Chapter 48 Vitality Pills
Felix was totally stoked!
Hearing Esme said she saved him last time, Felix was freaking out! He thought he was just getting old and losing it, but he swore the person who saved him was a super hot girl, nothing like plain old Esme. He asked Marcus, but he wouldn't spill the beans! If Felix hadn't caught that live broadcast on TV yesterday, finding out Catherine was the Windsor family's daughter and had the first dance with Alexander, he would still be clueless.
'That Marcus, what a sneaky guy!' Felix thought.
"Catherine, I didn't get you a birthday gift yesterday, but I had something ready for you!" Felix pulled out a box with a mysterious grin and handed it to Catherine.
Marcus was shocked and blurted, "Felix, isn't that the one you bought when you got married? How could you just give it away?"
"This has been a family tradition from the start, every granddaughter-in-law gets one! I thought I'd never get the chance to give this one away, but here we are." Felix's eyes were full of love, his wrinkled hands gently holding Catherine and Alexander's hands together and giving them a pat. "Open it up and see if you like it!"
Catherine met Alexander's eager gaze and obediently opened the wooden box.
A set of jade lay inside, each piece flawless. From Catherine's experienced eye, having seen countless stones, this set of jade was insanely valuable!
"This is too precious, I can't accept it," she said.
Felix immediately clutched his heart, looking like he was about to keel over! "My heart! Alexander, you gotta follow the will I wrote before."
Catherine quickly said, "I'll accept it, but it's too valuable. I'll keep it for now and return it to you later."
Felix instantly perked up, looking like he could breakdance!
"I might not be around much longer, so once it's given to you, it's yours. No take-backs! If people find out the Howard family took back a gift, how could I show my face?" Felix said.
Catherine looked at the jade in her hand, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Alexander said softly, "If you feel it's too much, just keep it for now. This set of jade is a bit old-fashioned because Felix always thought I wouldn't get married until I was forty or fifty, and by then, it would be just right for my wife to wear."
Catherine glanced at him, wanting him to take it back, but got lost in his smiling eyes, filled with emotions she couldn't quite grasp!
"You're more suited to the necklace I gave you yesterday, why aren't you wearing it today?" Alexander asked.
"I don't like wearing jewelry."
'When I go out, it's either to kill or to carry out dangerous missions, wearing jewelry would only get in the way!' she thought.
"You can wear it when you're not on a mission. It suits you perfectly!"
At the birthday party yesterday, all the jewelry she wore was spot on, making her look as dazzling as the stars!
Catherine looked at him strangely.
'Why does he care if I wear jewelry or not?'
"Mr. Felix Howard, let me give you a check-up."
"Okay, go ahead, I trust your medical skills! Last time Gavin came, he praised my recovery!" Felix said.
Seeing Catherine so focused on Felix, Marcus got all salty and said, "Hey, Catherine's still my granddaughter! I got an illness too, I need a check-up!"
Catherine grabbed Marcus's wrist with one hand and Felix's with the other, checking them both at the same time!
Alexander's eyes widened in amazement!
The legendary Phantom Doctor 'Moon' could check ten people at once, quickly diagnosing each person's condition and making snap decisions, snatching people from the jaws of death!
Her slender fingers rested on Marcus and Felix's pulses, her eyebrows furrowing slightly, like a painting.
"Marcus, you stayed up late last night. If you do it again, I'm taking away your comic books. Mr. Felix Howard, you also stayed up late and have been getting angry a lot recently."
Marcus immediately covered the comic books hidden under his blanket, "No way! You bought them for me, you can't take them away!"
"If you stay up past three, you won't be able to read anything," Catherine said.
Marcus pouted, scolded by Catherine, and said, "Got it, you're stricter than your brothers. When George checks on me, he's not this strict."
The point was, George was in clinical medicine and didn't practice the same way as Catherine, let alone accurately pinpoint his sleep time.
Catherine looked at Felix and said, "Mr. Felix Howard, you don't have any major issues, but the poisoning last time took a toll on you. Have you eaten anything you shouldn't have recently?"
Alexander got nervous, looking at Felix, and asked, "You were poisoned last time because of the wrong medication, why are you still eating the wrong things?"
Felix said, looking super bummed, "I haven't eaten anything random! I just take my meds, eat, and play chess with Marcus, and sometimes have some of the Windsor family's afternoon tea. I swear I haven't eaten anything else!"
'My meds and food are all carefully checked to prevent a repeat of the previous incident! Speaking of which, the Windsor family's afternoon tea is really delicious!'
Catherine looked at Alexander and explained, "I customized Marcus's afternoon tea, and it's beneficial for Mr. Felix Howard to eat some, no problem there. But his pulse is a bit off, can I see his medication?"
"Of course, just a sec, I'll get it for you!" Alexander took a long stride to the next room, grabbed Felix's medicine box, and handed it to Catherine.
"What is this?" She picked up a few pills from the box, frowning slightly.
Felix was also puzzled. "What is this? I don't know either, let me think. Oh, I remember, Esme brought it over a while ago, said it was good for health, some kind of supplement. She said Marcus and Lila were taking it too, so I accepted it."
The key point was, Felix got a headache just looking at Esme's dress, which was bigger than his hospital bed, so he didn't look closely and just sent her away.
He had forgotten about it these past few days, just taking it along with his other medication.
Alexander frowned and asked nervously, "Catherine, what is this?"
Catherine said calmly, "Black market miracle drug, Vitality Pills!"
