Chapter 320 Vivienne's Death Anniversary Disturbance

"After all, we're counting on you!"

Catherine's eyes sparkled with a hint of amusement, making Alexander pause.

Counting on him?

"Me?"

"I met your dad once, at the border."

Alexander frowned, glancing at Beck, trying to figure out why he'd be at the border.

From what he remembered, ever since Vivienne passed away, Beck had been living a carefree life, ignoring the Howard family's affairs and their personal matters.

"I think Mr. Howard was looking for clues about your mom."

Alexander's eyes darkened, and his gaze towards Beck shifted slightly.

Catherine continued, "Back then, the Shadow Syndicate was really active at the border. Mr. Howard was probably helping you out quietly, doing what you wanted to do."

Beck's activities at the border lined up with the Shadow Syndicate's growth there. Being part of the Howard family, he had to know Alexander was also at the border.

Catherine pieced together the timeline and looked at Beck, who still wore a gentle smile.

Someone who'd risk their life to save a few kids in a blast site couldn't be all bad.

"Mr. Howard said that even if I told you, you wouldn't believe he actually cares about you."

"I guess Mr. Howard has always cared about Ms. Mae's situation too, but he never told you."

Alexander was taken aback.

He looked at Beck, who had one hand in his pocket, still looking like a carefree wanderer, with a strong smell of alcohol and graying temples, showing signs of aging.

Beck turned his face away uncomfortably.

"Don't jump to conclusions. What I do has nothing to do with you!"

"Why not just say it?"

"Do I need to report to you about what I do? Just mind your own business!"

Alexander's expression turned cold.

"Then there's no need for you to do things you think are good for me secretly.. Whether it's the Shadow Syndicate or the Howard Group, I don't need you to interfere! And I'll investigate mom's situation myself, without your help!"

"What I do is none of your business!"

The atmosphere between father and son grew tense.

Every time they met, Beck and Alexander couldn't exchange more than a few words before it turned into a heated argument.

Catherine gently tugged on Alexander's sleeve.

"Ms. Mae is watching, let's not argue now."

The anger in Alexander dissipated instantly at Catherine's touch, as if the person with the icy cold gaze moments ago wasn't him.

Beck noticed this and realized that Alexander and Catherine were likely evenly matched in the realm of romance.

He turned to Catherine and chuckled, "Catherine, you're pretty sharp. I thought you'd keep those things from Alexander."

After all, Catherine was also active at the border back then. Beck thought that most girls, to prevent their loved ones from overthinking, wouldn't bring up such past events.

Catherine smiled lightly.

"What I did wasn't something to hide. Besides, Alexander knows more about my activities at the border than you do."

"Are you trying to smooth things over between me and Alexander? It's probably a lost cause!"

Catherine shook her head.

"How you and Alexander get along is none of my business. I'm not him and have no right to understand your actions on his behalf. Just speaking objectively, I won the bet earlier!"

Beck clearly didn't expect Catherine to have such a personality.

She was different from the girls he had met before, which explained why Alexander was so invested in her.

She was composed, logical, sharp-tongued, and didn't misuse sympathy. Truly a Windsor, not annoying at all.

Beck glanced at Alexander's grim face and snorted.

"I heard from Evander that you haven't won Catherine over yet? With such a bad temper, if I were Catherine, I wouldn't want to deal with you either."

Such words were not what a father would typically say to his son.

Alexander's expression remained blank, his gaze towards Beck as lifeless as a stagnant pool.

The relationship between this father and son was truly terrible!

Catherine understood that Beck was someone who, despite caring deeply for Alexander privately, feared that Alexander would remember his kindness publicly.

What a peculiar person.

Juniper clicked her tongue, "I used to think Alexander had a twisted personality, but now I see Mr. Howard's personality is truly twisted."

Compared to Beck, Alexander's personality seemed much more straightforward!

After saying this, Beck moved to the front, speaking quietly with Felix, exuding a sense of detachment.

It seemed that everything about the Howard family had nothing to do with him!

He was here today only because of his deceased lover, returning to this cold home.

After today, he would still have nothing to do with the Howard family!

A young man in a suit walked towards Catherine, holding several exquisite boxes.

"I'm Alexander's older brother, Colt. These are gifts for Juniper and my future sister-in-law."

"This one is from me, and the other is from Alexander's second brother, Liam. Please accept them."

After thanking Colt and opening the boxes, Catherine found two identical jade carvings, both intricately detailed.

Juniper exclaimed, "They look a lot like Ryder's work!"

Colt smiled warmly, "I carved them myself. Ryder is my idol, so my style inevitably resembles his."

"Sorry, I just enjoy dabbling in hobbies."

Catherine hadn't expected Alexander's brother to have such a personality!

The carvings revealed a quiet, introspective person who suppressed all his emotions.

Juniper quickly shook her head.

"No, no, Catherine and I accept them. Thank you, brother."

Colt was the eldest among the Howard family's younger generation, so Juniper calling him brother was appropriate.

He nodded slightly and looked at Alexander.

"Don't take what Dad said to heart."

Alexander's expression remained blank.

"My heart isn't big enough to hold so much nonsense."

If he took Beck's words to heart, he would have been infuriated long ago!

Noise came from outside the funeral hall.

"I can't believe you didn't invite us on such an important day!"

Several cars stopped outside the Howard Villa, and a group of middle-aged men stepped out, with Ezekiel at the back, smiling sinisterly at the Howard family.

Felix's eyes were cold, "Today is a family matter. You're not welcome. Please leave."

"That's not how it works. We're also part of the Howard family. Why can't we be here?"

"Besides, you have outsiders here too."

The leader glanced around and finally fixed his gaze on Catherine and Juniper.

"I don't recall the Windsor family having any connection with the Howard family!"
