Chapter 311 I Understand You, Because I Am Also a Bitch

The sound of the slap echoed crisply through the silent classroom.

Lyra clutched her face, staring at Emilia in disbelief.

She prided herself on her prestigious background and had never been humiliated in public like this before.

Her face flushed with anger and embarrassment.

"This is a school! How dare you hit me? What college are you from?"

"I'm going to report you to the school authorities! You'll never be able to study here again!"

Emilia sneered, "Wow, you're really something. Telling me I can't study here anymore. Why don't you just banish me from Earth while you're at it?"

"What, are you the principal's illegitimate daughter? Or maybe... a maid."

"You're talking nonsense!"

Emilia covered her mouth and chuckled, "I meant you're working part-time to support yourself. What were you thinking?"

Lyra's face turned red with anger, and after a moment, she shouted, "You're shameless!"

Emilia shrugged, "So are you."

Emilia had been cursing out the Hughes family since she was three, and by five, she had mastered the art of making them jump without using a single curse word. She had lived under Anthony's watchful eye just fine.

How could a bookworm who had spent over twenty years studying compete with her?

Lyra, burning with rage, turned to see Catherine acting as if she hadn't noticed the commotion; her expression remained calm as she picked up a book and began reading.

She looked so serene and elegant, as if she were in a different world, with the light seemingly favoring her, making her face look even more radiant.

How infuriating! What was she pretending for?

Why did she have to be compared to Catherine?

"I genuinely wanted to apologize to Catherine..."

"I didn't mean to upset Catherine, please don't let Richard leave me..."

Emilia nonchalantly cleaned her ear, glancing at the book and the unsightly photos next to Catherine, and whistled loudly.

"Go ahead, report me. Let's see who's in the right. At most, I'll pay for your medical expenses for slapping you. But you've damaged my reputation, and the Windsor family's legal team doesn't mess around."

"Actually, I get you. I'm a bitch too."

"But I'm smarter than you. I worked hard to gain admission to college. Why not just focus on studying?"

Knowing she was in the wrong, Lyra could only cover her face and leave in tears after being slapped.

Catherine hadn't slept well the night before.

She regretted agreeing to go out with Brad to do good deeds.

Now she was feeling a bit sleepy.

Just as she was about to leave with Emilia, a few people appeared in front of her.

She raised an eyebrow in confusion, her beautiful eyes filled with a sleepy mist, making her look incredibly pitiful to those around her.

They knew Catherine was pretty, but they had only seen her from afar during the opening ceremony.

Being looked at by such a face made their faces turn red.

Catherine asked calmly, "Is there something you need?"

One of the girls blushed and said, "I'm sorry, Catherine! Lyra was badmouthing you, and we didn't stop her. We're really sorry!"

Catherine smiled slightly.

"I don't care. What she says and what you believe have nothing to do with me."

"No! Catherine, apologizing to you is our decision! We allowed someone to slander a classmate without knowing the full story, which showed poor judgment and caused you harm. It's our fault, and we're very sorry!"

Looking at their earnest and innocent faces, full of youthful energy and growth, Catherine smiled gently.

"I've seen this kind of thing many times. I really don't care. But I accept your apology."

The girl who seemed to be the leader said seriously, "I'm Cecilia Thorne, the class president. If you need anything, you can come to me!"

"Okay, I'll remember that."

Cecilia continued, "We'll talk to the teachers about Lyra's behavior. We hope it doesn't affect you, and that you'll keep coming to school."

Catherine raised an eyebrow slightly.

Did they think she was avoiding school because of the malicious rumors?

Catherine didn't bother to explain, and Emilia spoke up in a sweet voice.

"Catherine mustered up the courage to come to school, only to face this. She's naturally shy and introverted. What is she supposed to do?"

"If I hadn't been here today, would you have left her, a gentle and lovely girl, to face this alone?"

"By the way, if I'm not mistaken, you all avoided sitting near Catherine. Don't tell me it's a coincidence. In college, the most sought-after seats are always in the back row."

The back row seats are always the most popular, and it's normal for the front row to be empty.

Even if Imperial University students have different study habits than people like Emilia, they wouldn't hesitate to sit near Catherine and then leave.

This was blatant isolation!

Emilia scoffed, "I've seen all kinds of people. If someone insults me, I just ignore it. But just because Catherine doesn't like to argue doesn't mean you can condone it, understand?"

Cecilia remembered Lyra's malicious words towards Emilia earlier.

"I'm really sorry!"

"Forget it, I'm not in your class. You should apologize to Catherine."

Cecilia led the group in a sincere apology.

Catherine shook her head, "I've already accepted your apology. The rest isn't your fault, so let's leave it at that."

They didn't have enough information to make a proper judgment. Lyra's lies and fabrications were at least some form of evidence.

Catherine hadn't been to school recently, so they had no chance to verify the truth.

People naturally avoid harm, so it's normal for them to stay away from Catherine!

"Seeing what happened today should be enough to make you think more critically. The fact that you came to apologize shows you have a basic sense of right and wrong. I won't hold it against you."

Cecilia's eyes sparkled!

Catherine was not only beautiful, but her guqin playing had become a tutorial for everyone in the music department. She had a strong family background and a great personality, and she was incredibly understanding.

Thinking about how Lyra's actions had made such an excellent classmate afraid to come to school, Cecilia felt heartbroken!

Catherine handed her book to Cecilia, "Please give this book to Gabriella for me. I'm leaving now."

She had already taken photos of the contents and sent them to Philip.

"Okay, don't worry! This won't happen again in our class!"

"I'll be watching."

As she walked out of the classroom with Emilia, Catherine raised an eyebrow slightly, seeing a boy approach and hand a bouquet of roses to Emilia!
