Chapter 188 King of Gambling Stones? It's All Trash

Oscar, the ex-King of Stone Gambling in Stellara, and Sophia, the triple-threat actress, were both huddled under a tiny table, stuffing their faces with cream cake, each holding one in both hands.

Sophia giggled. "You guys go ahead. Don't mind us."

Catherine sighed, rubbing her temples. "What are you two doing here?"

Sophia, with a confident grin, replied, "I went to pick up Oscar. He was on a plane for over ten hours and was starving. But I'm a public figure. If I eat too much, I'll make headlines!"

There was that one time when a news story claimed she was binge-eating cream cake late at night because of a breakup. It almost made Sophia lose her cool.

She wasn't heartbroken; she just had a sweet tooth!

Oscar and Sophia both had a thing for cream cake.

Oscar reached out. "Catherine, help me out. My legs are numb from squatting too long."

Catherine reluctantly helped them out from under the table.

Oscar stretched and looked at Alexander. "Not bad looking. Where'd you find him?"

Catherine replied flatly, "Picked him up by the roadside."

"Very good. Better than the last one. I'm gonna grab something else to eat. You guys carry on." Oscar said.

Watching them sneak under another table to continue their cake feast, Catherine sighed again.

Alexander leaned in slightly towards Catherine. "The last one?"

'My fiancée picked up another guy by the roadside before?' This realization made Alexander feel a twinge of jealousy.

The more time he spent with her, the more Alexander realized Catherine was like a treasure, always full of surprises. She was amazing, and he had never been part of her past!

"Oscar was talking about someone unimportant. He misunderstood." she explained.

"Am I important then?" he asked.

Catherine glanced at Alexander, seeing right through his intentions. "Oscar already said, very good."

Jade gamblers could go bankrupt for a piece of fine jade. If she were playing with jade, Alexander would be the top quality.

It took Alexander a moment to realize she was complimenting him.

Catherine pulled out a men's watch from her handbag and handed it to him without looking back. "I modified it. If you don't like it..."

"I like it! As long as it's from you, I like it!"

Last time on the way back to Tranquil County, Catherine had casually modified his watch as a return gift for the one he gave her.

"Thank you." he said.

Catherine looked at his outstretched hand. No matter what clothes he wore, he always used the cufflinks she had given him at Healing Touch Hospital.

Anyone who didn't know might think the president of the Howard Group only had one pair of cufflinks.

Catherine met his bright eyes and took the watch to help him put it on.

Emilia suddenly appeared. "Catherine, I've got everything ready. Come on, I found a great spot."

"I have two friends, do you mind?" Catherine pointed to Oscar and Sophia, who were crawling out from under the table.

Emilia's mouth twitched. "Since they're your friends, they can come along. But why do they look so familiar?"

Emilia had watched many movies, but the image on TV and the Sophia devouring cake in front of her didn't match, so she didn't recognize her.

The Hughes Family's jade gambling event had invited many guests, most of whom came for the title of the King of Stone Gambling.

According to the rules of jade gambling, if someone liked the raw jade material being cut on the spot, they could bid for it. But since this was the Hughes Family's jade gambling event, most of the good jade would end up with them.

Emilia patted her chest. "This spot has the best view. If you like any jade material, I'll buy it for you!"

Oscar scoffed, "What good stuff can the Hughes Family cut?"

Sophia, munching on cake, nodded. "I haven't found anything good."

Catherine looked up slightly. "There are some, but not many."

Among the pile of raw jade the Hughes Family had on display, only three or four were worth noticing, and they wouldn't fetch a high price on the market.

Sophia elegantly wiped her mouth and said seriously, "Ms. Hughes, the cake is delicious. Can I take some with me when I leave?"

"Good taste! I'll pack some for you!" Emilia said.

Alexander sat next to Catherine, holding her hand, and whispered, "You understand jade gambling too?"

"No, just guessing. I'm lucky." Catherine said.

Most people indeed relied on luck for jade gambling, but Catherine was sitting with the King of Stone Gambling, Oscar, and Sophia kept calling Oscar her teacher.

Alexander restrained his expression. "Sophia looks a lot like the person who was with you last time."

He still remembered the people from Moon Laboratory who had assisted Catherine at Healing Touch Hospital, one of whom looked quite similar to Sophia.

Catherine said flatly, "Venus and Sophia are twins."

So Sophia should also be part of the Galactic Aurora Collective.

On stage, Maurice Hughes was dressed in a well-tailored suit, smiling at the audience.

Emilia whispered, "Maurice is not a good person."

Sophia's mouth twitched. "Isn't he your biological brother?"

'Who sells out their own brother like this?' Sophia wondered.

Emilia shrugged, not caring at all. "Yes, but he's indeed not a good person. Michael may be ugly and stupid, but Maurice is full of bad intentions. Catherine, if Maurice talks to you later, don't mind him."

Emilia's words carried a subtle hint.

Catherine nodded knowingly. "Got it, thanks."

Maurice's gaze swept over the audience and finally rested on Catherine. After seeing Alexander's warning look, he looked away. "Thank you all for coming to the Hughes Family's jade gambling event. Without further ado, let's welcome the King of Stone Gambling!"

The title of the King of Stone Gambling was so prestigious that even Emilia perked up to watch the stage.

Unlike the general attention, the two people next to Catherine were full of disdain for the so-called King of Stone Gambling.

Sophia sneered inwardly.

Oscar said, "What kind of person dares to impersonate me?"

A middle-aged man with a small mustache slowly appeared on stage, making Oscar's mouth twitch. "He is so ugly and he dares to come out and gamble on jade? Isn't he afraid of scaring the stones?"

Maurice clapped his hands. "This is the renowned King of Stone Gambling, Mr. Logan Porter! The Hughes Family hopes to witness the miracle of jade gambling with everyone. Today, besides the raw jade material selected by Mr. Porter himself, we invite you all to choose your favorite raw jade material to cut. If it's good, it's yours; if not, it belongs to the Hughes Family!"

Sophia scoffed, "Sounds generous, but it's just to fool outsiders. There aren't many good pieces in this pile of raw jade."

The Hughes Family wouldn't do anything that would make them lose money.

Maurice's gaze fell on Catherine. "Ms. Windsor, are you interested in selecting a couple of raw jade pieces?"
