Chapter 247 Charles Loses His Cool
Catherine didn't look up, but her grip tightened a bit. "Keep staring, and I'll make sure you stay in pain for a few more days."
Alexander turned around, grabbed a thin jacket, and draped it over Catherine's shoulders. "You're just too captivating."
He knew he was being rude, but every time he saw her, his usual self-control went out the window.
Catherine put on the jacket and re-bandaged Alexander's wound, tying a neat knot. "All done."
She then cleaned up the bloody bandages and sprayed some fragrance to get rid of the blood smell in the room.
Finally, Alexander answered Catherine's earlier question. "It's not a big deal. If they want the CEO position of the Howard Group, let them have it! The CEO is just a puppet for the board anyway, and I could use a break."
'As the largest shareholder of the Howard Group, I have enough shares to control the company! But if anyone wants to take what I have, they better be ready for a fight! Plus, this gives me more time to spend with my fiancée!' Alexander thought for a moment and then asked, "Are you going to school tomorrow? Will you be a day student?"
"Yeah, Charles handled the paperwork for me."
The Windsor Family couldn't stand being apart from Catherine, and since the school was close to the Windsor Mansion, Aurora didn't want Catherine crammed into a small dorm with other students.
So, Charles took care of the paperwork, and Catherine would return to the Windsor Mansion every day.
The Galactic Aurora Collective and the Faceless Ones still had a lot to deal with, and staying at school wouldn't be convenient!
After dropping Catherine off at school, Aurora and Brandon boarded a plane abroad to enjoy some time together.
Alexander was happy with this arrangement too. If Catherine stayed on campus every day, it would be even harder for him to see her. He couldn't just wait outside the school building.
But thinking about that scene, Alexander found it kind of appealing. "Can I pick you up and drop you off at school?"
Catherine glanced at him. "No need. It's just a few minutes' walk."
"Of course, it's necessary. You don't have a driver's license, and getting home by yourself could be a hassle. You don't mind that I'm currently jobless, do you?" he said.
'He doesn't have a job right now because he set things up to ditch the company's affairs, didn't he? Everyone knows the Howard Group is still under his control, and even Felix is working for Alexander in the company! When the Howard Family members really take over, they'll find that Alexander left them a mess to deal with. Whether they use their own money to fix it or give the power back, it'll cost them big time. Alexander is seriously cunning!' she thought.
Catherine asked, "Hasn't anyone in the Shadow Syndicate ever called you ruthless?"
Alexander chuckled, propping his head with his uninjured hand, looking steadily at Catherine. "Whatever the Faceless Ones say about you, the Shadow Syndicate says about me. In that way, we're quite a match."
In fact, he thought they matched in many ways! "I heard you played the violin today. It's a shame I missed it. I hope I won't miss such things in the future."
"It was an accident," Catherine said, not planning to go on stage in advance.
Lyra's cheap tricks didn't faze Catherine. But seeing Franklin's setup, it was clear he was determined to make her go up.
Catherine didn't get the point of this. Franklin, a guy who always planned everything down to the last detail, didn't seem like the type to insist on watching kids perform.
"Aren't you going to be studying at Imperial University soon? Whatever he's up to, you'll find out eventually," Alexander said, grabbing a hairdryer from the bathroom and motioning for Catherine to come over.
"What are you going to do?"
Pulling Catherine to sit beside him, Alexander gently massaged her scalp with his uninjured hand while the warm air from the hairdryer blowing through her hair.
Their shadows fell on the window, Alexander holding a small hairdryer, seriously blow-drying her hair.
Those hands, which signed billion-dollar deals, pulled the trigger to take out enemies, or stirred up trouble in unseen places, were now doing something both ordinary and extraordinary!
Alexander was careful, not wanting to pull Catherine's hair. Her hair was smooth and silky, requiring enough patience to dry.
"I can do it myself," Catherine said.
"Then consider it a reward for your successful performance today," he said.
'A reward? The Windsor Family has indeed given me many rewards. Before boarding the plane, Brandon even bought me many violins and said he would personally make one for me. But the Windsor Family treats me like the youngest child in the family!' she thought.
"I'm not a child; I don't need such rewards."
Alexander turned off the hairdryer, leaned in close to Catherine, their breaths mingling, the distance quite close. His gaze was softer than the moonlight. "You're right; you're not a child anymore. So, can I pursue you? In an adult way."
Catherine's heart raced. Faced with Alexander's perfect face and intense gaze, she found herself speechless.
Alexander's fingers caressed Catherine's face. "Even though we have an engagement, I want to win your approval in my own way."
Perhaps the process would be difficult, but Alexander was willing to do whatever it took to win the heart of the girl he loved! "Can you give us both a chance to explore our feelings?"
If Catherine had feelings for him, he hoped she would realize it. If not, he would make sure she couldn't see anyone else but him.
Facing those deep eyes, as if the entire universe's affection and favoritism were in his gaze, she couldn't bear to refuse him! Gazing into his deep, soulful eyes, brimming with tenderness and affection, she found herself unable to refuse him.
Catherine's eyelashes trembled slightly. "Okay."
The next morning, Charles's eyes widened as he saw Alexander walk out of Catherine's room, wondering whether he had been in Catherine's room all night.
Although Charles saw Alexander go to Catherine's room in the middle of the night and didn't hear Catherine call for help, so he didn't disturb them. But now seeing Catherine and Alexander come out together, Charles couldn't stay calm. "What is going on with you two? Mr. Howard, were you in Catherine's room all night?"
Alexander smiled warmly, his demeanor gentle and refined. "I helped Catherine dry her hair last night. Catherine said it was too late, so she didn't let me go back, so I disturbed her for the night."
Catherine glanced at him lightly. "It was your own choice not to leave."
Alexander insisted that he couldn't climb the balcony with his injured wrist and spent the night on her sofa, refusing to leave.
Seeing Catherine not refute, Charles couldn't handle it!
Brandon and Aurora had just gone on a trip, and Alexander had already slept in Catherine's room all night!
