Chapter 44 Gift Me the Bright Moon in My Heart!
Alexander's eyes were glued to Catherine up on that stage. 'I’ve thought of a million scenarios, but never in my wildest dreams did I think she’d be a Windsor! And dang, she’s killing it in that dress!'
The dress hugged her waist just right, showing off her figure.
Every little detail of that dress was on point, flowing like waves and clouds as she moved. A pink diamond necklace sparkled on her graceful neck, and her hair fell like a waterfall, making her look like she stepped out of a fairy tale.
Brandon was busy introducing Catherine to everyone, raking in a bunch of birthday gifts.
Alexander started making his way towards Catherine!
"Hey, isn’t there some marriage deal between the Howard and Windsor families?"
"Yeah, look, Alexander’s heading straight for Catherine. They look like they’re made for each other."
"Totally, only the Howard family could match up to an angel like Catherine from the Windsor family."
Hearing the whispers around him, Alexander smirked a bit.
"Happy birthday, here’s my gift for you," Alexander said.
Catherine turned to look at Alexander, surprise flashing in her eyes.
Brandon slapped his forehead and quickly said, "Oh, Catherine, I forgot to introduce you. This is Alexander Howard, your fiancé. You two were promised to each other as kids, and now you finally meet. Alexander, this is my daughter, Catherine Windsor!"
Alexander nodded, a playful grin on his face, "Catherine Windsor? That’s a beautiful name, I’ll remember it!"
Catherine couldn’t help but notice how he emphasized "Windsor"!
'Fiancé? I knew I had one, but I never thought it’d be Alexander!'
'What happened to just being a driver to support the family?'
"My gift, for you."
Alexander handed over a neatly wrapped box, with elegant writing on it: [To the moon in my heart. Alexander.]
Seeing the box, Brandon couldn’t stop smiling and said,
"Didn’t you already give Catherine a gift? Why another one? That’s too generous!"
Alexander’s gaze softened as he looked at Catherine, "That one was for Ms. Windsor. This one is for Catherine."
Brandon scratched his head.
'What’s the difference?'
'I don’t get young people’s romance at all!'
'Aren’t both gifts for Catherine?'
'But if Alexander’s giving two gifts, he must really like her!'
Seeing the kids get along made him super happy as an elder. He was even thinking about whether the grandkids would take the Windsor or Howard name.
Catherine said calmly, "Thank you."
"You're welcome, 'fiancé'."
'Is this guy nuts?' she thought.
She was at a loss for words, but with so many eyes on her, she couldn’t embarrass Brandon and had to accept it.
"Ms. Windsor and Mr. Howard look like a perfect match. We’re so jealous."
"Ms. Windsor is stunning, and she and Mr. Howard are just perfect together!"
"Their kids will definitely be gorgeous!"
These comments didn’t sit well with the Windsor family.
'Our sister just got back, and we haven’t even had enough time with her yet!'
'How could she be taken away by a fiancé who just popped up out of nowhere!'
Charles stepped in front of Catherine, giving Alexander a once-over.
"Catherine just got home, and she has her own name. Mr. Howard, don’t freak her out."
George adjusted his glasses and flashed a seemingly kind smile, "Catherine's still young, no need to rush into marriage. Our Windsor family isn’t planning on marrying her off for at least the next ten years."
Catherine shot George a helpless look.
'In ten years, I’ll be ancient!'
Richard frowned at Alexander, pulling Catherine protectively behind him. "No offense, but Mr. Howard, you’re already twenty-four, right? That’s kinda old. Catherine’s only nineteen!"
Alexander was taken aback!
'I just turned twenty-four this year, how am I old?'
Philip glared at Alexander, "Mr. Howard, you’ve given your gift, so you can leave now, right?"
Juniper stood beside Catherine, seemingly chatting with her, but her sharp eyes were locked on Alexander, full of suspicion. "Catherine, if you don’t like him, just say so. Our Windsor family doesn’t need to marry off our daughters for some business deal. Your happiness is what matters most!"
A smile crept onto Catherine’s lips!
The Windsor siblings immediately formed a protective barrier around Catherine, leaving no gap.
Brandon was so moved by the kids' affection that he was almost in tears. "Don’t mess around. Mr. Howard came specifically to give Catherine a gift. You all should go entertain the guests and not make a scene."
Charles extended his hand to Alexander, "Mr. Howard, come with me. I saw several families here who have business with you."
Alexander kept his gentlemanly smile, "No, you go ahead. I want to stay here with Catherine."
George’s expression showed clear displeasure towards Alexander.
"Mr. Howard, this is your first time meeting Catherine, and you’re already this enthusiastic? Or are you like this with all pretty girls?"
Alexander smiled politely.
"I’m only like this with Catherine. Don’t worry, I’ve met Catherine many times before."
George didn’t buy it.
'You’re lying!'
'We’ve been busy with the birthday party prep these past few days and haven’t seen Catherine much. How could Alexander have met her many times?'
Richard, the hothead, said, "Mr. Howard, you talk like you’re head over heels for Catherine. Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?"
Alexander’s gaze fell on Catherine, "As long as Catherine understands my feelings, that’s enough."
Richard fell silent.
'How can Alexander be so thick-skinned!'
Suddenly, a video popped up on the giant screen in the center of the banquet hall!
Everyone gasped, covering their mouths in shock!
"Isn’t that Catherine in the video? Why is she getting out of such a beat-up car?"
"Does Catherine actually have a boyfriend? If so, Alexander is really..."
Esme hid in the control room, eagerly waiting for the chaos outside to start. She planned to rush out and tell Alexander she could be his bride!
Just thinking about that scene made Esme want to scream with excitement!
Catherine’s eyes locked onto the video.
It seemed to be shot from multiple angles, clearly showing her getting out of the car each time, with a sweet smile on her face and her anticipation while waiting for the car.
Juniper, who had already seen the video, hurriedly tried to cover for Catherine!
"This video must be doctored. You can see the signs of Photoshop!"
Charles, George, Richard, and Philip were also on high alert!
They didn’t care about the Windsor family’s reputation, but if this video got out, people would definitely gossip about Catherine, who was still too young to handle it!
