Chapter 136 The Ten Billion Dollars Contract

After she hung up on Dominic, Catherine's mini-computer let out a little beep. She sat down, fired it up, popped in her custom network card, and jumped straight onto the dark web. Her IP was now a ghost—no way even the Windsor family could track her late-night moves.

Jared: [Miss, I found out Lila's gonna call you and push you to go to the hospital. Oliver probably put her up to it this morning.]

Catherine: [Oliver?]

Jared: [Yeah, seems like he wants you to marry Brent, that gambling loser who's up to his neck in debt. Want me to handle it?]

Catherine: [Nah, let Brent's creditors deal with him.]

Brent was drowning in debt, and those shady casinos in Osflow had ties to the Galactic Aurora Collective. Catherine and Oscar had picked up some sketchy businesses while cleaning up at those underground casinos with just a deck of cards. Luckily, their employees had stayed in line over the years.

Jared: [Alright, you've been too nice before. Mercury and the crew got Elodie's DNA last night. Now we just need Oliver's. Should I take care of him?]

Jared thought, 'I've been itching to deal with Oliver! The guy's been out of control, not realizing he owes all his success to Catherine's secret help. Without her, he'd be a nobody!'

Catherine: [I'll handle it. Where are they now?]

Jared: [They're heading to Bright Heal Hospital. I'll be outside to back you up.]

Catherine nodded, shut down her mini-computer, quickly took it apart, and turned it into a harmless-looking desk ornament. With everything set, she slipped out of the Windsor family mansion without a soul noticing.

Late at night, Bright Heal Hospital.

Oliver sat in a wheelchair, pushed by Celeste, with a few Brown family members trailing behind.

Declan stopped a nurse with a smile. "Hey, we're looking for Mrs. Lila Windsor. Which room is she in?"

"Lila's in the ICU. It's not visiting hours now. Come back at 8 AM tomorrow."

Oliver was floored. 'How did Lila end up in the ICU? She sounded fine when I called her earlier! If Lila's sick, where are we gonna find Catherine?'

Declan was getting antsy. "Oliver, where are we gonna find Catherine? I don't care; she has to marry our Brent!"

Oliver was frustrated too. His eyes darted around the hospital corridor and suddenly, he spotted a familiar figure at the end of the hallway. "Quick, push me over there!"

Celeste pushed Oliver towards the person at the end of the hallway. "You're Catherine's dad, right? You came to our house to pick her up last time. Remember me?"

Dylan, the driver, was busy with some hospital paperwork for Marcus. He looked at Oliver, puzzled, thinking, 'Who is this guy? He looks kinda familiar.'

Oliver jogged Dylan's memory. "Last time, you were the gatekeeper for the Windsor family. We met then!"

Oliver assumed Catherine's dad was just a security guard for the Windsors, which was how she got to know them.

Dylan frowned. "Are you Catherine's old foster dad? I've got stuff to do, move aside."

'The whole Windsor family knows how badly this family treated Catherine! If it weren't for the hospital cameras, I'd have slapped them. Catherine's such a sweet and sensible girl; they must be nuts to treat her so poorly!' Dylan thought.

Still thinking about those subsidies from Tranquil County, Oliver wasn't about to let Dylan go. "Come on, we're all Catherine's fathers, right? So, we're basically family."

"Family? With you? I'm not Catherine's father. What do you want?" Dylan shot back.

Oliver rubbed his hands together nervously. "Well, I heard Tranquil County has some subsidies. We raised Catherine for years; shouldn't we get some of that money too?"

Dylan finally got it—they were here for cash! "You didn't want the $10 billion contract before, and now you want benefits? Too late!"

Oliver was floored. 'Ten billion dollars! When did that happen?'

"When I picked up Catherine, as per her biological parents' request, I brought you a gift worth $10 billion, but your servant destroyed the contract. Now you want benefits? Dream on!" Dylan said.

Oliver's voice shook. "Can you tell me, who exactly are Catherine's biological parents?"

'Who could offer a $10 billion contract?' Oliver wondered.

Dylan waved over a few special forces soldiers. "Throw them out."

'I don't want to talk to them at all! They mistreated Catherine before, and now they know they can get benefits from her, so they come crawling back? They are so shameless!' Dylan thought.

"No! Don't throw me out! Tell me clearly, who are Catherine's parents?"

Dylan looked at him with disdain. "Get out!"

Watching them get tossed out, Dylan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Oliver was completely dazed. "Celeste, do you think Catherine's family can really come up with a $10 billion contract?"

'And that Dylan just now, he could command special forces soldiers. I suddenly have a bad feeling. Could it be that Catherine's family isn't just some poor farmers in the mountains?' Oliver thought.

Celeste was also puzzled. "If Catherine's family is really rich, would she be working as a caregiver? Her clothes doesn't look like any brand-name stuff."

Those clothes didn't even have a logo; they definitely weren't from any big brand.

Oliver nodded. "That makes sense. Maybe that guy really is Catherine's father, just putting on airs. Forget it, we'll find Catherine and ask her directly."

As Oliver was thinking, he looked up and saw Dubhe standing not far away! His eyes lit up, and he quickly had Celeste push him over. "Are you Catherine's friend? I saw you in Serenitia City before!"

Dubhe looked at Oliver with a blank expression. He had accompanied Catherine to handle some business in Serenitia City before, so Oliver must have seen him then.

"Oh, you're Catherine's classmate, right? Our family came to the hospital, and we suddenly can't reach Catherine. Can you help me contact her? Look at me, I'm so sick, and Catherine doesn't even want to come see me. Even if Catherine is heartless to me, I can't blame her!" Oliver said pitifully.

Dubhe felt his fists itching just looking at him. Dubhe was the least intimidating-looking member of the Galactic Aurora Collective, with a friendly smile and a round face that made him seem easy to bully.

Seeing Dubhe, Oliver knew this must be an easy-to-deceive, honest person!

Sure enough, after Oliver shed a couple of tears, Dubhe pushed his wheelchair and started heading out of the hospital. "I'll take you to her."

Oliver was overjoyed! He quickly had his people follow as he thought, 'There are six of us this time, and even if we have to tie her up, we will take Catherine back. Once Catherine is with me, everything else will be up to me.'
