Chapter 354 Dig a Pit and Bury Franklin

Franklin was completely wrapped up in thoughts about the reboot of the Galactic Aurora Collective plan. It was driving him nuts.

"If it weren't for... stepping down, I wouldn't have been booted from the Galactic Aurora Collective plan. Those folks are just the worst!"

Catherine knew Franklin had been pushed out by the people inside the Collective. With no backing from above and chaos within, Franklin had no choice but to step back.

Venus shot Franklin a dirty look and flipped him off. "You're a real piece of work, you know that?"

If it weren't for Franklin, they wouldn't be stuck as orphans! Just seeing his face made them want to hurl.

Now he was so far gone, he wanted to dig up Elodie's grave to see what was in her head. Gross!

This jerk actually thought Catherine could take on all the Galactic Aurora Collective members because Elodie had some secret weapon? It was all Catherine's doing, taking them down one by one!

Every member of the Galactic Aurora Collective was a genius, tough enough to survive those brutal experiments! Yet Catherine managed to take them down one by one.

Franklin had checked out the current members of the Galactic Aurora Collective. He realized that restarting the Collective was too pricey; it was better to work with the current members!

Allan clenched his jaw. "I was so close to pulling it off, but the Windsor family wouldn't play ball. Otherwise, I could've snagged the grave back then..."

Franklin snapped, "You think Marcus is a fool? I was banking on getting Juniper to work for me, and you all blew it!"

Franklin had always admired Juniper... for her brains! So young and already a rising star in the field of science. If he could have her on his team, he'd use her smarts to the max!

Thinking about his experiments got Franklin all fired up!

"Catherine's got a great mind too, but... she's too much of a rebel! The Windsor family won't cooperate either. Otherwise, those kids would make perfect test subjects..."

Thinking about the Windsor family's kids, Franklin's eyes lit up with a crazy obsession! They were all geniuses, but Marcus was too stubborn to send his kids for experiments. Otherwise, the Galactic Aurora Collective would be unstoppable!

Just as he finished talking, Franklin and his crew suddenly felt the ground give way beneath them! It was like stepping on something soft, and they went tumbling, followed by a chorus of screams.

"Mr. Morales, you okay?"

Franklin opened his eyes to find himself in a pitfall, with everyone sprawled out in a heap.

"Who the heck dug a hole here? Why is there a pit in the middle of nowhere?"

It was a huge pit, not too wide but pretty deep. At least six feet deep, Franklin felt like his bones were shattered!

A light laugh came from above the pit. Catherine crouched at the edge, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at Franklin.

"Well, if it isn't Mr. Morales! Out for a fall hike? Why take the scenic route through Jessa? Quite the adventure!"

Adventure? She called this an adventure? They had clearly fallen into a trap she set!

The moment Franklin saw Catherine, he knew it was all her doing.

"Unbelievable! Get us out of here!"

Catherine chuckled.

"Sure thing, but I'll have to report you for trespassing in a private cemetery. This mountain happens to be mine."

To make sure Elodie could rest peacefully, Catherine had bought up all the unclaimed land around the Windsor family cemetery.

Franklin clenched his jaw. He had no choice but to play along with Catherine's game.

"We were just... hiking, got lost, no funny business. Please, let us out."

"Hiking, huh? Well, enjoy your time in the pit; it's a one-of-a-kind experience."

Catherine stood up, brushing off her hands. Her gaze was icy; her expression was calm.

"Mr. Morales, just so you know, if you mess with my grandma, wherever she feels discomfort, you'll feel it too!"

Realizing Catherine had overheard everything, Franklin's face fell.

"You sure you wanna make an enemy out of me? I can hand you the Galactic Aurora Collective, or I can take it all away!"

"Empty threats," Catherine shot back. "Since Mr. Morales is so unwilling to admit defeat, why don't you climb out on your own? Oh, and I left some critters in the pit for you. Enjoy your hike."

Seeing the look on Catherine's face, Franklin suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. Turning his head, he saw several snakes hissing at them! With triangular heads and bright colors, they were clearly venomous. Catherine not only dug a pit but also used these deadly snakes to mess with them...

Ignoring whether Franklin would regret it, Catherine turned and walked away. Brad followed her.

"Those snakes look scary, but Franklin might still get out. What if he goes after Elodie again?"

Brad knew how much Catherine cared about Elodie.

"Grandma was cremated. What could Franklin possibly learn from taking her ashes?"

"Then why didn't you say that earlier?"

From Catherine's reaction, Brad thought Elodie was buried!

Catherine replied casually, "If I didn't lead him on, how would Franklin make a move again? If he doesn't act, how can I find a chance to strike back?"

Brad finally realized Catherine was setting Franklin up!

A scream echoed from not far ahead!

"Help! Arabella, you're insane! Help!"

"You're committing murder!"

Catherine gave Brad a look. "Go check it out."

"Is Arabella a common name? Why does everyone seem to have it?"

"Are you dense? Mrs. Howard's nursing home is nearby, so of course, they're calling for Mrs. Howard!"

It's not like they're on a busy street; what are the odds of running into someone with the same name?

"True enough!"

Brad rubbed his bald head as he followed Catherine toward the source of the noise. The constant screaming sounded familiar.

Catherine commented, "Lila sure has a strong voice; she doesn't sound like someone on the brink of death."

The one wailing was none other than Lila. Under the blazing sun, Arabella lounged lazily in a rocking chair, cooling off. Lila was left out in the sun, tied up and unable to move! The autumn sun was still harsh, and the sunlight outside the shade felt scorching. Lila felt like her face was burning!

"Arabella, let me go! If you kill me, I'll haunt you forever!"

Arabella fanned herself gracefully. "You should worry about how many ghosts won't let you rest in peace! Plenty of them are waiting for you in hell."

Lila, superstitious all her life, turned pale at those words!
