Chapter 184 Ambiguity

"How about we sleep together??" Alexander asked.

"Sleep together??" Catherine glanced up at him. The room was dim, lit only by a night lamp, and the soft yellow glow made his features even more irresistible.

Meeting his intense gaze, Catherine felt a flutter of nerves. "Your place isn't far. You should head back."

"You're so cold. Don't you know climbing through windows is a workout?"

'Workout? Did I ask him to scale my balcony in the middle of the night?' she thought.

"You promised to spend the whole day with me. Did you forget?" Alexander reminded her.

She had indeed promised to spend the day with him after missing dinner to visit Juniper in Tranquil County. Catherine replied calmly, "Tomorrow."

"No way. Tomorrow's the Hughes Family's stone gambling event. That's not a date."

"It's the same."

'How can it be the same! I just want to be alone with her. Even if we do nothing, just being able to see her anytime will be enough!' he thought.

"It's not the same. You can't just play with my feelings and act all unreasonable." Alexander chuckled softly. Being so close, his breath brushed against Catherine's face. Alexander always seemed to be oozing charm, and his voice was irresistibly seductive.

Catherine's face felt a bit hot, and she subtly moved back a little. "Alright."

Alexander leaned in closer, his Adam's apple moving, his voice a bit hoarse. "Can I kiss you?"

Catherine's heart was racing, and her face grew even hotter.

The sound of the door opening and someone speaking interrupted the moment. "Catherine, can I sleep with you? I can't sleep!"

Juniper knocked on the door while pushing it open, turning on the light in Catherine's room. She was greeted by a shocking scene. Alexander's collar was wide open, and he was wearing a robe, bending over in front of Catherine, who was in a pink nightgown, looking like they were about to kiss.

"I'm sorry. I was sleepwalking." Juniper quickly closed the door, then half a second later opened it again, turned off the light, and left. "I'll just sleepwalk for a minute. Hurry up, or I'll call Charles!"

Juniper was deeply conflicted.

'Should I just shout and chase Alexander away? But seeing Catherine like this, it doesn't seem like she dislikes Alexander. And what if Catherine has invited him over?' Thinking of this possibility, Juniper felt even more conflicted.

Catherine coughed lightly. "You should go back."

Alexander kissed Catherine on the forehead. "Good night. I'll pick you up in the morning."

"Good night." Catherine opened the door, and Juniper was squatting at the entrance, poking the carpet. "Juniper, come in."

"So Alexander left? Catherine, how far have you two gone?"

Catherine closed the door and lay down with Juniper.

With a serious and calm expression, Juniper advised, "Catherine, I'm just concerned about you! No matter what, you must protect yourself!"

Catherine was shocked, wondering what Juniper was talking about! Catherine's face turned bright red in an instant. She pulled up the blanket to cover her face. "Juniper, you're overthinking it!"

Juniper chuckled.

The next morning.

Charles looked displeased as he watched Alexander sitting next to Catherine, having breakfast with them.

Because of Juniper, Felix had also moved in.

The Howard Family didn't have many people to begin with. Felix's eldest daughter lived abroad and rarely came back, and his other two sons were also seldom seen. Felix was lonely.

When Felix said he wanted to move in, Marcus didn't refuse.

Felix had preferred staying in the hospital over going home, which was also a form of loneliness.

The Windsor Mansion was big enough, so there was room to arrange a room for Felix.

Charles gritted his teeth, "Catherine, I'm thinking of installing a fence under your room and getting a Tibetan Mastiff. What do you think?"

Brandon asked, "Are you crazy? Why would you keep a Tibetan Mastiff at home? Isn't there a garden under Catherine's room? What's the fence for, and what are you trying to prevent?"

"To keep out the man with ulterior motives," Charles said, giving Alexander a pointed look.

Brandon smacked him lightly. "I designed Catherine's garden myself. A fence would ruin it. Besides, how could anyone possibly climb in from there?"

Charles dodged skillfully and shot Alexander an even colder glare. "You never know when anyone might show up."

Last night, Charles had to rush back to the office for a sudden business order. When he returned, he saw a figure climbing down from Catherine's room and heading to the building next door.

At first, Charles really thought it was a thief. When he saw the person's face clearly, he was almost furious in the middle of the night!

Alexander sneaking out of Catherine's room in the middle of the night—he definitely had no good intentions!

Juniper coughed twice and looked at Aurora. "Mom, I slept with Catherine last night. I didn't hear you calling me this morning."

Aurora was pleased to see how close they were. They were the precious daughters of the Windsor Family!

When Charles heard this, his face immediately brightened, and he looked at Alexander with a much better expression.

After breakfast, Catherine and Alexander left the Windsor Mansion together, heading towards the Hughes Manor.

Alexander held Catherine's hand and said, "It seems Charles has some misunderstandings about me."

Catherine looked up at him. "Last night, when you left my room, Charles saw you."

Annie's eyes widened instantly, and she almost stepped on the gas pedal too hard, nearly speeding as she realized Alexander and Ms. Windsor's relationship progressed so quickly!

Annie excitedly said, "Miss, where would you like to go for your honeymoon? I've prepared travel guides for many countries for you and Mr. Howard!"

Catherine was silent for a moment, then spoke under Alexander's expectant gaze. "Do you consider a job change? Come work for me, and I'll give you a vacation."

Annie's eyes sparkled as she said, "Thank you, Ms. Windsor! But I won't change jobs. Mr. Howard once saved my life, and people from the Shadow Syndicate don't leave the organization."

Annie was deeply moved! If she were an ordinary worker, she would definitely agree to work for Catherine immediately. But Alexander had saved her several times internationally, and she had sworn to work for the Shadow Syndicate forever! "I really want to work for you, Ms. Windsor. If the Shadow Syndicate ever belongs to the Faceless Ones, I'll switch jobs immediately!"

After all, by then, even Alexander would be Catherine's, so it wouldn't count as leaving the organization for Annie.

Catherine understood. People from the Faceless Ones wouldn't leave either; it was a belief and reliance forged through life and death! "I'll work hard to take over the Shadow Syndicate."

Alexander chuckled. "Why go through so much trouble? If you want it, I'll give it to you. If we get married, everything I have will be yours."

Catherine glanced at him and said lightly, "I think I'll let Charles buy the Tibetan Mastiff."

Alexander affectionately touched Catherine's face. "You little heartless one."

'Wanting to set a Tibetan Mastiff on me? I went to see her in the middle of the night because I missed her so much that I was going crazy!' Alexander thought.

The Hughes Family.

Michael had made many preparations for the stone gambling event. As long as he could make a big impression in public today, he would firmly establish his position in the Hughes Family!

"Sir, Ms. Windsor and Mr. Howard will also be attending today. Should we find a way to talk to Ms. Windsor?"

At the mention of Catherine, Michael felt a faint pain in his face.

He still remembered how Catherine had publicly humiliated him last time. But Catherine's high status, with both the Martinez Family and the Windsor Family treating her like a treasure, was undeniable.

To gain inheritance rights in the Hughes Family, Michael needed strong support, and the Windsor Family was perfect!

"Sir, Emilia Hughes is also coming back today. Hasn't she always been interested in Mr. Howard?"
