Chapter 301 Does George Have a Crush on Emilia?
George's mind was filled with chaotic images, and he couldn't help but imagine how miserable Catherine and Elodie's lives must have been.
Catherine calmly watched George, who was still lost in his imagination. "George, can you help me give him a tetanus shot?"
"I'll go get it."
Alexander had several metal stab wounds, and George noticed them too. Knowing the consequences of not treating them promptly, he left without another word.
The office was left with just Catherine and Alexander.
She handed Alexander a shirt, her usually indifferent face showing a hint of concern she hadn't even noticed herself. "Don't do this kind of thing next time. If something happens to you, what about your grandpa?"
Alexander looked up at Catherine and smiled, "It's okay, my grandfather has experience with this kind of thing."
'This kind of experience is something he probably doesn't want!' Thinking of this, Catherine rolled her eyes in exasperation.
Seeing Catherine's lively little gestures, Alexander felt his heart lighten. It seemed she was more vibrant in front of him.
Everything he did was worth it!
"Alexander, don't do this kind of thing next time." Catherine looked down at Alexander, "At least, you should take me with you."
"What if I say this is my business? It's something I willingly do."
"Then the things you bring back are yours. I don't want them. If you think you're getting them for me, then this has something to do with me."
Catherine wasn't someone who liked hiding behind others. While occasionally experiencing the protection of the Windsor family was nice, Catherine wouldn't let others shield her while she charged ahead!
What she liked was always moving forward together!
If she ever considered being with Alexander, she wouldn't want to hide behind him!
Alexander was first surprised, then laughed heartily when he realized what Catherine had said. He placed his hand on Catherine's waist, resting his head against her abdomen, and chuckled softly.
The sound was indescribably joyful and relieved. "Alright, I won't hide things from you next time. If there's any plan, I won't make decisions for you."
Catherine let him hold her and said seriously, "Also, using perfume to cover your wounds is very foolish."
"Do you not like this scent?" Alexander deliberately shifted the focus of the conversation, and Catherine, noticing his intention, didn't expose him.
"Not really."
"Then tell me what scent you like, and I'll wear it next time I see you. Making you happy is a good thing."
George returned with the tetanus shot and overheard Alexander's words as he entered.
He couldn't help but say, "Mr. Howard, what little trick are you playing now?"
'Do I not understand how people date these days? What kind of development is this!' He thought.
Alexander raised an eyebrow. "Dr. Windsor, I heard from my subordinates that Ms. Hughes went to another hospital to bandage her wounds. Is she not interested in your hospital?"
There was no way someone wouldn't be interested in a hospital.
The only possibility was that she was not interested in the people in the hospital!
George's eyelid twitched.
But he said in a dignified manner, "It's her freedom to choose which hospital to go to. She should choose a place that's convenient for her."
Alexander smiled without saying a word and handed the shot to Catherine.
George almost exploded! "Mr. Howard, Catherine doesn't know how to give intravenous injections. Are you doubting my medical skills?"
Alexander said calmly, "No, I don't trust an emotionally unstable doctor. Look in the mirror, and you'll see how bad your expression looks right now. My biggest trait is valuing my life."
Catherine suppressed a smile and took the shot, administering it skillfully and smoothly.
George was at a loss for words. "Does my expression really look that bad?"
Catherine nodded, "Yes, very bad. George, if you like Emilia, you should pursue her."
"I'm just being responsible for my patients. How does that mean I like her?"
"George, we all can see it. Mom even asked me when you and Emilia are getting married."
George's eyes widened, and the next second, his ears turned red. Facing Catherine's calm and seemingly all-knowing gaze, George just wanted to disappear.
"George, Emilia is great, but if you don't take the initiative, she probably won't either," Catherine added.
Emilia was very meticulous. Growing up on her own, she had her own way of thinking about relationships and emotions. Whether it was George himself or the Windsor family's background, it meant Emilia wouldn't be too proactive.
George covered his face and squatted down, rubbing his slightly hot face. "Catherine, if you were in Emilia's situation and you liked Alexander, would you pursue him?"
Catherine was speechless. Why did George throw such a question at her?
She met Alexander's amused gaze and smiled. "I wouldn't, because Alexander would pretend to be a driver."
Being exposed by Catherine, Alexander felt a bit embarrassed!
It was all a misunderstanding back then. Alexander had thought Catherine became an assassin due to poverty, and to prevent her from distancing herself because of his background, he chose that flimsy excuse.
George added, "But didn't you see through it back then?"
Catherine was smart, and with the Faceless Ones, she knew the Shadow Syndicate's operations were no worse than the Faceless Ones. Alexander's income wouldn't be so low that he'd need to be a driver.
She just thought Alexander had some unspeakable reason and didn't want to delve too deeply, or maybe she wasn't interested in Alexander's affairs at that time.
"It doesn't matter. What matters is, George, are you really not going to pursue Emilia? I have a friend who's quite interested in her."
George stood up abruptly, almost hitting his head. "What friend? What did Emilia say?"
George looked visibly nervous and uneasy.
The Windsor family's children had no experience in love.
George didn't even know if he liked Emilia!
But every time he saw Emilia, he couldn't help but want to care for her!
When he didn't see her, he'd wander around the underground fight club, and if he did run into Emilia, she'd ask why he was so free.
Indeed, he was really busy, with endless meetings and research, but without seeing her, George felt an emptiness inside!
"I just think, with everything Emilia's family is going through, if I bother her now, she'll probably be annoyed, right?" George looked a bit dejected! "Besides, Emilia doesn't like me."
To George, Emilia was just too outstanding.
Emilia was smart and beautiful, handling everything with ease, exuding a resilience and vitality that seemed to shine. That vibrant charm was something George lacked!
He admired Emilia's courage and perseverance, felt for her struggles, and pitied her tragic past.
'Is this what liking someone means?' He thought.
Catherine had no experience in love either. To be honest, the Windsor family's children's love lives were a blank slate!
"So, does this mean you have a crush on Emilia?" Catherine asked.
