Chapter 162 Catherine Beats Up Esme
Brandon stormed up to Catherine, slamming his hands on the table, and glared at Marcus. "Dad! Do you even know what Ironclad Jail is? Philip almost died there last time! Catherine's just a kid, how can you send her to a place like that? Even if she didn't grow up with us, she's still the Windsor family's only biological daughter! She's your only granddaughter, how can you be so heartless?"
Marcus shot back, "You think I'm trying to hurt Catherine on purpose? This is about what really happened to your mother back then. If it weren't for those accidents, neither your mother nor Catherine would have gone through so much!"
Brandon was taken aback. "My mom? Dad, are you saying you know who my mom is?"
Marcus gave him a frustrated look. "I've been married to Lila for years and never slept with her. Do you think I don't know who your mom is?"
'I just needed solid proof to back up my suspicions, but Samuel and Felix are being all cagey and won't spill anything! Luckily, Catherine sent over the paternity test report,' Marcus thought.
Brandon saw the paternity test report on the table and heard Catherine say it was a test between him and Elodie. He was completely floored! He hugged Catherine tightly, tears streaming down his face. "Catherine! Thank you for always being there for Elodie!"
Catherine, a bit awkward, patted Brandon's back to comfort him.
Marcus snorted, "I've already made arrangements with Ironclad Jail. Alexander will go with Catherine; nothing will happen."
Brandon straightened up immediately. "Dad, why didn't you say you had everything sorted out? I was worried for nothing! I knew you wouldn't mistreat Catherine."
Marcus, losing his patience, shouted, "Get out!"
Leaving Marcus's study, Catherine got a call from Sarah.
"Ms. Windsor, can you come to the gallery? There's a situation here that needs your attention. A new gallery opened across the street, and the person in charge, Esme, has been causing us a lot of trouble while you were away!"
"Okay." Hanging up the phone, Catherine left The Windsor Manor and got into the car driven by Saturn.
The traffic in Imperia City was a nightmare, especially during rush hours and holidays.
Saturn turned the car onto a side road. He glanced in the rearview mirror, "Miss, someone's tailing us."
"Shake them off."
With a press of the gas pedal, Saturn pulled off some slick drifts, leaving only a cloud of exhaust behind.
A car was hot on their tail and even tried to ram into them!
After a failed attempt, the car tried to ram them again. Saturn smirked, thinking the Galactic Aurora Collective's modified car was tough to damage. "Miss, hold on tight!"
With a few counter-collisions, several motorcycles emerged from the intersection, surrounding the pursuing car.
The driver was bewildered, thinking, 'Wasn't I just supposed to take out a high school student? This setup doesn't look like something an ordinary high school student would have!'
Catherine got out of the car in front, gave the driver a cold glance, and said indifferently, "Clean it up."
"Got it. The traffic is too bad outside; you should ride a bike to get there. We'll handle this and make sure he spills everything," Saturn said.
Facing Saturn's warm smile, Catherine nodded, swung her long legs over a motorcycle by the roadside, and left the alley.
Outside the gallery, Landon and Sarah were anxiously waiting at the door.
"Ms. Windsor should be on her way, right?" Landon asked.
"I just called Ms. Windsor, and she said she'd be here in five minutes, but with the traffic in Imperia City today, it's jammed everywhere!" Sarah looked anxiously at the crowd in front of the gallery across the street. "If Ms. Windsor doesn't come soon, the people across the street will wreck our place. Should we call Mr. Windsor?"
Landon calmly replied, "If we call Mr. Windsor for everything, how will Ms. Windsor establish herself in the future? Even though they're family, the gallery is Ms. Windsor's business. If she doesn't contact Mr. Windsor, we shouldn't overstep our bounds."
Sarah nodded but still looked nervously at the other side.
Catherine's figure was nowhere to be seen, while the event at the gallery across the street was in full swing, with many media outlets present.
A woman in a pink princess dress emerged from the crowd, with a complete fox fur draped over her shoulder, looking like a walking fox. Esme, in high heels, walked to the gallery entrance, looking disdainfully at Landon and Sarah. "Catherine's dogs can guard the door? It's broad daylight, and you're not open for business, just standing here. Are you scared by our gallery's grand opening?"
Esme thought, 'I have transformed into the daughter of the Hughes family and don't believe Catherine won't be shocked by my presence! I imagine that the Windsor family will regret it and beg me to come home. I have it all planned out that once the Windsor family realize how outstanding I am, both the Windsor and Hughes families will be mine. All the humiliating things I have done will make Catherine pay the price!'
Landon said expressionlessly, "Ms. Hughes, this is our gallery's territory. Where we choose to stand has nothing to do with you."
Esme raised her hand and slapped Landon across the face! "Do you know who you're talking to?"
Landon was stunned by the slap, wondering whether Esme had no manners or she was just out of her mind to hit someone in front of so many people.
To avoid causing trouble for Catherine, Landon remained silent.
Seeing Landon not respond, Esme thought he was truly afraid of her, feeling a sense of superiority. Just as she was about to slap Sarah, a roaring sound came from behind.
A teal motorcycle zipped through like lightning in the jungle, stopping by the roadside. Catherine, dressed in sportswear and wearing a pink helmet, took it off, her hair flying in the wind. The sunlight seemed to highlight her, making her look both dashing and cool!
With a slender waist and long legs, Catherine exuded a special kind of heroism even on a motorcycle. Her beautiful face carried a cold expression as she looked down at Esme.
"Who are you?" Catherine asked.
Esme was almost furious seeing the motorcycle Catherine was riding as she thought, 'It is a new model released just last month, costing a million dollars, and it is hard to get even with money. Catherine's motorcycle has many custom symbols, clearly bought by the Windsor family! Why can Catherine easily have everything I dream of?!'
Esme gritted her teeth, "Catherine, you really are forgetful. I'm your sister, don't you recognize me? Are you deliberately targeting me?"
Catherine glanced at her indifferently. "What's your name?"
"Esme Hughes!" Esme was particularly confident, thinking Catherine probably didn't know she had joined the Hughes family and become Anthony's granddaughter. She expected Catherine to be shocked!
Catherine looked at her like she was an idiot. "Your last name is Hughes, mine is Windsor. You're my sister? Your language is foul, and so are your thoughts. It seems like your head is full of shit."
'Is Catherine crazy? How could she still dare to insult me after knowing I am the daughter of the Hughes family? Didn't she know the Hughes family's status in Imperia City? That must be it!' Esme thought, trembling with anger, her face powder falling off, pointing at Catherine but unable to say a word. "Catherine Windsor, you're really rude!"
Catherine stepped off the motorcycle, the keys dangling from her finger, and walked towards Esme.
Esme looked at her, feeling inexplicably intimidated but couldn't pinpoint why, thinking it must be Catherine's disrespectful gaze.
Catherine raised her hand and slapped Esme, swelling half of her face!
