Chapter 135 Shocked the Windsor Family

Charles didn't see that coming from Catherine, but since she asked, he started thinking. He rubbed his rough jawline and let out a sigh. "Honestly, it's a mess. When we were kids, none of us got along with Lila. She didn't like mom, and she wasn't too fond of us either. You might not believe it, but we had it worse than Esme back then. That's why Richard and Philip can't stand Esme—Lila always played favorites. She'd say Esme was a gift from God and that mom would lose you because of sin and insincerity. She called you and Aurora unlucky. If Esme wanted something as a kid, she got it. Even if she took Juniper's stuff, Lila would blame Juniper."

With Lila's extreme favoritism and her always being so hard on Aurora, no wonder the Windsor kids had no love for Lila!

"When we were little, Lila said kids shouldn't eat too much at night to grow taller. I believed it. But when Esme came to our house, I realized she could eat as much as she wanted!" Charles felt a bit embarrassed talking about it. Even now, as the head of the Windsor family business, he still remembered those missed meals!

"As for Esme, once we found out she secretly took Juniper's things and broke them. Juniper and Philip gave her a good beating, but Lila made Juniper apologize and didn't let her eat. Dad took us and moved out. On one hand, I feel like I should respect Lila as an elder, but on the other hand, it's really hard to." Charles wanted to be more tactful, but for some reason, he always wanted to share everything with Catherine! But he never felt this way with Juniper. Maybe because Catherine was his sister!

Catherine nodded. "I get it."

For Charles to say all this, it showed they had no feelings for Lila.

Catherine pulled out the paternity test report and handed it to Charles. "Charles, this is for you."

Charles looked puzzled. When he saw what it was, he jumped up, eyes wide! "Catherine, how did you get this?"

"I was just curious, so I asked Gavin to do it," Catherine replied, thinking, 'Even though Gavin doesn't know about this, I promised him I'd show him the latest pharmaceutical research report, so he'll definitely admit it.'

Charles was stunned by what he read. 'So, Lila and Dad aren't even related by blood. That means we have no blood relation to Lila at all! Is that why Catherine's been asking so many questions and worrying about how we feel about Lila? She must've been worried we'd be upset knowing this! Catherine is so kind and considerate!'

Charles almost cried right there. He forced himself to calm down and touched Catherine's face. "Thank you, Catherine. Who else knows about this?"

"I only told you. When to tell Dad is up to you," she said.

Charles was the eldest and knew the Windsor family members' temperaments best, so it was best to leave it to him.

"You did good. We need to think this through. Grandpa's health isn't great; telling him straight up might be unacceptable," Charles said, thinking it over.

"Grandpa probably already suspects," Catherine replied.

After all, Marcus was a former commander who had survived the battlefield. Catherine had asked Ethan why someone would want to harm Marcus. Ethan said Marcus had pissed off a lot of people while working on the border in his youth, people whose names Ethan didn't even dare to mention now. It could be imagined how formidable Marcus was back in the day!

Felix and Samuel had hinted at it many times. Marcus must know a little.

Charles was still a bit shocked. "How could Grandpa know?"

There was a knock at the door. Marcus was standing outside, pushed by Brandon. Marcus looked composed with his pale hair, but still sharp and spirited, his eyes piercing. "Catherine, let me see."

Catherine handed the report to Marcus. It was clearly written, enough to prove many things.

Marcus looked at it for a long time and suddenly laughed! "Well! Well! At least one of my concerns is resolved. When Lila feels better, we'll ask her who Brandon's biological mother is."

Brandon didn't expect Lila not to be his biological mother, while Esme was actually Lila's real granddaughter. He felt like he became an orphan overnight. "Is this real? Then who is my mom? Is she still alive?"

"This matter needs to be asked of Lila! But I think she won't tell the truth," Marcus said.

"No, Dad, you don't even know who you had a child with? I'm your biological son, but you don't know who my mom is. How am I supposed to find her?"

Marcus gave Brandon a kick! "Get out, you don't get to talk to me like that!"

Brandon didn't dare speak again.

Marcus said slowly, "Since Esme is Lila's real granddaughter, who is her real son? It won't be that simple. Charles, I trust you to handle this. Find out and tell me."

"Okay," Charles nodded.

Marcus then looked at Catherine. "Did Lila's illness come from those Vitality Pills?"

Catherine nodded. "Yes, she took too many Vitality Pills. Esme must have forcibly activated the drug residues in her body, causing her mental disorder."

Brandon looked at Marcus and then at Catherine. "Dad, Catherine, what are you talking about? I don't understand. What are Vitality Pills?"

Marcus gave Brandon a look and ignored his thoughts.

Fortunately, Catherine was smart enough; Brandon was a lost cause.

Marcus looked at Catherine and Charles with satisfaction and gave Brandon, who was still asking questions, another kick!

When everyone finally went to their rooms to rest, it was already late at night.

Catherine lay in bed, answering a call from Dominic.

"Catherine, I'm at the airport. See you tomorrow."

"Okay, I'll pick you up tomorrow."

Dominic chuckled, "No need, wait for me at your gallery. I want to see who dares to mess with my precious student!"

'Who dared to bully my student?' Thinking about seeing Catherine and the members of the Galactic Aurora Collective soon, Dominic felt energized! "See you tomorrow. Let me see what kind of people are in Imperia City!"

Catherine smiled warmly. "Okay, see you tomorrow."
