Chapter 345 Unexpectedly, It Was Someone from Ancient Times
Mira's face lit up with a big smile.
"Are you sticking up for Hugo, Ms. Windsor?"
Catherine was just too kind-hearted!
"No, I just hate seeing good people get pushed around. Hugo has talent but hasn't had many chances. If giving him a shot and some support can help him grow, I'm all for it."
Mira knew Catherine wanted to help Hugo!
"Hugo's also one of Mr. Samuel Martinez's sponsored students. He's always been grateful to Mr. Martinez, and a lot of folks here stay because of Mr. and Mrs. Martinez."
"A few years back, when the company was struggling, Tony wanted to lay off staff. Mr. Martinez used his book royalties to keep people on, saying young folks could find new opportunities, but someone like Hugo, who has a family to support, would have a tough time."
"Mr. Martinez said even if someone's skills or smarts weren't up to snuff, they could be reassigned instead of being let go."
That's why people didn't want to leave the company!
Catherine looked up and asked, "Is that why you don't want to leave?"
Mira blushed a bit but nodded firmly.
"I'll go get Tony now!"
"Wait, I'll go with you. I might as well check out the company's internal structure."
Catherine stood up and walked alongside Mira.
Outside the director's office in the design department.
Inside, there was a heated argument!
"Damn, Hugo!"
"Does he really think tagging along with some clueless woman will lead to success?"
The sound of a glass shattering on the floor was sharp!
It was clear Tony was furious, smashing things in his office.
Tony's assistant whispered, "Mr. Gibson, Hugo's gone. What about the tasks you assigned him?"
"I don't believe Hugo has the guts not to continue!"
There was no one in the design department easier to exploit than Hugo.
Tony didn't believe Catherine had any real work for Hugo. He figured he could find Hugo later, threaten him a bit, and Hugo would obediently complete the tasks Tony had set.
"Ms. Windsor..."
"She's just a kid, what's there to be afraid of?"
A knock on the door, and Catherine pushed it open, standing outside with a smile for Tony.
"Mr. Gibson, I forgot to tell you, I'm restructuring the company. From now on, your work needs to be reported to my design assistant."
Tony broke out in a cold sweat!
Whether it was having to report to Hugo or knowing Catherine had overheard his words, Tony was terrified!
"How long has Ms. Windsor been here?"
Catherine raised an eyebrow with a smile.
"Guess, Mr. Gibson. I was going to have a drink with you, but since you don't think much of me, let's forget it!"
Hearing this from Catherine made Tony's back feel icy!
"No, Ms. Windsor... I didn't mean it like that!"
"Whether you meant it or not, many people heard it, so there's no need to explain to me."
When Tony was throwing a fit, the employees at the nearby workstations heard everything clearly!
Tony wanted to explain, but with glass shards all over the floor, his words felt powerless.
He watched helplessly as Catherine left with Mira, feeling particularly unlucky today!
After wrapping up the day's work, Catherine stretched her arms.
Mira grinned, "Hey, Ms. Windsor, I'm heading out. Don't stay too late, okay?"
"Don't worry, I'm leaving too."
Catherine gathered her things and checked her phone for messages from Aurora. Aurora was always checking in, asking if she was busy, tired, and whether she was eating properly.
Catherine replied to Aurora's messages with care, feeling the warmth of family concern with each heartfelt message she received...
As she stepped out of the building, a sleek, luxurious car was parked by the curb. Annie lowered the window from across the street, waving enthusiastically at Catherine.
"Catherine, over here!"
Catherine approached the car, and Annie opened the door for her. Inside, she saw Alexander, the twilight casting dramatic shadows on his face, making him look even more striking.
Outside, the clouds rolled by as evening deepened, and Alexander's gaze was tender and warm, with a hint of rosy color at the corners of his eyes.
"Not busy? Can a CEO really clock out on time?"
If she remembered right, he had just taken over the Howard Group's affairs.
Alexander took Catherine's hand, smiling gently, "A CEO might not, but your boyfriend sure can."
The Howard Group's issues were endless, but Alexander never felt he had enough time with Catherine.
Annie chimed in as she drove, "Ms. Windsor, we could've parked at the front entrance, but you had to walk a bit."
"What happened?"
"I parked the car, but your company's security made me move, saying that spot was reserved for Tony!"
Annie was clearly annoyed just talking about it.
"I told them I was picking up Ms. Windsor, but the guard said Tony's word was law at Radiant Treasures!"
Not wanting to stir up trouble for Catherine, Annie held back her frustration.
Annie quickly added, "Ms. Windsor, Mr. Howard was really upset, but I held him back!"
In Alexander's eyes, anything related to Catherine was top priority, and there were no small matters.
But getting worked up over a parking spot with security seemed... a bit childish.
Alexander quietly turned his head, gazing at the scenery outside, pretending nothing had happened.
Catherine didn't miss the slight blush on his ears.
"Did you get mad at the security?"
"No. Annie's just exaggerating."
Catherine hooked her pinky around Alexander's, turning to admire his profile.
With just that face, women flocked to him! But only Catherine knew how playful Alexander could be when it came to love.
Annie pursed her lips, hands on the steering wheel, frowning.
She wasn't exaggerating!
"What's with this car ahead, blocking the road and not moving? Are they nuts?"
The security guard ran over, oblivious to Catherine in the car.
"Sorry, our company policy is that Mr. Gibson's car leaves first every day. You'll have to wait."
Annie was stunned!
How many ridiculous rules had Tony set up in the company?
Catherine chuckled softly.
"I thought Mr. Gibson was young, but it turns out he's from ancient times, thinking he's a king!"
