Chapter 196 The Price of Snatching Someone, A Bullet to the Head!
On the fifth floor, Alexander stood with a busted concrete pillar behind him. One wrong move could make him fall!
"Nightfall, you got five minutes to decide if you're joining us!" The Thunderstrike Mercenaries eyed Alexander, each with a smug grin, thinking they had him cornered.
Danielle watched Alexander being cornered at the fifth-floor window, her heart racing.
Alexander's face was unreadable. His handsome features had a fresh scratch, a bloodstain highlighting his sharp, serious gaze, which was cold and deadly.
'Even now, he's so calm, still radiating that kingly aura! If Nightfall joins us, he'll be mine!' Danielle thought.
"Just you guys?" Alexander chuckled, casually taking off his watch and cufflinks, treating them like precious items. He rolled up his sleeves, showing off his muscular arms. His gun was out of bullets, but if they thought he'd join them, they were dreaming!
Danielle was getting anxious. "Nightfall, if you agree, we won't hurt you today! We've blocked the Shadow Syndicate; they can't get here!"
Alexander gave them a contemptuous look, making everyone shiver. "The Thunderstrike Mercenaries are acting recklessly. Doesn't Blade of Dusk care about your lives? Or do Maurice's and Anthony's lives not matter to you?"
The leader, in a coat and puffing on a cigar, said, "As long as you die, Mr. Maurice Hughes and Mr. Anthony Hughes will be safe."
Alexander shook his head, saying regretfully, "I was only planning to deal with Blade of Dusk, but now I think I'll take care of the Hughes Family too."
His gaze was icy, and even alone, he made everyone wary.
"Do it! Kill him!" the leader ordered.
Danielle shouted, "Nightfall, just agree with us! Come back to the border with us, and the Thunderstrike Mercenaries will protect you!"
A cold, indifferent voice came from above the crowd. "What gives the Thunderstrike Mercenaries the right to say such things?"
Danielle looked up, shocked, to see Catherine, who had somehow jumped down from the sixth floor!
Catherine moved swiftly, landing with a slight bounce, and Alexander caught her steadily.
"What are you doing here?" Alexander asked.
Catherine handed him a gun, saying calmly, "I heard your people were blocked, so I came to see if you needed any help."
'She came personally to check on me?' Alexander thought, feeling a surge of untimely joy that made him smile.
Seeing Alexander smile, Danielle was stunned. Realizing it was because of Catherine, she felt a pang of jealousy.
Danielle glared at Catherine. "Since you're here, I won't waste time finding you! Do you think just the two of you can escape from us?"
Catherine looked at her with contempt, as if Danielle was just an insignificant insect. "Escape? That word isn't in my dictionary."
Catherine clapped her hands, and a massive explosion sounded from the building next door, causing it to collapse instantly! "Oops, wrong button. There are bombs in this building too. I meant to press the button next to it!"
"You actually planted bombs here? Aren't you afraid of being discovered?" Danielle asked.
Catherine shrugged indifferently. "You guys dared to dig up the highway, what wouldn't I dare to do?"
Besides, these bombs were planted by Ethan last time at X Bar. Even if discovered, it would be Abyssal Blades' problem, not theirs.
Catherine suddenly aimed her sniper rifle at the Thunderstrike Mercenaries' leader and pulled the trigger! The leader clutched his chest and dropped to the ground before he even knew what hit him.
Catherine then aimed her gun at Danielle. "How did I miss? I should've hit you!"
"Are you nuts? You killed our leader; the Thunderstrike Mercenaries won't let you get away with this!" Danielle shouted.
Catherine laughed. "Which button was for this building's bomb again? What if I press the wrong one?"
Alexander, standing behind her, said, "It's okay. One of them will be right."
The Blade of Dusk leader gritted his teeth. "Kill them! Don't let this woman go crazy!"
If Catherine really planted bombs here, the Thunderstrike Mercenaries were toast!
As soon as the leader finished speaking, a bullet whizzed past Catherine and Alexander, instantly piercing his head!
Catherine looked at the headshot leader without any extra expression. "Sorry, my subordinates are a bit reckless. I'll tell them to be more careful next time and kill a few more."
Danielle's gaze turned cold. "You brought the Faceless Ones members? Damn it! Hurry up. Don't let them get out alive!"
The sound of bullets hitting the ground and a woman falling echoed together. Catherine glanced indifferently at Danielle, who was lying on the ground, still not closing her eyes. "I should have shot you in the head at Ironclad Jail last time. What a pity."
Alexander chuckled. "It's okay. Now is just as good."
'A few years ago in Northern Myanterra, Catherine saved my life the same way. I didn't expect that after all this time, Catherine would still descend from the sky to save me! Being protected by her, I feel at ease,' Alexander thought.
Catherine put away her gun and looked at Alexander beside her. "I'm really going to blow this place up. Aren't you scared?"
"Not scared." Alexander reached out to wipe the dust off Catherine's face, his eyes full of affection. "Whatever you want to do, I'll do it with you!"
"Then how about a jump?" Catherine smiled, grabbed Alexander's hand, and leaped before the Blade of Dusk members could rush up!
The sound of gunfire and the explosion of the building rang out simultaneously, and a building was leveled in an instant!
Alexander's arm wrapped around Catherine's waist, his other hand gripping the rope dropped from a helicopter, and they quickly moved to a safe position.
Catherine looked at the wounds on Alexander's face and body from the explosion, saying, "Sorry, I got you hurt."
Catherine knew this plan would get them injured, but she didn't expect Alexander to hold her tightly during the explosion, not letting any debris scratch her.
Instead, Alexander was covered in wounds, looking particularly frightening. "It's okay, as long as you're fine. I'm happy to protect you."
Alexander bent down to hug Catherine, his lips landing on her slightly cold face, his voice filled with deep fatigue and affection. "Before anything else, I need to sleep for a while. As for my wounds, please take care of them for me. Good night." After saying this, he passed out.
Catherine quickly reached out to catch Alexander, preventing his body from falling.
She remembered that Alexander had been injured before and had been holding on!
Alexander was too tall, and it was inconvenient for Catherine to hold him. Going to the hospital would definitely let Felix know he was injured. So she said, "Let's go to the Galactic Aurora Collective!"
