Chapter 221 The Struggle Between Two Sides, Alexander Benefits

Under the bright streetlights, their shadows intertwined, making it look like they were snuggled up close.

This odd sense of romance, mixed with the voice still echoing in Catherine's ear, made her heart skip a beat.

'Must be because I hit too hard earlier, making my heart race from the effort!' Catherine thought, steadying herself and looking away. She walked briskly towards the car parked nearby. "I need to get to the underground auction."

Alexander followed her naturally, opening the driver's door. "I'll take you. I heard there's some good info tonight; we should still make it in time."

Alexander's wrist was wrapped in bandages. It wasn't a serious injury, but he wasn't in any shape to drive.

As a doctor, Catherine didn't want to see her patient get into trouble right in front of her.

Catherine pressed down on Alexander's hand. "Sit on the side. I'll drive."

"Didn't you say you don't have a driver's license?" he asked.

Catherine had already pushed Alexander into the passenger seat, sat down herself, fastened her seatbelt, and looked straight ahead. "The road to the underground auction is pretty hidden, so it's fine."

The underground auction, tucked away deep in the city, was a gray area; no one cared about the law there!

Plus, the auction was hidden behind the Galactic Aurora Collective's underground fight club, and all the surrounding surveillance was controlled by them.

Stepping on the gas, Catherine drove off!

Alexander looked at Catherine with admiration; she was still so cute even when she was seriously driving!

Half an hour later, at the underground auction.

Catherine opened the car's glove box, took out two masks, and handed one to Alexander.

She reached out to put on her mask, and Alexander naturally took over the straps, his slender fingers quickly tying a knot behind her head.

Alexander carefully checked the mask to make sure Catherine's face wouldn't be exposed before he felt relieved!

"Thanks."

"If you want to thank me, help me with mine too," he said.

Catherine couldn't refuse, so she took Alexander's mask and helped him tie the straps.

Alexander chuckled and took Catherine's hand. "Let's go. I just saw some familiar faces; tonight might be interesting."

"The Howard Family?" Catherine was dressed in a simple yet elegant suit, her demeanor carrying a hint of coldness, exuding an aura of aloofness and unapproachability. Her long hair was tied up with a hairband, revealing her slender neck, her presence as powerful as a queen.

Even with a mask covering her face, people couldn't help but turn to look at her.

Alexander discreetly blocked those prying eyes. "Yeah, they're probably interested in tonight's info too."

It was normal for the Howard Family to frequent the underground auction; tonight's event had been hyped for a long time, and the invitation had been sent to Alexander last month.

But Alexander knew Catherine would definitely come, so instead of attending such a dangerous auction alone, he preferred to stay by her side.

Every time he saw her, Alexander's eyes would follow Catherine, unwilling to look away for even a minute.

The staff, dressed in formal attire, respectfully greeted the two in front of them. Seeing the invitation in their hands and the aura they exuded, the staff knew they were not ordinary people! Anyone who could come to this underground auction was either rich or noble, none of whom they could afford to offend. "Please follow me."

They followed the staff to a cozy private room, and to ensure each guest's privacy, the door even had a curtain.

The staff handed over an electronic screen. "For tonight's auction, if you see anything you like, you can bid directly on the screen. All bids from the rooms will be displayed here, keeping everything private."

Catherine nodded. "Thanks."

After the staff left, the curtain was drawn, and the room was dimly lit.

Alexander took off his mask and set it aside, his slender fingers gently stroking Catherine's hair.

Catherine frowned slightly. "You're messing up my hair."

She had tied her hair up neatly, but Alexander's touch had made it a bit messy, yet he still looked innocent!

Catherine was speechless, wondering how this man could be so childish.

Alexander glanced at her hair. "Let me fix it for you."

He took off her hairband, gently ran his fingers through her smooth hair, and tied it up again.

But the hairband on her head now was clearly not the same one as before.

Alexander looked at his handiwork with satisfaction, his eyes filled with a gentle smile. He thought, 'I've wanted to replace that hairband for a while. I know Catherine is sentimental. Otherwise, she wouldn't keep using the hairband George gave her. Catherine cherishes her family in her own way. But I also hope the hairband she uses can be one made by me!'

Catherine didn't notice the switch. She focused on the electronic screen in front of her. "Looks like the last incident at the auction was too serious, and tonight's info is too important, so they changed the format."

"Are you talking about when someone robbed the auction items outside, causing two gangs to be wiped out?" he asked.

Such news wasn't a secret in their circle.

Robbing auction items was common, but it rarely caused such a big commotion.

Alexander tugged at his tie, sitting more comfortably on the sofa. He placed one hand behind Catherine, looking like he was half-hugging her. "Do you want to know who ended up with that item?"

"You know?" she asked.

"Of course, after all, the info about that auction item was confidential. It wasn't easy for those two gangs to get the news and arrive in time."

Seeing the cold smile on Alexander's lips, Catherine realized. "You leaked the info?"

"It was me. Those gangs were part of the Howard Family; consider it helping me clean house."

The Howard Family was vast, with over a dozen gangs. For Alexander to fully control the family, he had to clean up those elements!

Catherine looked up at Alexander, the small room dimly lit with only a lamp casting a warm glow on his handsome face.

"I guess it's a case of two parties fighting and a third party reaping the benefits," she said, thinking since Alexander asked, the item must have ended up in his hands!

"No wonder you're my fiancée! As a reward, I'll pay for anything you want to buy tonight," Alexander said.

Catherine looked away, thinking, 'Why does Alexander always want to reward me? Is he just too rich, or simply too idle?'
