Chapter 202 It Was Just Luck
"Prof. Davis, got any research on burns?" Juniper asked.
Gavin chuckled, looking all mysterious, and gave George a pat on the shoulder. "Nah, but I know someone who can make sure Emilia's burn doesn't leave a scar. Let me reach out."
George trusted Gavin's recommendations. "Alright, I'll wait for your good news. If your friend needs a high fee, just let me know. Emilia might not have that much cash right now."
"No worries, my friend charges reasonably," Gavin replied.
Catherine looked away from Gavin, who was winking at her. She thought, 'Making sure Emilia's burn doesn't leave a scar is simple; just need some time to whip up an ointment in the lab.'
Juniper hugged Catherine's shoulders from behind and asked, "Catherine, don't you think George is acting a bit weird? Is he doing charity work?"
'And offering to pay Emilia's medical bills, it just doesn't seem right,' Juniper thought.
Catherine nodded. "Maybe George feels guilty for almost hurting Emilia before?"
"Are you kidding? George having a conscience?" Juniper teased.
George knocked on Juniper's head and then gently ruffled Catherine's hair. "Don't let Juniper lead you astray, Catherine. Don't listen to her nonsense! I just feel sorry for her, nothing else."
"There are so many pitiful people, why don't you pay their medical bills?" Juniper teased.
"Juniper, don't make me beat you up in the hospital!" George said.
Watching Juniper and George playfully bicker, both afraid of hurting Catherine but only making light gestures, Catherine felt a warmth in her heart.
Paloma appeared in the hallway with Owen. Juniper quickly slid behind Owen and tattled, "Grandpa, George hit me! I'm going to report him for being unethical!"
Owen could see that George was just playing with Juniper. He shook his head helplessly and looked at Gavin. "Prof. Davis, how's my grandson?"
"He's doing well so far. Would you like to see him?" Gavin replied.
"Of course, I have to take a look. His parents aren't in the country, and if something happens, how will I explain it?" Owen then looked at Juniper and Catherine. "Would you two come in with me?"
Catherine knew Owen wanted Juniper to see the patient inside, who was technically Juniper's cousin.
Juniper nodded. "Okay."
"That's great," Owen said.
Paloma smiled helplessly. "Thank you so much."
Paloma's health was poor, and she almost died when her condition relapsed last year. Owen thought it over and discussed it with Marcus, deciding not to tell Paloma about it.
Owen patted Juniper's hand, hesitating, feeling conflicted as he thought, 'I know how cruel it is for Juniper not to tell Paloma, but I am also worried that telling Paloma might be too much for her to handle.'
Owen sighed. "Let's go in and take a look."
In the ward, Tiberius Harrison lay in bed with numerous tubes attached, looking at Owen as he entered, his fingers twitching.
"Just lie down and rest. It's good that you're okay. You scared me to death," Owen said.
Standing by the bed, Gavin looked at Catherine and whispered, "He's doing well, all the numbers are stable, and the surgery was very successful."
Catherine nodded slightly. "Got it. If there's any change, call me, and I'll handle it."
"Are you really not going to tell George? This is a big achievement," Gavin asked.
"If you don't want it, I'll give it to someone else next time."
Gavin's face lit up with a huge smile. The department's commendations for the next three years would have his name on them, and he wasn't about to pass that up.
Catherine glanced at Tiberius lying in bed. "Show me the report, and let's leave this place to Owen and the others."
Gavin trailed behind Catherine, giving the Harrison family some space. Tiberius's fingers twitched again as he heard the familiar voice.
Meanwhile, at the Windsor Mansion.
With the stone gambling event wrapped up, the Windsor Family's status in the stone gambling world was now unmatched. Charles was grinning from ear to ear.
Half of the jade market was theirs! Just thinking about the money they could rake in put Charles in a fantastic mood. And with the Hughes Family completely bankrupt, he felt even better. George had really come through!
Oscar was lounging in the living room, with Sophia massaging his shoulders from behind. "Put some muscle into it, didn't you eat?"
"I didn't eat. I'm an actress; I have to maintain my figure, you know?" Sophia replied.
"With the kind of acting you do, you call yourself an actress? Ridiculous! The skills I taught you are wasted!" Oscar scoffed.
Sophia swung her fist and hit Oscar's shoulder, then angrily sat to the side. Being an actress was her dream, and she knew Oscar would give her trouble once he found out.
Richard, understanding the situation, moved closer to massage Oscar while glancing at Sophia, with whom he had collaborated many times. "Are you teacher and student?"
Oscar chuckled as Richard massaged him, feeling much more favorable towards the Windsor Family. "No, I don't acknowledge her as my student."
Within the Galactic Aurora Collective, the term "teacher and student" was more about inheritance. The elderly people raised the younger, passing down all their knowledge. Unfortunately, Sophia had no interest in stone gambling.
Neither Oscar and Sophia nor Dominic and Mars acknowledged their teacher-student relationship publicly; it was more about the old nurturing the young.
Brandon was also very pleased and said with a smile, "Oscar, thank a lot, we will cover all your activities in Imperia City."
"It's nothing. Where's Catherine? I think she has potential in stone gambling. Let's see if she's willing to learn from me!" Oscar said.
The Windsor Family looked at Oscar in shock. Oscar was known as the King of Stone Gambling in the older generation, and the jade he uncovered was always top-notch. Many of the Windsor Family's jades came from Oscar.
Catherine stood at the door, looking at Oscar helplessly. "Not interested. I have a lot of things to do and no time for stone gambling. You can leave now; the hotel is all arranged."
Oscar turned and saw Catherine, meeting her warning gaze, and chuckled. "I just thought you had talent since the stone you opened yesterday was good."
"It was just luck." Catherine knew Oscar couldn't resist showing off. Seeing Dominic acknowledge his teacher-student relationship with Catherine made Oscar itch to do the same.
But Catherine wasn't ready to reveal her identity as the King of Stone Gambling to the Windsor Family just yet. Oscar had been waiting for Catherine, and seeing her return, he felt relieved.
The Windsor Family feared Oscar might get angry, so Brandon quickly stood up. "Oscar, Catherine didn't mean it that way. She really doesn't understand stone gambling; she just has good luck. Thank you for your kindness, but Catherine said she's not very interested, so let's discuss this later?"
Brandon would never do anything to upset Catherine. Since Catherine said she wasn't interested, he wouldn't let her suffer.
Oscar glanced at Brandon, thinking this father seemed decent, much better than the previous one. Oscar withdrew his gaze and waved at Catherine. "Alright, I'm leaving. I left you a gift. Remember to open it!"
