Chapter 306 Be Your Best Friend

Hearing Arabella used to be a tomb raider with Owen, the whole family was stunned!

Juniper couldn't imagine Arabella going into a tomb; it just seemed so strange.

Brad shrugged. "My teacher said Arabella is a genius; she learns quickly, but she's too ambitious. As soon as she learned tomb raiding, she wanted to explore an ancient tomb. My teacher said that tomb was full of dangers and shouldn't be raided."

Juniper was shocked!

For a moment, she didn't know whether to be amazed at Brad's teacher for having so many random skills or to be surprised by Arabella and Owen's past work.

Although she knew the Harrison family didn't exactly legitimately make their fortune, Juniper never expected Owen's partner to be Arabella!

Brad continued, "Later, they went their separate ways. Arabella said becoming a star and marrying a rich fool would be enough for her. Her partner didn't agree, so they split up."

Everyone fell silent.

Brad patted his forehead and looked at Felix, "Arabella's rich fool husband, that wouldn't be you, would it?"

Felix felt a mix of emotions.

His feelings were complicated, and after a moment, he closed his eyes. "What else did Arabella do?"

Having spent half a lifetime together, Felix realized he didn't know his wife at all!

It seemed like all these years, he and Arabella had been growing apart.

"What else did she do? I'm not sure. The last time she contacted me was when her daughter-in-law left, but I was in seclusion and didn't see her. Before that, she asked me about her partner." Brad shrugged indifferently. "It's normal in the tomb raiding business; having no descendants is common. Arabella's partner wanted a child and asked me to pray, but I didn't go. Arabella herself didn't do much of this kind of thing; she just had a shallow connection with her descendants."

As he spoke, Brad glanced at the people in front of him, who were all Arabella's descendants, and chuckled.

Catherine raised an eyebrow. "What about Mr. Harrison 's child?"

Brad shook his head. "He spent half his fortune to have a daughter, but she was often sick and had a tough life. His family's health and fortune were all poor. It's fate; there's nothing to be done but endure it!"

Brad yawned. "I'm tired. Where's my room?"

Alexander glanced at the complex expressions of Evander and Juniper. "Follow me."

Catherine and Brad followed Alexander upstairs.

On the stairs, Catherine asked, "Is there a way to break the curse?"

Brad looked at her. "Ms. Windsor, didn't you say you wouldn't meddle? Looks like you couldn't help it."

"It's not meddling."

Brad knew Catherine's temperament and didn't say much.

"It's all fate. Whether she can turn misfortune into fortune depends on her, not you! You've done all you can. Without you, the things in her head would have killed her! Do you think anyone else would dare operate on her?"

Before entering the room, Brad looked at Catherine with a serious expression. "Ms. Windsor, as an old friend, let me say this. Everyone has their own fate, and you've worked hard enough."

"You should think about yourself, not your family or friends. That's all I'll say."

"You invited me to pray for your grandmother, and I agreed."

With that, Brad entered the room and closed the door.

Catherine stared at the closed door, a bit dazed.

Being friends with someone who saw through everything could be a disadvantage.

In front of Brad, she seemed to have no secrets; everything she did was seen through.

But at least they were friends and maintained their dignity.

Alexander looked at Catherine standing at the door. For a rare moment, her face showed confusion and the demeanor of a girl her age—puzzled and a bit lost.

"Alexander, did I do something wrong?" Catherine asked.

Alexander's heart softened. He gently hugged Catherine, his deep voice magnetic. "You did everything right. Mr. Thornton just wants you to love yourself more."

In the past, Catherine had joined the Galactic Aurora Collective for Elodie. The daily training was grueling, but she persevered for Elodie!

Now, she cared about the Windsor family and the members of the Galactic Aurora Collective, and had new attachments.

"Has anyone ever told you, Catherine, that you've worked hard and done well?"

For years, Catherine had walked alone!

She had never heard such words from those around her!

For Elodie and the Galactic Aurora Collective, Catherine had to be strong, put aside her gender, forget her age, and walk a thorny path!

Alexander gently patted Catherine's head. "You're tired, right? But you're amazing. Every time I see what you've done, I feel proud."

"I think, in your grandma 's eyes, you're her pride too, always!"

Tears welled up in Catherine's eyes, soaking Alexander's shirt.

Feeling Catherine's emotions, Alexander's heart ached with tenderness and love! "From now on, try to rely on me more, okay?"

"When you're tired, need praise, or think of me, come to me. I'll always be by your side."

"Even as friends, you deserve the best friend, better than Brad, better than Emilia. Let me be your best friend, okay?"

Catherine's voice was muffled. "Okay, we'll be best friends."

At the hospital, sunlight streamed into Paloma's ward, the white sheets spotless.

Paloma slowly opened her eyes, her fingers moving slightly.

The sunlight was a bit harsh, so she closed her eyes again, listening to the commotion of medical staff around her. After a moment, she opened her eyes again.

Owen, with tears streaming down his face, exclaimed, "Paloma! You're awake? How do you feel? Mr. Davis is on his way!"

Paloma shook her head, then nodded, her voice hoarse. "Dad, I'm fine, don't worry."

She scanned the room as if looking for someone. "Dad, where's Juniper?"
