Chapter 114 Beware of Men!
Marcus and Felix were itching to get out of the hospital, but they got stood up!
Getting stood up was bad enough, but when they heard Alexander say he had gone back to Catherine's hometown with her, Marcus and Felix just shrugged it off and told them to be safe and come back tomorrow.
Basically, they didn't want to leave the hospital alone; they were dead set on waiting for Catherine to pick them up.
When Alexander passed on Marcus and Felix's message, Catherine couldn't help but laugh!
Whether it was Marcus and Felix or the Windsor family, they all really cared about her!
Both Alexander's and Catherine's phones buzzed at the same time.
Charles's angry voice blasted through Alexander's phone, "Alexander! Where did you take Catherine? Are you not coming home tonight?"
"Charles, chill out. Catherine and I are at Cloudscape Villa. You know the place, right?" Alexander replied.
Charles turned red, not expecting Alexander to catch on to his little scheme so quickly. "Are you planning to stay at Cloudscape Villa tonight and not come back?"
"Yeah, that's the plan," Alexander said.
Charles quickly hung up and immediately called Catherine, but it went straight to voicemail.
Juniper, while looking at her experiment data, gave a reminder. "Catherine, don't let Alexander fool you. If he tries anything funny tonight, make sure to kick him where it counts!"
Catherine stayed silent.
"But if you want to do something funny to him, that's cool too. Just be safe," Juniper added.
Catherine thought, 'What crazy stuff is Juniper thinking about?'
"Juniper, how did you know Alexander and I are at Cloudscape Villa?" Catherine asked.
"Alexander sent the location and a photo of you two. He even showed the photo to your grandma, so he does have some conscience," Juniper said.
Catherine then realized that Alexander had informed the Windsor family of their location, probably to keep them from worrying about her!
The fact that he could be so thoughtful, even about small things, warmed Catherine's heart.
"Catherine, when are you coming to Tranquil County to see me? I miss you so much I can't eat or sleep. I'm losing weight like crazy! Come see me, and I'll make you all kinds of chicken dishes!" Juniper said.
Catherine thought, 'In the Tranquil County lab base, those chickens for the feast are probably all numbered lab chickens. Is it okay for me to eat them?'
"I'll pick up Grandpa from the hospital tomorrow, and then I'll come see you in a few days. Samuel and Grace have prepared a bunch of gifts for you," Catherine said.
"Awesome, I'll be waiting for you!" Juniper gave a series of kisses into the phone before reluctantly hanging up.
Charles's persistent calls finally got through after Juniper hung up. "Catherine, are you not coming home tonight?"
Catherine glanced at the darkening sky, already dotted with stars.
Charles clutched his phone, wishing he could fly over and bring Catherine back himself.
Seeing this, Brandon snatched the phone from Charles and said, "Catherine, it's too late tonight. Just stay at your old house. Your grandma has been so good to you, and we're grateful. When we get a chance, we'll all come and stay!" Brandon spoke gently to Catherine while giving Charles a kick, thinking, 'This clueless guy! Catherine being with Alexander is a perfect chance for them to bond. Why drag her back? One night won't hurt! With Charles's emotional intelligence, no wonder he's still single!'
"Catherine, take your time. Enjoy yourself at your old house, and show Alexander around. Come back when you've had enough fun!" Brandon hung up, ignoring Charles's pitiful look.
"Dad, I can arrange a helicopter to bring Catherine back," Charles said.
"Don't! Go to bed! What's wrong with Catherine and Alexander spending a couple of days out? It's rare for Alexander to be so considerate. It shows he values Catherine, which makes me feel at ease! They'll have a great relationship when they get married!" Brandon said.
'Married!' The word hit Charles like a bolt of lightning. 'Catherine just got back, and now she's getting married? No way!'
Brandon slapped him and warned, "Don't mess with Catherine's love life!"
Catherine put away her phone and looked at Alexander beside her, asking, "There are only two rooms in the house. Neil said they've both been cleaned. Are you really planning to stay here?"
Neil walked into the yard with dishes and quickly spoke up, "I forgot to tell you, Elodie's bed was moved out. It got chewed up by mice a few days ago, and I took it to be repaired."
"Elodie's bed got chewed up? When did that happen?" Catherine asked.
"Just a few days ago. Since no one has been living here, things are starting to deteriorate. The bed in your room was just repaired last month, so it's fine!"
Catherine frowned slightly and said, "Since the bed is broken, let's go back after dinner."
Neil continued, "I took a nap while cooking and dreamed that Elodie wants you to stay tonight. I'm old, always dreaming!"
Catherine was speechless, thinking, 'Taking a nap while cooking and dreaming of Elodie? How convenient! Do you even believe what you're saying?'
Alexander stood up and helped Neil set the table, speaking softly, "It's okay. I'll sleep on the floor. Since your grandma wants us to stay, we'll stay."
Neil winked at Alexander and quickly left.
Looking at his spry movements, he could probably sign up for a senior marathon right now, not like someone who was so old and frail that he would fall asleep while cooking!
A few years ago, Neil even participated in the local winter swimming competition and won first place every year.
The dishes on the table were simple, but it was clear that Neil had specially prepared a chicken for them. The aroma of the chicken soup was mouthwatering.
Alexander didn't show any sign of disdain. He carefully tasted all the dishes before looking at Catherine and asking, "Did you eat these when you were a kid?"
"Yes, my grandma was concerned that I'm not getting enough nutrition, so she cooked well for me every meal."
Probably to make up for the neglect that Catherine suffered under Declan and Anouk, Elodie took extra care in raising her.
This small yard held her most beautiful memories, but thinking about it still filled her eyes with sadness.
Alexander felt a dull ache in his heart. He reached out and gently touched Catherine's hair. "I'll be by your side from now on, and your grandma will always be with you too!"
