Chapter 356 Alexander's Passionate Confession
"When I miss your grandma, I just look at your picture and feel like I could live another twenty years!"
Catherine replied calmly, "Timothy, you're off base."
"What?"
It was the first time Catherine had ever called him by his first name, and it caught Timothy off guard.
Catherine went on, "Twenty years? That's not enough. Let's tack on a few more. I sent you some meds; with me around, you might just hit a hundred."
Catherine wasn't just the leader of the Faceless Ones; she was also the legendary Phantom Doctor Moon, renowned for pulling people back from the brink of death.
Timothy knew this all too well. Her words made his eyes misty.
"I'll do whatever you say... Oh, Catherine, check this out!"
Timothy turned his phone camera, as if showing off a prized possession, zooming in on Oliver's family feeding sharks outside.
Oliver's family was holding chunks of raw, bloody meat. If they hesitated even a second, the sharks would snap their jaws at them.
Oliver was so freaked out that he almost shoved Celeste into the water.
"You guys are nuts! Isn't there any law here? You'll pay for treating me like this..."
Timothy smirked.
"You know Marcus, right? Marcus won't let you get away with this!"
Oliver was talking fast, mostly out of fear.
Every day here felt like a nightmare, and he was about to lose it.
Timothy took a drag from his cigarette.
"Been here this long and still yapping? Go yank his tongue out and feed it to the fish."
"Yes, Mr. Wallace!"
Oliver screamed and passed out cold.
Timothy explained, "Oliver saw me looking at Elodie's picture when he got here and tried to suck up to me."
Catherine was quiet for a moment. That was totally something Oliver would do.
"Handle it however you want, but don't bring this up in front of Grandma."
Catherine mentioned running into Franklin on the mountain.
"Timothy, who backed Franklin when he started the Galactic Aurora Collective plan back then?"
"Ask your grandpa! His old rival, nothing to do with me!"
Timothy wasn't about to discuss it.
"I'm gonna deal with this family first. Just thinking about how they treated Elodie ticks me off! And they have the nerve to use her last name?"
"Alright, Catherine! I gotta finish up in the kitchen!"
Catherine was surprised Timothy had taken up cooking at Ironclad Jail.
As the video call abruptly ended, Catherine knew she wouldn't get any answers from Timothy.
On the tombstone, Elodie smiled gently, her expression peaceful and loving.
Brad clasped his hands together. "Catherine, I'll go get ready. Everyone's got their own path; do what you gotta do."
"Speak in a way I can understand."
"You're kinda in the way here, so hurry up and scram."
Elodie's prayer platform was set up, and Brad needed to lead his church in prayer there.
Catherine glanced at him, ready to leave, but Brad spoke again, more seriously.
"Also, I need to reassess the Windsor family's situation to make sure Mrs. Windsor is happy in heaven."
Catherine rolled up her sleeves, cracking her knuckles.
Brad quickly changed his tone.
"I mean, I need everyone's birth dates from your family, down to the exact time."
Catherine replied with a straight face, "I'll send them to you. But next time, if you can't remember to speak in a way I get, I won't mind giving you a little sparring session."
Even though Brad was pretty good at martial arts, he was no match for Catherine, who could walk out of underground fight clubs without a scratch.
Catherine didn't care who she was up against; she aimed for the vital spots, using just enough force to take down her opponent quickly.
Remembering the time he sparred with Catherine and ended up in tears, Brad shivered.
Catherine turned and walked away.
Brad got the birth dates she sent, sat cross-legged on the ground, and studied them one by one. After a while, he finally focused on the last piece of information. Brad enlarged the numbers, looked at them several times, then set his phone down.
With a bit of calculation, he could figure out where their paths crossed.
Brad had asked for these dates to solve a mystery for himself.
He wanted to know why every time he saw Juniper, his heart raced.
Brad touched his forehead, muttering to himself, "No wonder, we are indeed connected."
But it was only a connection, destined to be nothing more.
Leaving the cemetery, Catherine looked up to see a young man standing not far away.
The cemetery was filled with osmanthus trees, their fragrance intoxicatingly strong across the mountain.
A section was planted with yellow and white chrysanthemums, and a man in a black suit walked toward Catherine, surrounded by the blooms.
Alexander's gaze was locked on Catherine from the start, with no intention of looking away.
"Why are you here so early?"
"I wanted to come see Grandma."
Alexander reached out to remove a leaf from Catherine's hair, his fingers trailing down her strands like fine silk.
"Did you go up the mountain?"
Catherine's dress was dusty, with some burrs that only grew on wild hills.
Alexander crouched to pick off the burrs, his gaze falling on Catherine's calf, brushing it with his fingertips.
"Cold? You shouldn't wear a dress up the mountain."
It tickled a bit.
Catherine stepped back slightly, feeling a bit uneasy.
"Not cold. I heard someone calling for help and went to check."
Seeing her small movement, Alexander knew Catherine was feeling shy.
He chuckled softly, tossing the burrs aside.
"I'm jealous of these little things that cling to you. If I could, I'd stick to you like that."
"...You have a lot of work."
"Not important. Someone else can handle the company."
If he had the chance, he'd rather be by Catherine's side all the time.
Alexander stood up beside Catherine, holding her hand as they walked through the cemetery.
"When you've done everything you want, we'll find a place to settle down."
He knew she had many things she wanted to accomplish.
Catherine's heart stirred slightly.
They both seemed to long for a simple, everyday life, tired of living on the edge.
"Alexander, are you... planning to spend your life with me?"
Alexander tightened his grip on Catherine's hand.
"This is in front of your whole Windsor family; if I lie, I'll be damned!"
"Catherine, I want to spend my life with you. I want my future to be with you. I love you!"
