Chapter 101 Retribution, Oliver Has a Terminal Illness!

Healing Touch Hospital, Fifth Floor.

Oliver came to, feeling like he'd been hit by a truck.

After getting kidnapped, beaten, and then brawling with Steven at the cemetery, he felt like his body was barely holding together.

Steven woke up too, just as Molly rushed over. "What the heck happened? Weren't you supposed to be visiting Mom's grave?"

"Don't even get me started! That maniac Oliver threw my mom's urn! I swear, I'm gonna fight him to the death!" Steven tried to move, but his back cracked, making him wince.

Oliver, lying in the bed next to him, wasn't having it. "Steven, you're the one messing with my family's cemetery. You had Lucas renovate our place just so you could move in later, didn't you? You better give me back my old house and cemetery now, or I won't marry Clara into your family."

Molly wasn't backing down either. She shoved Steven aside and put her hands on her hips, yelling at Oliver. "Are you serious? You think the Johnson family wants that dump you call a house? And Clara's nothing, and you think she's some kind of princess? Lucas would never marry her, and he even doesn't love her."

Hearing this, Oliver got heated. "Dream on! Clara and Lucas are engaged. If you want to break it off, just wait to be laughed at!"

"Are you kidding? If Lucas breaks off an engagement with a girl picked up from the trash, who would laugh? You must cover all Steven's medical expenses!" Molly shot back.

Oliver sneered, "Fine, if that's how you want to play it, I'll call the cops!"

'It is undeniable that Steven showed up at Elodie's cemetery and used all these dirty tricks to take over the Smith family's house and cemetery!' Oliver thought.

Clara, feeling humiliated by Molly's words, felt tears welling up.

"Clara, don't cry. I'll find you a better fiancé," Oliver tried to comfort her.

"With Clara, you think you can find someone better? Get real!" Molly snapped.

The two families were ready to go at it again, right there in the hospital.

Lucas, overwhelmed by the chaos, didn't even bother comforting the crying Clara. He just wanted to slip away; he had a date with some local models and was looking forward to some fun.

Just as he reached the door, the doctor walked in, saying, "Mr. Johnson, you have lung cancer. You should start making plans for the future."

"What!" Lucas screamed, stopping dead in his tracks and turning to look at the doctor holding the diagnosis report.

"How could I have lung cancer? Sir, you need to check again. How can you be talking about preparing for the end?" Steven was almost in tears, thinking, 'I've only been feeling a bit off lately, and now I have lung cancer? And the kind that requires preparing for a funeral!'

From the next bed, Oliver burst out laughing. "You reap what you sow." Oliver couldn't stop laughing. "Clara, I heard cancer can run in families. We don't want that kind of baggage; don't marry into it!"

Clara, still teary-eyed, thought Oliver might have a point.

The doctor walked over to Oliver's bed and handed him a diagnosis report. "Mr. Smith, you have stomach cancer. Your family should start preparing as well."

Oliver's laughter died in his throat. 'What the hell? How can I be sick too?!'

The report clearly stated late-stage stomach cancer, with a bunch of medical jargon Oliver couldn't even begin to understand.

From the next bed, Steven burst out laughing. "Serves you right! Laugh at me? This is karma! Even if I'm sick, I have a son, so my lineage continues. You only have a daughter, so your lineage ends here."

Not having a son was Oliver's biggest regret.

Celeste had health issues after giving birth and couldn't have more kids, and the women he kept on the side were all too career-focused to have children.

Ignoring the pain, Oliver sat up and asked, "No, doc, what's going on? I'm still young; how could I have stomach cancer?"

Steven spat. "You're fifty-six; you're not young anymore."

The doctor ignored their bickering and said coldly, "You have a bad diet. You probably eat a lot of greasy food. Mr. Johnson smokes too much; the cancer cells have already spread. There's nothing we can do."

Oliver couldn't wrap his head around it. 'I'm very health-conscious! I save all the meat for dinner because I don't eat lunch at home and don't need to share my expensive ingredients with Celeste and Clara. When Catherine was still at home, I wouldn't let her eat dinner to keep her figure. But the ingredients were already prepared, so I couldn't not eat them, right? Over time, I often eat two dinners a night and go straight to bed afterward.'

Molly cried and hit Steven. "I told you to quit smoking, but you wouldn't listen. Now look at your situation! I don't know how you smoked three packs a day! What will Lucas and I do? He's not even married yet!"

Steven, dejected, looked at his test report, unable to believe his eyes.

Oliver made several phone calls, and everyone gave him the same answer: his illness was incurable.

Clara hesitated for a moment, biting her lip before speaking. "Dad, Uncle Steven, I just saw Catherine in the hospital. Since she's working as a caregiver for the Windsor family, she should know many doctors. I heard George from the Windsor family is a genius doctor. If Catherine could help make the connection, maybe your illness could be treated?"

Oliver perked up immediately. "I know George too. I heard that Prof. Gavin, a big shot in medicine, is taking care of Marcus. If they could take a look at me, maybe there's hope!"

"Clara, you said you saw Catherine here? Where is she?" Steven asked, his ears perking up.

'If we can contact Catherine and have her connect us with George, maybe my illness could be treated too!' Steven thought.

Clara stammered, her eyes flickering. "Catherine seems to be pregnant. She is in the obstetrics department. I didn't recognize the man with her, so I didn't dare to ask."
