Chapter 182 Owen Recognizes Juniper
The manor gate creaked open, and out stepped a woman in a classy long dress, holding an umbrella. She had this calm, gentle look on her face. "Catherine, since you're here, why don't you come in with this young lady?"
Catherine nodded at Paloma, holding Juniper's hand. "Paloma, this is my sister, Juniper."
Paloma wasn't in the best health and rarely left the Harrison Estate. This was the first time she'd seen Juniper.
Her eyes landed on Juniper, taking in the young girl's graceful stance. For some reason, Juniper looked familiar to her.
Paloma smiled. "I've heard the Windsor Family has a brilliant daughter who became a researcher at a young age. That's really impressive. Come in and have a seat. It's usually pretty empty around here, and we don't get many visitors."
Except for Owen's birthday, the estate was usually quiet and deserted.
Catherine led Juniper inside. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. I'm just happy to have company." Paloma guided them through the garden to the guest room and invited them to sit down.
Paloma's smile was gentle, her eyes sparkling, and the fine wrinkles at the corners of her eyes added a touch of age. "What do you like to eat? I'll have someone bring some afternoon tea."
Juniper stared at her face, somewhat entranced. She resembled Aurora a bit, probably because they both came from scholarly families and had a gentle and refined demeanor.
Catherine looked at Paloma. "Thank you, Juniper likes strawberry cake."
"I also like strawberry cake. I'll get some right away." As Paloma left, Juniper moved her chair closer to Catherine. "Catherine, do you think she could be my mother?"
"I looked into it on the way here. The Harrison Family only has one daughter," Catherine said.
Owen had only one son and one daughter. The son was a diplomat and was rarely in Imperia City.
Catherine glanced at Juniper. "And she does look a bit like you."
As Catherine saw Paloma, she felt she looked familiar. From her appearance to her demeanor, she was unforgettable yet familiar. Paloma and Juniper looked remarkably alike!
However, Juniper, raised by the Windsor Family, had a much more lively personality than Paloma.
Juniper calmly said, "Without a DNA test, there's no data to support the conclusion. Let's wait and see."
Years of experiments had made her brain only recognize data; emotions were insignificant compared to data.
Coughing and the sound of a wheelchair came from behind them, and Owen quickly approached them in his electric wheelchair.
Juniper was puzzled.
Paloma, carrying the afternoon tea, scolded, "Dad! How many times have I told you not to go so fast at home! Haven't you seen how many elderly people end up in the hospital from driving electric wheelchairs too fast?"
Owen waved his hand. "I'm old enough not to go racing. Besides, Catherine is here! I'm happy!"
"You know you're old, yet you still act like a child, making me worry." Paloma said.
Owen covered his ears, pretending not to listen, and maneuvered his wheelchair next to Catherine. "And this is?"
His gaze fell on Juniper and suddenly froze! Juniper met Owen's shocked gaze head-on and said confidently, "Hey, Mr. Harrison. I'm Juniper Windsor, the adopted daughter of the Windsor Family."
As Paloma set the cake on the table, she smiled and added, "Dad, don't underestimate Juniper. She's a researcher. I remember reading her papers. She's a very thoughtful kid!"
Owen's eyes flickered with thought. 'The adopted daughter of the Windsor Family? And so smart, able to conduct experiments. The key is her face, which looks exactly like Paloma's when she was young, except Juniper is more confident and straightforward, with her short hair adding a touch of boldness.'
"Were you raised by Marcus? Have you found your biological parents?" Owen's voice trembled as he clenched his fists on his knees, waiting for Juniper's answer.
Juniper grinned. "I just found out. They said my dad is my boss. I haven't even processed it yet! My mom passed away."
Owen gripped the wheelchair's edges tightly, his voice shaking with excitement. "Which lab are you in? Which lab number? Is your boss named Howard?"
"How do you know? I'm with Phoenix Lab in Lab 3, under Evander Howard, but probably not for long," Juniper replied.
'Evander!' Owen released his grip and sat back. "Why not for long?"
"I'm being transferred back to a lab in Imperia City, so it'll be easier to go home," Juniper said.
Owen nodded and sighed heavily.
Paloma, noticing Owen's reaction, asked in surprise, "Dad, what's wrong? Do you know Evander Howard?"
"Nothing, Paloma. Go get the photo album from my room. I want to show them my younger days," Owen said.
Paloma sighed. "You always want to show off when guests come. Alright, I'll get it."
As she left, Owen's gaze returned to Juniper. "My request might be a bit intrusive, but this is very important to me. Juniper, could you tell me about your life?"
"Sure."
Catherine took a sip of her coffee, quietly staying by Juniper's side.
Juniper spoke calmly about her childhood, though her hands trembled slightly, thankfully still holding Catherine's hand! Having Catherine with her was such a blessing!
Juniper talked about her smooth academic and life journey, and Owen nodded quietly.
When she mentioned being punished by Marcus for breaking a few antique vases, Owen silently cursed Marcus for treating a young girl so harshly, thinking Juniper only broke a few antique vases, which weren't even valuable!
Hearing Juniper say her brothers treated her well, Owen instinctively added, "I also have two grandsons, who would be your brothers."
Seeing Juniper's puzzled look, Owen realized he had slipped and quickly said, "Continue."
Juniper talked about Brandon and Aurora, and Owen sighed softly. "They are good parents, better than your biological ones."
Paloma returned with Owen's photo album, smiling. "Dad, what are you talking about?"
"Nothing, let me show you how handsome I was when I was young!"
Paloma smiled and opened the album, showing Catherine and Juniper picture by picture.
One photo was of a young Paloma.
This photo was different from the one in Evander's pocket watch. In this one, Paloma wore a white dress on a yacht, her hair up high, looking like she had short hair.
"This photo, why does it look so much like Juniper?" Paloma asked.
