Chapter 112 Taking You Home for a Visit

"What do you mean by that?" Catherine asked.

Ethan stepped forward to tuck Matthew in, giving Catherine a pleading look. "It's not the best place to explain. For his sake, let's talk outside."

"Alright."

Once they were out of the hospital room, Ethan said, "The guy's in prison now. After I took him from Angel's Haven Orphanage, the cops nabbed him pretty quick. I can tell you where he's locked up, but whether you can see him or get what you need, that's on you."

Catherine, her face hidden behind a mask, showed only her slightly furrowed brows.

Her eyes were stunning, with a cold glint, like a goddess from a snowy peak, untouched by the world. "Fine, but you better not be lying to me."

"Don't worry. I promised. No tricks here. And if you ever want to join Abyssal Blades, the door's always open!" Ethan saw a chance to recruit her, thinking, 'Even top brain surgeons won't touch Matthew's case. I've tried black market docs, but none can guarantee a cure! Only Phantom Doctor Moon could help Matthew! Her skills are even better than the legends. If she joins Abyssal Blades, we could rule the world!'

A hand wrapped around Catherine's slender waist from behind.

His hand was warm, resting on her waist, letting Catherine feel his strength.

Alexander, radiating coldness and a deadly vibe, glared at Ethan. "Ethan, you never know when to quit. Since that's the case, Shadow Syndicate will make sure to 'entertain' the members of Abyssal Blades."

Ethan's face changed instantly, realizing Nightfall was threatening him!

Facing Alexander's warning gaze, Ethan sneered, "Is Stellara City under Shadow Syndicate's control now?"

"You'll find out soon enough," Alexander said, giving him a cold look, holding Catherine as they left Healing Touch Hospital.

He reluctantly let go of the soft and fragrant Catherine in his arms. He didn't know what magic she had, but every time he got close, he didn't want to let go! If she weren't so young, he would have wanted to marry her immediately.

Alexander opened the car door and carefully fastened Catherine's seatbelt. "My grandpa called, asking us to pick them up from the hospital. Should we head back to Imperia City now?"

It was time for Marcus and Felix to be discharged. They had been bombarded with calls since early morning.

Catherine didn't answer, so they called Alexander.

"Okay, but this direction doesn't seem like we're heading back to Imperia City," she said.

Alexander smiled warmly. "I'm taking you somewhere. Let them wait a bit longer; it's not urgent."

'After all, Marcus and Felix have been in the hospital for so long. Waiting a bit longer won't be a big deal. I finally have some alone time with Catherine!' Alexander thought.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

"You'll find out soon. Anyway, Charles also asked me to take you out for a bit. No rush to go back."

Charles was worried that there were still Ethan's people lurking in Imperia City and had been dealing with it for the past few days. By the time Ethan realized it, all the Abyssal Blades members in Stellara would probably be captured.

Alexander slowly drove into a rural area. The desolate village and his luxury car were a stark contrast, like an intruder breaking the peace.

The car stopped in front of a yard, and Catherine immediately recognized it as the old Smith family house where she grew up!

A new sign hung at the entrance of the old house: [Cloudscape Villa].

Seeing the car from a distance, Neil ran over to open the door, greeting, "Miss, you're back! Is this your boyfriend? Come on in!"

Catherine was clearly surprised that Alexander had brought her back here.

She noticed that even the road at the entrance had been newly repaired and asked, "Neil, who fixed the road at the entrance?"

Neil proudly puffed out his chest and said, "Of course, it was done according to your instructions, using the money Oliver donated! We bought the best materials, and now the village even has internet access! We have some money left over and we're planning to buy a batch of solar panels for the village."

This village was particularly poor due to its remoteness.

Alexander had a hard time driving the car in.

If the road hadn't been recently repaired, only ox carts and helicopters could have gotten in!

Inside the yard, there was a rocking chair under a maple tree, swaying in the wind.

Neil introduced, "Elodie's family altar is also in the yard, right under the maple tree. Mr. Charles Windsor said to let Elodie continue living here."

Neil wiped his tears as he spoke. He had grown up with Elodie, watching her leave and struggle all her life, only to end up with nothing! It was truly lamentable!

"Elodie was lucky to have such a good granddaughter like you. It's not all in vain! Every action has a retribution, and Oliver is Elodie's retribution! Such an ingrate. Elodie took him in and raised him with great effort, and he treated her like this." Neil spoke with emotion, gritting his teeth.

Catherine was a bit surprised as she wondered, 'Isn't Oliver Elodie's biological son?'

"Neil, what do you mean? Isn't Oliver Elodie's biological son?" she asked.

"These are old stories. Elodie had a child, but that child accidentally died young. So, she adopted an unwanted child, who is Oliver."

Realizing he had said too much, Neil patted his mouth and refused to say more. He waved his hand and left.

Catherine stared at his hunched back, still puzzled, thinking, 'Oliver isn't Elodie's child? How have I not known this all these years! Elodie has never mentioned it either!'

Alexander watched Catherine standing under the maple tree, her dress covered in fallen leaves, like a fairy stepping out of a grand maple leaf rain.

She moved with such elegance and grace, the evening breeze lifting her skirt, making her even more beautiful.

Alexander's breath caught, and he gently brushed the leaves off Catherine's shoulders and hair.

His voice was soft and tender. "Can you show me the place where you grew up?"

"Is that why you brought me here?" she asked.

Alexander held her hand and chuckled softly, gentle and considerate, carefully explaining his actions, "Partly because I want to see where you grew up. And since we're here, we should visit home and let your grandmother know that you're living well now."
