Chapter 299 Alexander's Intentions, Catherine's Moved

Alexander's voice carried an indescribable gentleness. "Being Alioth is tough, but being my girlfriend, you can be free."

"How do you know?" Catherine pulled away from Alexander's embrace and looked up at him.

"I'm not an idiot."

Besides, once he found a clue, there was nothing the Howard Group couldn't uncover!

When Catherine reported Eddy's academic misconduct on a research forum under the name Alioth, Alexander had guessed it was her.

How many leaders could the Galactic Aurora Collective have?

Alexander had investigated all of Alioth's activities; he knew far more about her past than she imagined.

From the moment he knew Catherine held a significant position in the Galactic Aurora Collective, Alexander had delved deep, wanting to understand her in his own way!

Alexander extended his hand, palm open towards Catherine. "To reward your hard work, this is my gift."

"A gift?" Catherine's gaze fell on Alexander's palm, watching as he slowly opened his hand.

In his hand was a USB drive, crafted in the shape of a maple leaf sculpture!

"Where did you get this?"

Alexander chuckled softly, "I guessed you needed it."

Catherine indeed needed this jade-carved USB drive, but she was more surprised at how Alexander knew she would need it!

"I investigated the past traces of the Galactic Aurora Collective and visited the abandoned lab. By chance, I learned some interesting things."

'Isn't this USB drive supposed to be in Franklin's hands?' She thought.

Catherine was a bit shocked and looked at Alexander, "Where did you get it?"

"Franklin auctioned off this sculpture a while ago, and I got it by chance," Alexander spoke nonchalantly, but Catherine didn't believe it was that simple or coincidental.

Her hand moved along Alexander's shirt cuff, unbuttoning it, revealing his arm wrapped in numerous bandages, exuding a strong smell of external medicine. "You're injured?"

"In this line of work, getting hurt is normal."

Getting hurt might be normal for an assassin, but for someone of Alexander's caliber to be this seriously injured was clearly abnormal!

Catherine knew Alexander's skills well. The renowned Nightfall on the assassin list wouldn't make such a rookie mistake. The wounds on his arm were clearly from unexpected attacks!

"Tell me, what really happened?" Catherine said.

"Accept my gift, and I'll tell you." Alexander didn't stop Catherine from examining his arm but insisted she accept the gift he brought!

Taking the USB drive from his hand, it was warm from Alexander's touch.

"I accept it."

"You should know, I went to the border and had a couple of drinks with Timothy."

Timothy was a heavy drinker, confident he could drink anyone under the table. When Alexander showed up wanting to drink, Timothy agreed without hesitation, boasting he would outdrink Alexander!

The result was Timothy waking up the next day to find Alexander already gone.

Timothy himself couldn't remember what he had said while drunk!

Alexander explained, "Timothy's weakness is that he'll say anything when drunk, but on the border, no one but me can get him drunk."

"I asked about your grandmother and learned this USB drive is very important to you."

Whether it was because the USB drive was something Catherine's grandmother left behind or its contents, it was important to Catherine!

"Franklin did auction off this sculpture, but it was at the Nebula State auction."

Nebula State, located on the Stellara border, was a true no-man's land, bordering several small countries. The long border and strait hid countless crimes and bloodshed!

The Nebula State auction was more of a free-for-all where the organizers sold items, and anyone could fight over them, with chaos and disorder breeding profit!

"You went to the Nebula State auction?" Catherine asked.

"Yes, I arrived just as the sculpture was being auctioned. The other party's demand wasn't money, which was quite a bargain."

Those who sold items at the Nebula State auction weren't short of money or connections; they were usually maniacs!

"What was their demand?" Catherine added.

"Not too bad, just a trip to the Nebula State underground fight club, a gauntlet match."

Catherine suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with undisguised shock and concern. No wonder Alexander needed strong perfume to cover the smell of medicine!

He couldn't possibly think he could fool a doctor's nose, could he?

"Why did you do it? You knew it was dangerous."

It wasn't too difficult for Alexander to walk out of the Nebula State underground fight club, but the problem was he still had unhealed wounds!

Going to the underground fight club for a gauntlet match, facing countless desperate fighters, it was no wonder he got injured.

"I only knew you needed it. Maybe Franklin wanted to lure you there, so it didn't matter who went."

If he hadn't gone, Catherine would have!

Knowing it would be dangerous, Alexander couldn't bear to let Catherine face such danger.

Alexander reached out and touched Catherine's hair, his deep voice tinged with a bit of laughter. "As long as you need it, what I did wasn't in vain."

Catherine gripped the sculpture tightly, pulling Alexander by the wrist out of the stairwell, heading straight for George's office. She pushed him into a chair.

"Take off your clothes," Catherine said calmly.

The door creaked open, and several heads peeked in, asking in unison, "Catherine, are you okay?"

Inside the office, Catherine was bending over, pulling at Alexander's collar, looking serious and domineering.

She was still ordering him to take off his clothes!

Philip quickly closed the door, patting his chest. "I didn't expect Catherine and Mr. Howard, Catherine is always the more assertive one!"

The scene was so intense that Philip's eyelids were twitching.

Charles said, "Maybe we saw it wrong."

Juniper retorted, "Charles, don't deceive yourself."

George said, "I need to get something from inside. Should I disappear for a while?"

Catherine opened the office door, and the three Windsor sons stared at her with wide eyes!

Their expressions made it clear they were overthinking. Catherine looked at George, "George, do you have any surgeries? If not, come in. I could use some help."

George's head buzzed!

Following Catherine into the office, he saw Alexander's strong upper body wrapped in bandages, many of which were bloodstained. He realized Catherine wanted to change Alexander's dressings!

"Mr. Howard, what happened?" George said, reaching out to examine Alexander, but Catherine stopped him. "George, hand me the supplies."

"Catherine, let me do it. Mr. Howard's wounds look deep."

Even though they were engaged, Alexander and Catherine weren't married yet. Letting Catherine change the dressings of a shirtless man, George was firmly against it.

Catherine didn't back down, her long eyelashes fluttering slightly, but her hands were steady. "George, he doesn't like being touched by others. I'll do it."
