agreed and hung up.

Catherine stood in the yard, the gentle morning mountain breeze blowing, and started her workout.

After finishing, she let out a long breath.

"You still like aerobics? My grandpa likes it too. You two should do it together sometime."

Catherine turned and met Alexander's gaze.

She didn't know when he had woken up, but he had been watching her every move from her room's window.

Cloudscape Villa was just an old house in a mountain village, not as tall as The Windsor Mansion. Even from the second floor, it felt close.

Alexander climbed out of the window with smooth, graceful movements.

He came to Catherine's side and touched his forehead to hers. "Good morning, my fiancée."

"Can you call me something else?"

In just one night, the whole village probably knew she had brought back a fiancé.

"Too many people call you Catherine. If I call you that too, you won't remember me." Alexander smiled and straightened up. "People who aren't loved always want to be unique. Please understand my insecurity."

He had said so much that if Catherine refused, it would seem unreasonable.

She turned and saw Neil poking his head in from the doorway, "Neil, good morning."

Neil came in with breakfast and placed it on the small stone table in the yard. "You're up early. It's good to be early."

'Up so early, did nothing happen last night?!' Neil suddenly felt he had let Elodie down. 'Last night, I confidently told Elodie I'd make sure it happened. Is Alexander having trouble with his sexual performance?'

With that thought, Neil looked at Alexander with a strange expression. "Miss, are you and Alexander leaving today?"

"Yeah, I need to go back to Imperia City to pick up my grandpa from the hospital," Catherine said.

Neil nodded, "That's good. Alexander can also get a check-up at the hospital. Not implying anything, just that the Brown family heard you were back and insisted on coming to see you."

The Brown family lived in the city, quite a trek from the village.

"What do they want with me?" she asked.

"Isn't it that Brent? I heard he lost a lot of money gambling recently and is up to something again." Talking about the Brown family, Neil started to get angry. "That year, they tricked you away and didn't let Elodie go out to find you. Elodie almost cried her eyes out!"

Neil got angrier just thinking about the past. 'The Brown family has been hoping something would happen to Catherine so that Celeste could have a chance to have a second child. They've come up with countless despicable schemes!'

Catherine ate breakfast in small bites, not saying a word as she thought, 'If the Brown family hadn't taken me away that year and secretly thrown me across the border, I wouldn't have been found by the Galactic Aurora Collective! All the darkness I experienced began from that moment. When I returned, Elodie didn't ask anything, just held my hand and cried. Even so, Oliver never cared, even though I was still considered part of the Smith family at that time. From that moment on, I thought I had no home. When Elodie passed away, my home completely fell apart. The person who loved me the most in the world was gone! Now, the Windsor family makes me feel warmth. It turns out that someone like me can also have a home.'

Neil was still indignant. "Those people are so bad. Last time, they even wanted to sell Cloudscape Villa. They don't even consider what this house has to do with them!"

"This house?" she asked.

"Yes, the Brown family heard that the house was sold. They didn't know it was bought by your family and were still thinking about getting a share of the money from selling the house. Brent just happened to owe three million dollars in gambling debts," Neil added.

Catherine understood that the Brown family was just looking for trouble under the pretense of selling Cloudscape Villa.

"The money is with Oliver. What does it have to do with me?" Catherine asked.

Neil was furious, "They want you to bring three million dollars as a dowry! Anyone can see through the Brown family's schemes!"

'So that's how it is. I haven't dealt with the Brown family for years and don't know what's on their minds,' Catherine thought.

"I understand. Don't worry about it. We'll leave after breakfast. Just lock up the yard," she said.

She noticed that there were surveillance cameras installed by the Windsor family in inconspicuous corners of the yard. If the Brown family tried to force their way in, they wouldn't have a good outcome.

"Okay," Neil said.

After breakfast, Alexander opened the car door for Catherine to get in and said a few words to Neil.

When he got in the car, Catherine asked, "What did you say?"

"I asked for a photo of your grandma so she can watch over us at our wedding," he replied.

Catherine was a bit surprised, thinking, 'He has even thought of such details. I have never imagined my wedding, but if I were to get married, I would want Elodie to witness it.'

The sports car transformed into a helicopter with a series of operations. The loud noise of the rotor blades stirred up fallen leaves and osmanthus flowers, leaving Cloudscape Villa behind, only a shadow remaining.

Catherine whispered in her heart, 'Grandma, I'll come back to see you next time.'

Alexander seemed to know what she was thinking and smiled softly. "We'll come back again. I'll be with you."
