Chapter 22 My Sister Is Simply a Genius!
Esme totally crashed the Windsor family's dinner, no shame at all.
I mean, she was Lila's adopted kid. As long as she wasn't causing a scene, they mostly just pretended she wasn't there.
After dinner, Brandon got the four boys together to talk about Catherine's birthday bash.
Charles was like, "Our place is kinda small, and Catherine's party might feel cramped. How about we just buy a new house? I saw this sick place in Starry Residence, 10,000 square feet, only a billion bucks. We can put it in Catherine's name."
Brandon nodded, "Starry Residence is barely okay. The luxury homes in Imperia City are getting lamer every year. Next year, we should snag a castle for Catherine in Istalia. Your grandparents aren't doing great health-wise, can't travel abroad."
Catherine just sat there, not saying a word.
George chimed in, "Let's deck out the venue with fresh flowers flown in. Catherine loves roses, so let's make her a rose crown with pink diamonds for her birthday."
Catherine still said nothing.
Richard jumped in, "Let's invite all the media, get helicopters and drones to live-stream the whole thing, and show the world that this is the Windsor family's princess! We'll also have a fireworks show, and I've got the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on board. Quinn's agreed to design a custom dress for Catherine!"
Catherine kept her mouth shut. 'Is this the guy who wants to spend three hundred million for a dress?'
Philip added, "I've got top chefs from around the world lined up for the banquet. The ingredients will be flown in on the day, so Catherine can have the freshest food from all over the globe on her birthday, no onions or ginger."
Catherine was still silent. 'Isn't this a bit over the top for just a birthday?'
Just as Catherine was about to say no, Juniper grabbed her hand.
"This year is a bit rushed, Catherine. I know you never celebrated your birthday with the Smith family before. It's okay, we'll make it up to you with the best of everything in the world."
Aurora was almost in tears. 'Even with all this, I feel it's too rushed and couldn't give Catherine the best experience. And Catherine has never celebrated her birthday before!'
"Sweetheart, we're so sorry. Why didn't you tell us you had such a rough time before?"
Aurora, with her typically elegant and delicate beauty, looked even more heart-wrenching when she cried.
The brothers scrambled to comfort her, all flustered.
Juniper patted her own mouth and said, "My bad for saying the wrong thing and making Aurora sad. My bad!"
Catherine held Aurora's hand, wiping her tears.
"I've been doing fine, no complaints."
Aurora knew Catherine was just trying to comfort her, feeling both heartbroken and touched.
Juniper knew that once Aurora started crying, she'd get a headache, so she quickly changed the subject.
"I'll handle the fireworks show at the party. Our lab recently developed a non-toxic, odorless firework with some really cool effects. Catherine will love it!" Juniper said.
Most of the stuff from Juniper's lab went straight to the government.
If she said something was good, it was something money couldn't buy!
"I'll go grab my computer to write a report and show you the model!" Juniper added.
All her experiments were super important and needed to be taken seriously.
The data was crucial. Even a tiny mistake could cause big problems.
As soon as she opened her computer in the study, Juniper frowned!
'My data is totally off!'
"Who just went into my study?"
Aurora looked up at Juniper, who was holding her computer with a serious expression, "What's wrong? Catherine and I went in for a bit to change the flowers in your study."
Juniper frowned and said, "Someone messed with my computer data."
'My computer data can't afford any mistakes!' Juniper thought.
Esme, green with envy hearing about Catherine's birthday plans, said,
"Everyone knows not to touch Juniper's computer, except Catherine. It was probably Catherine who accidentally touched it. Catherine, don't be scared. It must have been an accident, and everyone will forgive you!"
Catherine was speechless. 'Why the heck would I mess with Juniper's computer?'
"It wasn't me."
Esme kept pushing, "Catherine, you shouldn't deny it. Juniper's data is super important, and even a tiny change can cause big problems. Even if it was an accident, you should own up to it."
Catherine frowned and repeated, "It wasn't me."
Aurora nodded, "We really didn't touch your computer. I can vouch for that."
Esme rolled her eyes, "Aurora, you can't just cover for Catherine because she just came home. It's not good for her growth. Lila always taught me to be honest and trustworthy. How can you do this?"
Aurora was stuck in a tough spot. 'I do remember that Catherine didn't touch Juniper's computer, but the data on the computer couldn't have changed by itself, right?'
Esme smirked. 'Juniper values that data more than anything. If Catherine messed with it, Juniper would definitely go all out against her! Once they started fighting, I'd be the only daughter left in the Windsor family! Then, whether it's birthday parties or the Howard family engagement, it would all be mine!'
Juniper said, "I believe Catherine. If she says it wasn't her, then it wasn't. But you, Esme. I remember you were in my study for a while before dinner. Did you touch my computer?"
Esme looked panicked, "No, it wasn't me. I know not to touch your computer. How could it be me? The only one who doesn't know this in the house is Catherine, so..."
Juniper's face turned cold, her eyes glinting with a chilling light.
Despite her young age, Juniper held a high position and exuded an intimidating authority that made her subordinates fear her. Just one look made Esme tremble and break out in goosebumps!
"I have surveillance in my study. We'll know once we check."
Esme was shocked. 'Is Juniper nuts?! Installing surveillance in her study—how much does she distrust this family?'
Catherine's calm voice sounded, "Juniper, do you need my help? Can I take a look at your data?"
Esme was extremely disdainful.
'I couldn't understand Juniper's complicated data, and Catherine thinks she could?'
"Catherine, you won't understand Juniper's data," Esme said, thinking, 'Juniper never let anyone see her data!'
Juniper hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Okay."
'This is the first request Catherine has made of me, and I couldn't bear to refuse!' Juniper thought. 'Besides, Catherine probably wouldn't understand the data anyway, so it wouldn't be a violation to let her see it.'
Taking the computer, Catherine quickly scanned the complex data seriously.
She selected a piece of data, turning to Juniper and asked, "Juniper, is this the data that's problematic?"
Juniper leaned in and exclaimed, "Yes, how did you find it? These experimental data use a lot of control groups. Fixing it might be a bit troublesome. I'll have to go back to the lab."
Catherine's slender fingers tapped on the keyboard, producing a crisp sound. "Is this the data?" Catherine asked.
Juniper said in shock, "Yes, that's it. Catherine, how did you know? This data value is very complex. I couldn't even remember it!"
Catherine said calmly, "I calculated it. You had already listed the data before. Just apply a few formulas. It's very simple. You were too anxious and forgot."
Juniper was overjoyed!
Charles, George, Richard, and Philip also looked at Catherine with adoring smiles. 'Our sister is so smart. She is a genius!'
Esme was silent. 'I can't even understand what Catherine was saying. I am sure Catherine was lying. How could she possibly calculate Juniper's data? Juniper must be pretending to cover for her!'
Esme completely forgot that she was the one who had tampered with the data.
Her face twisted, and she quietly slipped away while everyone was distracted.
The Windsor family didn't even notice that someone was missing.
Juniper showed Catherine her latest experimental results. When the fireworks went off, flower petals would also fill the sky, creating a romantic and beautiful sea of flowers!
Amidst the sea of flowers, the fireworks formed brilliant words:
"Catherine, Juniper loves you!"
