Chapter 120 Bethany Is Not Biological

Samuel got all fired up. "You think you're the only one with cash? Catherine, if you beat me, I'll throw in a new company too!"

Catherine just sighed, looking at Samuel and Marcus. This kind of competition was fun, but totally unnecessary.

Half an hour later, Samuel was a mess. "Catherine, who taught you chess? I can't counter any of your moves!"

Marcus smirked, "Even Brady can't beat Catherine, and you think you can laugh at me? Seriously?"

Samuel used to be a chess whiz, but he couldn't last half an hour against Catherine!

"Feeling embarrassed yet?" Marcus teased.

"Get outta here. Catherine's skills come from the Martinez genes, not you," Samuel shot back.

Marcus wasn't having it, slamming his teacup down and starting another argument. "What do you mean? Catherine's a Windsor, through and through!"

"Are you trying to joke about Lila's genes? Brandon, I'm not saying you're dumb, but Lila's not exactly a genius," Samuel said.

Brandon wiped the sweat off his face, thinking this was just a roundabout way of calling him stupid.

Samuel shrugged. "But it's cool, you're not Lila's real kid anyway. You don't look like her, which is a good thing."

Everyone was stunned! 'What did he mean Brandon isn't Lila's biological son?'

Brandon was just as confused. "What do you mean, Samuel? If I'm not Lila's kid, then who's my real mom?"

Samuel realized he messed up and laughed it off. "I'm just talking nonsense. You can't be my kid, right? Grace and I couldn't have a kid that looks like you."

Brandon stayed quiet, thinking, 'Great, still calling me ugly. Samuel and Grace are good-looking, and I did fall for Aurora at first sight.'

Marcus frowned at Samuel, fiddling with a chess piece, sensing there was more to Samuel's words. "Are you and Felix hiding something from me?"

"You think you're so important that we have to tell you everything?" Samuel wasn't having it and pulled Catherine to play chess. "Come on, Catherine, let's play. I've got a new book idea! It starts with chess!"

'I know exactly how to write it. Once my new book is out, everyone will see how amazing my granddaughter is! This is the romance of a writer, hiding all emotions in the pen. Everyone who reads it will know I have the perfect granddaughter!' Samuel thought.

"Do you know something and not tell Marcus?" Catherine asked.

"I don't know anything, and even if I did, I wouldn't say," Samuel glanced at Marcus, who was scratching his head, just to mess with him.

Serenitia City, The Smith Villa.

Oliver dragged his injured self back to The Smith Villa and collapsed on the sofa, completely wiped out!

Celeste, Declan, and Anouk followed him, not looking much better.

"Oliver, get in touch with Catherine. Brent said she was at the old Smith family house a few days ago, probably paying respects to Elodie," Celeste said.

Oliver perked up right away. He grabbed Declan's and Anouk's phones to call Catherine, planning to use Elodie as leverage to get her back to Serenitia City. Once she was there, they could do whatever they wanted.

Catherine casually answered the phone, and as soon as she heard Oliver's voice, she blocked him.

Oliver barely got out a "Catherine" before he heard the busy tone. He was livid!

Declan and Anouk weren't ready to give up. "I heard Catherine left by helicopter. Did she meet some rich person? Oliver, are Catherine's real parents really poor?"

'Catherine's real parents are raising chickens in Tranquil County, right? That’s what I thought,' Oliver was unsure, so he sat up and dialed a number. "Hey, it's Oliver. You used to live in Tranquil County, right? My relative's kid wants to visit. How's it there?"

The person on the other end laughed and hiccuped. "The whole county moved out. The government took over for some experiments, and we got a lot of compensation!"

Oliver was stunned. 'The whole county moved out? Does that mean Catherine's real parents are now rich from the government's land compensation? I've sold so many properties to get out of jail, and now I need money! If I can find Catherine's real parents, I can at least get some compensation for raising her, right?'

"How much did you get?" Oliver asked.

"Not much, our family got ten million dollars. The richest family got fifty million dollars."

Hearing fifty million dollars, Oliver got excited! But he had no idea what Catherine's real parents' names were. Otherwise, he could find out how much they got.

Hanging up the phone, Oliver touched the bruises on his face and squinted. "I support Catherine and Brent's marriage, but we can't reach Catherine. It's so hard to help create a good marriage."

Declan and Anouk decided to stay at The Smith Villa.

"Catherine is the daughter you raised. If she doesn't answer your calls, find a way. If it doesn't work, report her missing to the police. Won't they help?" Declan said.

"Where's Clara? Have her come and massage my legs. I'm in so much pain!" Anouk said.

Looking at the old and demanding Declan and Anouk, Oliver felt a headache.

'I have to find Catherine!' Oliver thought and gritted his teeth, dialing Lila's number. "I'm Catherine's adoptive father. I don't know what's wrong with her lately; she won't see me. Her grandparents miss her so much. Can you help us meet Catherine and see if she wants to come home?"

Having her own pile of problems, Lila didn't want to deal with Oliver, but when she heard he wanted Catherine back at the Smith family, she got interested.

'Marcus wants a divorce, probably because Catherine said something wrong. Otherwise, why divorce now? If I can get rid of Catherine, I can still stay in the Windsor family!' she thought.

"You really want Catherine to come home?" Lila asked.

"Yes! Absolutely!"

Lila pondered for a moment and said, "Alright, wait for my news."

Oliver hung up the phone and thought, 'With Lila's help, Catherine will definitely come back. Once she is back, I can do whatever I want!'

Lila sent a text to Catherine's phone: [I can agree to the divorce. Come get the divorce papers!]
