Chapter 31 Really Worked Too Hard!

'This is Philip Windsor! My secretary couldn't even score a meeting with this top-tire lawyer Philip, who needs a financial statement just to make an appointment with him. Broke folks don't even get a shot at his services! How the heck did Catherine get in touch with him?' Oliver was floored!

Philip, with a bit of heat, said, "Mr. Smith, even if you once looked after Catherine, you got no ties with her now! Catherine's got her own family. Mrs. and Ms. Smith ain't her mom and sis. Watch your mouth!"

Oliver, with a stiff neck, shot back, "We raised her for eighteen years, and now she ditches us over some petty stuff. What's wrong with asking her to let them go?"

"Plus, I've been hanging around here for days just to see Catherine!"

Philip sneered,

"In your book, kidnapping is petty?"

"Kidnapping? No way! My wife was just worried and wanted to take her back to her old home in the sticks. Mr. Windsor, don't blame me for not giving you a heads-up. Catherine can't afford your fees. Don't let her fool you!"

Philip was almost laughing from anger!

He held back his rage, turned to Catherine, and spoke softly, "Catherine, if I do something nice in a sec, just act like you didn't see it, okay?"

Catherine nodded like a good kid, "Okay, but I still gotta ask him something."

Oliver eyed Catherine suspiciously and said coldly, "What do you wanna ask me? If you are thinking about coming back to the Smith family, forget it! I don't want a heartless daughter like you! If you don't come to the station with me, I'll dig up Elodie's grave and make sure she can't rest in peace!"

A flicker of anger flashed in Catherine's eyes!

'Elodie is also Oliver's mom, who raised him with so much effort. How could Oliver say such a thing?' She was the nicest person in the Smith family to me. When Oliver and Celeste were too busy to care, it was Elodie who raised me, holding me in her arms and rocking me in the wicker chair. Those are the warmest memories of my childhood!'

'When I got food poisoning from Clara's candy, Oliver and Celeste didn't even check on me. It was Elodie, despite her age, who carried me around looking for a doctor and took care of me herself!'

'When Oliver struggled to start his business, it was Elodie who emptied her savings to support him.'

Thinking of Oliver's words made Catherine feel sad for Elodie.

"If you do that, I'll make you regret it!" Catherine said.

Oliver felt a bit guilty. He was just trying to scare Catherine, not really planning to dig up Elodie's grave.

Catherine spoke calmly, "What's your deal with the director of Angel's Haven Orphanage?"

Oliver was caught off guard.

'How does Catherine know about Angel's Haven Orphanage?'

'Could she have found out something?'

"Do I gotta tell you about my college buddies? Catherine, I'm telling you, if you don't come back with me today, I'll announce in the papers tomorrow that I'm cutting ties with you! Catherine, do you even have any conscience?" Oliver ranted.

Catherine ignored his ranting, obediently walking back behind Philip.

"I've asked everything I need to," she said.

Philip clapped his hands, and immediately a bunch of burly dudes in black suits popped out from behind the Cayenne, surrounding Oliver.

"Since Mr. Smith said it was all out of kindness, I'll be kind enough to send you back to your old home!"

The burly dudes immediately stepped forward, lifted Oliver, and tossed him into a van, driving him away!

Oliver, pushing fifty and worn out from all his social hobnobbing, was no match for the beefy bodyguards. His arm got yanked out of place from all the struggling, but he couldn't break free!

Catherine tugged on Philip's sleeve.

Philip immediately turned to Catherine, lowering his head a bit, and asked gently, "Catherine, got any instructions?"

"His old home is in Osflow."

Oliver had made his fortune in a tiny city called Osflow, a place even poorer than Tranquil County, and he hadn't set foot there in twenty years.

A trip from Osflow to Serenitia City would take four days!

Philip's eyes lit up, and he said with a grin, "Alright, I promise to send him back to his old home! Let's go buy some brooches. We'll get a hundred of them. I heard Quinn Couture has new stuff. I'll buy them all for you!"

Catherine stayed quiet. 'Last time, Charles had cleaned out Quinn Couture's stock just to give me clothes!I know exactly what new items Quinn has in the store.'

Those were the designs she had sketched on the plane on her way back to the Windsor family. Each casual sketch had become a hit, turning into fashionable items sought after by the wealthy women of Imperia City.

Simon, standing in the store, saw Philip in a custom-made suit, smiling brightly!

'Here he is, the guy who calls to clear out the store!' Simon saw the stunning girl following Philip. 'Isn't that my heartless boss? Could this be Catherine's new way of inspecting the store?'

Catherine gave Simon a look, signaling him not to spill the beans about their relationship.

"Bring out all your latest brooches. I want to buy them all for my sister!" Philip said.

The staff immediately brought out all the brooches, even last year's leftovers.

Philip waved his hand and said, "Wrap them all up! And as for your clothes, see what suits my sister, and wrap them all!"

'Why would I need so many clothes?' Catherine thought.

"Philip, I already have a ton of clothes. My closet at home is bursting. I don't need any more for now," she said.

"Your closet is full? Then I'll buy you a new house right away. Do you like this community? I have a house there too. How about I give it to you?"

Philip immediately took out his phone, showing Catherine the most famous wealthy area in Luminara City, Golden Manor, next to Imperia City.

Catherine quickly refused, "No need, I prefer living with Aurora, Brandon, and you."

"You're right. Then I'll buy it for you as a birthday gift."

Simon was floored!

'This guy who buys houses without blinking is actually Catherine's family?'

'Catherine is actually the daughter of the Windsor family!'

Philip looked at the mountain of clothes in front of him, rubbed his chin, and said, "Clothes are still necessary for girls like you. And matching shoes and accessories, put them all on the bill and send them to The Windsor Mansion."

Simon's smile was as bright as a flower, "Sir, that will be one hundred and fifty million dollars. After a discount, it's one hundred million dollars. Cash or card?"

Quinn never offered discounts, but since it was Catherine buying, Simon was afraid of getting in trouble later if he didn't offer one.

Philip was speechless, "One hundred million dollars in cash?"

'Even if I could get it, the store couldn't hold it!'

Simon skillfully took out the card machine, "Please."

'Catherine is truly amazing. To boost the store's sales, she even brought her brother to shop. How clever!'

'Since Catherine is working so hard, I can't slack off!'

'I'll bring my family to shop here after I get back!'
