Chapter 181 Juniper will Always be the Windsor Family's Treasure.
Juniper stood up and handed Felix a few tissues. "Grandpa Howard, don't worry about me. You've seen me grow up, and I've always been fine, never had any real problems."
"You're right, I'm not sad. I'm not crying, it's just that my eyes tear up easily as I get older." Felix quickly wiped his tears, but the more he wiped, the more they flowed.
'If Pal really forgets Juniper, even if Juniper finds her, she'll just face a mom who doesn't remember anything. How much pain will that bring to Juniper? Why does she have to go through so much?' Felix thought, sighing deeply. "Juniper's mom is from the Harrison Family. When Pal had her accident, I couldn't face Owen anymore. You all know Evander's never been into business; he's always loved doing research. Pal was a junior colleague at his research institute."
Felix's face was full of bitterness as he shook his head, sighing several times. "We old friends, coming out of the war and heading back to the grave together, the one I feel most ashamed to face is Owen!"
Marcus frowned and said, "The Harrison Family? Now that you mention it, Juniper does look a lot like Pal when she was young. Why didn't you say anything before?"
Felix gave a bitter smile. "After Pal passed away, Evander always privately considered Pal his wife, and I respected his choice. But Pal is gone. We couldn't possibly go to the Harrison Family to arrange a marriage. Owen would have killed me! I was too ashamed to mention it, so I didn't.
"Evander's had a hard time all these years. A few years ago, he almost tried to kill himself to find Pal. I stopped him and sent him to Tranquil County, hoping that giving him something to do would help him shift his focus.
"As a result, once Evander went there, he seemed to regain his spirit. I was happy! Alexander's father may be weak, but at least I still have Alexander. Evander is all alone, with nothing. I really fear he might leave before I do."
Felix wiped the moisture from his face. "I am very scared! Last year, when Evander came back, he pulled me aside at the hospital and talked for a long time. He even mentioned Pal, but he didn't seem upset. I thought he had moved on, but it turned out that was when he found out Juniper's DNA matched his! Juniper, I don't ask you to forgive Evander or to come home. I just hope you don't blame him. His life has been hard too!"
For a moment, no one spoke.
Marcus sighed heavily. "Just because he's had a hard time, does that mean Juniper has to suffer? Catherine and Juniper are both innocent in this. Our Windsor Family never thought of abandoning Juniper. Felix, look at Juniper. Such a good kid, she's the pride of our whole family! Even if there were difficulties, Evander's behavior is also inappropriate. How could he just abandon such a wonderful child?"
Felix gave a bitter smile. "He didn't dare!"
Catherine suddenly spoke up, "Does Evander have depression?"
The last time she saw Evander, Catherine noticed his mental state wasn't good, and he seemed extremely closed off.
Felix nodded. "Yes, but he's much better these past two years. At least he's not trying to kill himself to find Pal anymore."
Grace looked at Felix and said helplessly, "You've had a hard time too!"
"Evander scares me. I'm afraid that when I go, Alexander will be all alone too, so I keep urging him to get married early, but he just ignores me!" Felix said.
Alexander said helplessly, "Grandpa, you have a different reason every time when you urge me to get married. How can I believe you?"
Juniper looked around at her whole family. If it weren't for her situation, they wouldn't all be gathered together. She cleared her throat and spoke up, "I've thought it through! I'll go back to the Howard Family, but I'll always be Juniper Windsor. Felix is my grandpa, which just means I have one more elder who loves me. As for Evander, I don't want to see him right now, but I don't blame him."
Felix looked at Juniper, nodding. "It's up to you. You can keep the Windsor name. Marcus, I have to thank you for raising such a wonderful granddaughter."
Marcus snorted but his expression softened. "Of course, my granddaughter is wonderful! Both of my granddaughters are the best! Juniper is just being kind to you. She is still a Windsor Family child."
"I know, and the Howard Family will not shortchange Juniper. She can do whatever she wants. From now on, both the Howard Family and the Windsor Family are her homes!" Felix said.
Samuel muttered, "How did she become your granddaughter? I was hoping one day Juniper would take my last name, Martinez. You've really benefited from this..."
Juniper hugged Samuel's arm. "You're my grandpa too!"
"That's more like it," Samuel said.
Grace coughed. "How about Juniper and Catherine come live with us from now on? The Windsor Family has enough kids; the Martinez Mansion is too quiet."
Felix said, "Then I'll move in with Catherine and Juniper too."
Grace angrily said, "Do you have any shame?"
"Why wouldn't I? Marcus, Catherine will be my granddaughter-in-law, and Juniper is my biological granddaughter. We'll all be one family eventually!" Felix said.
"Get lost! Are you pushing your luck? They are the apple of the Windsor Family's eyes. Get out of here!" Marcus felt annoyed just looking at Felix and chased him and Alexander out, cursing, "Seeing you just irritates me!"
"You aren't any better! Except for Catherine and Juniper, the rest are all scoundrels!" Felix said.
The Windsor Family pretended not to hear anything.
Juniper secretly tugged on Catherine's hand, covering her face as she whispered, "Catherine, I want to go out for a bit. Will you come with me?"
"Where to?"
Juniper pulled Catherine into the car, fastening her seatbelt as she explained, "I want to go see the Harrison Manor. Catherine, you can drive, right?"
"I can." Catherine didn't hesitate, starting the car and driving a long way before saying, "But I don't have a license."
Juniper fell silent, thinking, 'Catherine doesn't have a license. What if something happened?'
"Should we wait for Philip? I'll call him," Juniper said.
Catherine kept her eyes on the road, driving smoothly and calmly. "You asked me because you didn't want them to know, right? I'm a good driver, and I know where the Harrison Manor is."
"But it's not safe. Should we take a cab?" Juniper asked.
Catherine glanced at a parked motorcycle on the side of the road, raising her chin slightly. "Then let's take that. I have a motorcycle license."
Half an hour later, a sleek black motorcycle pulled up outside the Harrison Estate, stopping by the flowerbeds.
Juniper clung to Catherine's waist the whole way, the cold wind calming her previously chaotic mind.
As she looked at the estate, Juniper's eyes grew complicated. "Is this the place?"
'Is this where my mother lives?' Juniper wondered.
A gentle voice came from inside the gate. "Ms. Winsor? Why are you standing at the gate? And who is this?"
