Chapter 267 Someone Committed Suicide? Catherine Takes Action
"What's up? It's not like you to be so interested in a patient. What's going on with Ms. Harrison?" Gavin asked.
Catherine handed the medical record to Gavin casually. "I think someone might be messing with her mind on purpose."
The Harrison Family had always kept Paloma well-protected, never letting her leave the estate.
Gavin put down his fork, looking serious. "Are you for real?"
"That's my initial thought. I'll know more once I see her."
"Okay, she's coming back for a follow-up in a few days. You can check her out then."
Catherine was quiet for a moment, then looked up. "Did Felix ask you for meds?"
Gavin's hand shook a bit. He wanted to dodge the question, but when he looked up, Catherine's clear eyes seemed to see right through him.
Gavin sighed and gave a wry smile. "I can't hide anything from you! If you were a doctor, the Windsor Family would have two geniuses! Yeah, Felix did ask for some meds. His health isn't looking great lately. You probably noticed too, right?"
Catherine nodded, looking concerned.
Aurora had mentioned that Felix had been really tired lately and was craving strong flavors in his food.
At Felix's age, it was normal to have some health issues, especially since he recently had surgery and hadn't fully recovered.
"Felix doesn't want me to tell you about his health. He knows his own condition!" Gavin felt a bit guilty. If Alexander found out, he might be in trouble. But Felix didn't want it mentioned, so Gavin didn't dare call Alexander.
Catherine sighed. "Let me see the medical record. I'll handle Felix's meds from now on."
"If you take over, Felix might hang in there a bit longer." Gavin felt relieved and quickly handed over Felix's medical record.
Felix's issues were still heart-related. He had heart bypass surgery years ago, and at his age, some organs were starting to fail.
Felix must have known his condition and secretly asked Gavin for meds, pretending everything was fine in front of his family.
Gavin had other patients to see, so he left after a quick chat with Catherine.
While waiting for George to finish surgery, Catherine was going through the medical record.
Suddenly, she heard faint crying from the next office.
Her instincts as a former assassin made her very sensitive to such sounds.
She remembered the next office belonged to a surgeon, a middle-aged guy who had recently been praised, but the crying sounded like a young girl.
Catherine got up, walked to the office door, and knocked. "Hey, do you need help?"
The crying stopped immediately.
A nurse passing by with a medication cart said, "Ms. Windsor, are you looking for Eddy Bowers? He's still in surgery!"
"Who's in there then?" Catherine asked.
"Maybe a patient waiting for Eddy, or one of his interns." The nurse hurried off to deliver meds, as the ER staff were always in a rush.
Catherine stood at the door, feeling something was off. She turned the doorknob and softly said, "Excuse me, I'm coming in."
The office was empty, no one in sight!
Suddenly, the muffled crying started again, coming from the office cabinet!
Opening the cabinet door, Catherine found a young girl in a lab coat curled up inside, her wrist slashed with a scalpel, biting her wrist in pain, letting out weak cries!
Blood was gushing from her wrist, staining the lab coat a shocking red.
Catherine quickly picked up the girl and dialed Gavin's number. "We need emergency care. OR 3, sign for me, hurry!"
Gavin was still processing the situation when he heard chaos on the other end, with nurses shouting.
"Isn't this Jessa Greer? Get the OR ready!"
"Jessa slit her wrist! We need to save her!"
Gavin rushed over, and Catherine nodded at him from the OR door. They entered together.
On the operating table, Gavin stepped aside. "You take over!"
"You can handle this surgery," Catherine said.
"I'm not familiar with her condition; you're more precise."
Catherine didn't hesitate, setting up the equipment while talking to Gavin. "What's her blood type? Does the blood bank have reserves?"
"She's RH negative? I'll call the blood bank staff immediately!" Gavin said.
RH negative blood was rare in every hospital's blood bank.
Finding a matching blood type quickly was a huge challenge.
Catherine stayed calm. "Juniper is also in the hospital. If the blood bank doesn't have it, check her blood type."
Catherine remembered from the medical record that Paloma's blood type was RH negative, making it likely that Juniper shared the same type as Paloma's child.
Gavin quickly instructed an assistant doctor to arrange for blood and find Juniper.
The assistant doctors were nervous, racing against time. None of them expected Jessa's blood type to be RH negative.
A fellow resident training with Jessa couldn't help but cry, covering her face. "I'm sorry, Prof. Gavin. I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it."
They had graduated together and joined the hospital for residency, now seeing a friend on the operating table, fighting for her life.
Gavin didn't make it hard for her. "You're not in the right state to be here. Go outside."
"Can I stay and record the surgery?"
"Wait outside," Gavin ordered.
No emotions were allowed on the operating table.
Even if a loved one was on the table, one must stay calm!
Juniper hurried to the OR. "I am RH negative. If needed, I can donate blood!"
In such a life-and-death situation, Juniper didn't hesitate, rolling up her sleeve.
An hour later, the OR light went off.
In the adjacent OR, George exited, removing his mask, and saw Juniper sitting outside. "Juniper, why are you here? Are you feeling unwell?"
"I came with Catherine to bring you food. We encountered a patient needing blood, and luckily, my blood was a match."
George and Juniper watched the OR door open, seeing Catherine and Gavin emerge together. They wondered, 'Why is Catherine in the OR? Is the patient needing Juniper's blood Catherine?'
