Chapter 108 Catherine is Still the Best in the World!
Charles was chatting with Catherine, mostly just answering her questions about what he'd been up to.
When Catherine heard that Steven drove himself to Osflow, she asked, "If he was knocked out, how did the surveillance show him driving there?"
Charles explained, "Juniper messed with the surveillance, swapping the footage with an old recording of Steven driving to Osflow."
"What about arresting them?" she asked.
Even though that mountain was Charles' private property, getting Oliver and Steven convicted would still be tough.
"Philip turned that mountain into a nature reserve. Grave robbing there is a big deal. Plus, with trespassing and property damage, we've got enough to charge them. Richard set up a bunch of surveillance cameras and there are lots of patrols; the evidence is solid," Charles explained.
'So, several members of the Windsor family are involved in this?' Catherine thought, a warm smile spreading across her face.
"Thanks, but this is just a small matter, no need to waste your time," she said.
"Everything about you is important," Charles said earnestly. "I know you were used to being independent in the Smith family, but now you have trustworthy family members. You're the youngest in our family, so you should be a bit more willful."
George leaned against the office door, sighing with his hand on his forehead. "Just now, we were saying Charles would never betray us, and then he turns around and does just that."
Despite his words, his gaze towards Catherine was nothing but gentle.
"Catherine, is Alexander with you?" Charles asked.
Catherine glanced at Alexander beside her and handed over her phone.
Charles got straight to the point. "Esme contacted an overseas account. I suspect it's the person supplying her with Vitality Pills."
"I know. I've already arranged for someone to track it," Alexander said.
The Howard Group was monitoring all of Esme's outgoing calls in real-time.
"Is George over there?" Charles asked.
Alexander turned on the speakerphone, "George, since you're there, keep an eye on Esme."
George was almost furious, also wanting to stay by Catherine's side. "Charles, there are other people in the family. Why do I have to keep an eye on Esme?"
Charles never had a good attitude towards his younger brothers. "I checked your surgery schedule; you don't have any surgeries for the next three days."
"But I'm busy too. I planned to spend these three days with Catherine!" George said, always so busy, finally making time to spend with Catherine.
Charles said mercilessly, "The Vitality Pills are very important and pose a threat to Grandpa's safety. You're a doctor, so it's reasonable for you to handle this."
'Does it sound reasonable to have me watch Esme?' George thought.
Charles had always held a high position in the Windsor family. After Brandon devoted himself to charity, the Windsor children all listened to Charles.
George, dejected, said, "I got it. I'll go."
Hanging up the phone, George looked at Catherine with a sense of tragedy, "Catherine, I'm going now!"
Catherine couldn't help but chuckle at George's pitiful expression. "George, next time you have a break, I'll go out with you."
George's previously dim eyes lit up instantly. Indeed, Catherine was the best in the world!
George then turned to Alexander, "Mr. Howard, I left in a hurry and didn't bring anyone. Can I borrow your secretary? I'll return her in a couple of days."
"If she agrees, I have no objections," Alexander said. Annie was very competent, and George was getting himself a good helper.
Reluctantly, George left.
At the local police station in Osflow, Steven was staring at the surveillance footage in shock. He really did drive himself to Osflow!
Oliver sneered, "I think someone has brain cancer, forgetting even something like this."
Steven was genuinely shocked. He didn't remember any of this!
The Brown family members sat on the other side, nervously watching Oliver.
Celeste whispered, "Oliver, let's talk about this at home. The most important thing now is to get out."
Oliver was furious just looking at the three of them! "Talk at home? So you can keep stealing my money to support the Brown family?"
Being scolded by Oliver in front of the Johnson family, Celeste felt humiliated. "What do you mean by that? What's yours is mine!"
Oliver was enraged, slamming the table and wincing in pain. "I don't even know about these expenses for years. You all have to pay me back. I'm sick and need money for treatment. If you don't pay me back, I'll divorce you!"
Celeste looked at him in disbelief, asking, "Are you crazy? We've been married for so many years, and you want to divorce me over some money?"
Oliver was so angry and said, "Some money? Do you have any idea how much you've given to the Brown family?"
Hearing about paying back, Declan and Anouk got anxious as they thought, 'We have used the money Oliver gave us to build a house and marry off our son. The remaining money is used for our grandson Brent Brown's education, and we will need more for his future marriage! We have no money left and are counting on Celeste to keep sending us money.'
"Do you have any proof that you didn't know about these expenses? Isn't it your duty to support your elders?" Declan said.
"Supporting elders doesn't mean supporting your entire family!" Oliver shouted, just calculating the money given over the years making his heart bleed because that was his hard-earned money! "If you don't pay me back, I'll get a lawyer to sue you!"
Declan squinted his eyes and said, "We can pay you back, but you have two daughters. Marry Catherine into our family, and we'll be even."
In this way, the Brown family would profit, gaining a beautiful granddaughter-in-law.
Oliver frowned and said, "No way, Catherine doesn't even answer my calls now. You think she'll marry into your family? Dream on!"
Celeste nudged Oliver. "It's for Catherine's good too. We know each other well, and the Brown family won't look down on her. Aren't you sick? She can help you contact the Windsor family's doctors after marriage. Catherine won't disobey us."
Oliver's eyes lit up!
