Chapter 222 The Boss of the Galactic Aurora Collective Is Unyielding
The auction kicked off soon enough.
They started with some small, unimportant items to get the crowd warmed up.
Catherine watched the stage with a cold look and said, "I bet your last injury has something to do with the Howard Family."
Only the Howard Family could manipulate what Alexander cared about and use his mom's stuff to lure him to the Heritage Storage Depot. And they were the only ones who wanted him in trouble and out of power.
"Yeah, so I made sure those bastards and their families all paid the price." Alexander's eyes had a soft look, but his words were ice-cold. "Since Emilia's mom was friends with my mom, and those people dug up a grave to lure me, I sent their whole family to join them in the grave since they liked it so much."
Catherine nodded without any emotion. "Very kind of you."
This was right up her alley!
"Too bad I haven't found the key evidence that they hurt my mom all these years."
Catherine raised an eyebrow. "It's a shame, but you don't need evidence."
Someone like Alexander didn't need evidence to go after someone. He just didn't think those people were the real masterminds and wanted to find who really killed his mom!
In other words, the few Howard Family members still hanging on weren't because they were strong, but because Alexander needed them to find the real culprit.
Alexander, the current head of the Howard Family, with his ruthless ways, was no longer the kid who hid in a cabinet, drowning in despair!
The host on stage smiled at the quiet crowd. "This auction item is a piece of nephrite. As you all know, the nephrite market's been hot lately, and this piece is top-notch!"
The guests, who had been bored before, perked up. Many had come just for the nephrite.
A fist-sized piece of nephrite was placed on stage, flawless and glowing under the auction lights, making everyone feel refreshed just looking at it. It was clearly a top-grade piece!
"Let's not waste any time; you all know its value. The starting bid is three million dollars!" the host announced.
Catherine wasn't interested in the item but was curious about who brought it.
Alexander said softly, "Something from the Galactic Aurora Collective?"
"Yeah, but it was sold a long time ago. Even if it came from the Galactic Aurora Collective, it has nothing to do with them now," Catherine replied.
Even back then, a piece of nephrite this good wouldn't have been cheap.
Catherine glanced at the nephrite on stage and pulled out her phone to look up some info. Everything sold by the Galactic Aurora Collective was recorded. Jade was unique, and no two pieces of nephrite were exactly the same.
She frowned at the info on her screen. "Why is the buyer him?"
Alexander looked at the info on Catherine's phone: [Tiberius Harrison from Imperia City.]
"Did he buy it and now he's selling it?" he asked.
Catherine nodded. "Yep, and I recently heard some interesting news. The recent spike in nephrite prices was pushed by Tiberius."
In the antique world, hyping up an item before selling it was pretty standard. But if Tiberius went to such lengths just to sell this piece of nephrite, something didn't add up!
A new message popped up on Catherine's phone.
Dubhe: [Miss, those violins were sold from the Harrison Family's antique market. Gabriel is a regular at the antique market. His communication records show he contacted Tiberius many times last month.]
Catherine frowned slightly. "I remember the nephrite prices suddenly spiked last month."
That month, the Galactic Aurora Collective sold a lot of nephrite for a good price.
"Do you think Tiberius is deliberately inflating the nephrite prices to make more profit?" Alexander asked.
Catherine nodded. "The Harrison Family wouldn't dare openly sell inferior products. The quality of the nephrite at the music store is too poor. If it came from Tiberius's antique market, Owen would definitely notice."
But if they were in cahoots with someone else, it would be a different story! For someone like Gabriel, as long as there was money, it was all good. Tiberius wouldn't take the risk and could make more money, so it was a win-win.
The nephrite on stage was quickly auctioned off for a whopping ten million dollars. This price was way above its actual value.
Catherine got a new message on her phone.
Dubhe: [Miss, Tiberius wants to buy more nephrite from us. Should we sell it to him?]
Catherine quickly replied: [No.]
Dubhe: [But Tiberius said he has some information we might be interested in.]
Dubhe: [It seems he wants to use that information to ask for a discount.]
Dubhe felt baffled while sending these messages, wondering, 'What is Tiberius thinking? The Galactic Aurora Collective never gives discounts!'
Catherine: [Ask him what information he has.]
Dubhe: [He said he wants to discuss it in person. The information is too important to say over the phone.]
Catherine: [Then block him. The Galactic Aurora Collective will no longer do business with Tiberius.]
Dubhe chuckled at the message, thinking, 'Does Tiberius think he can manipulate Catherine with such tactics? What is he thinking?'
Receiving Dubhe's message, Tiberius wasn't surprised. He smiled, his face calm, not showing any frustration over the situation.
Tiberius: [I was just joking. I just wanted to make friends with the Galactic Aurora Collective's boss. After all, I was friends with your previous boss.]
Dubhe didn't respond and relayed the message to Catherine.
Dubhe: [Miss, he says he knows our previous boss? I don't even know him!]
Catherine frowned even more, wondering what Tiberius meant.
Catherine: [If they're old friends, let him work with the previous boss. I won't cooperate with him.]
Tiberius's expression faltered as he received the message, thinking, 'Why is the current Galactic Aurora Collective's boss so unyielding? It seems I need a new plan to find out who is in charge of the Galactic Aurora Collective now. I thought that by inflating the nephrite prices, I would surely attract the Galactic Aurora Collective's attention. But now it seems they aren't interested in me at all?'
Tiberius frowned slightly. "Where did I go wrong? Is my plan flawed?"
'I did all this to at least get the Galactic Aurora Collective's current boss to notice me, right?' Tiberius thought.
Catherine placed her phone on the table.
"What do you think of Tiberius?" Alexander asked.
"Not much, probably not very smart, maybe even quite ill," she replied.
