Chapter 258 Richard Suspected Catherine's Hidden Identity
Catherine was lost in her thoughts. "I can't really figure out my feelings. Emotions seem so foreign to me, like I've never truly felt them. But when I'm around Alexander and my heart races—could that be love? If not, then what is it?" she pondered.
Alexander, looking serious, stood in front of Catherine. He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and started wiping the blood off her hand. "Is Richard okay?" he asked.
"He's fine, just knocked out. We'll find out what happened when he comes to," Catherine replied. She was mid-sentence when she noticed Alexander suddenly pulling her hand close to his face and sniffing it. "It's chicken and duck blood. It's okay," he said.
As Alexander meticulously cleaned each of her fingers and then casually wiped the blood off his own hands, Catherine felt a warmth spread through her chest. "Thanks," she said softly.
"If you really want to thank me, can I get a hug?" Alexander's eyes sparkled with a playful glint, and his tall frame cast a shadow that seemed to wrap around her.
Catherine met his gaze, her heart pounding faster. "Okay," she whispered.
Just as Alexander's eyes lit up with joy and he reached out to touch her shoulder, Richard's voice rang out from inside the house. "Catherine! Are you out there?"
Catherine quickly pushed Alexander away and ran inside. "Richard, I'm here," she called.
Alexander looked at his empty hand, as if it still held Catherine's scent. He had been so close to hugging her. Clenching his fist in frustration, he let out a bitter smile and followed her inside.
Richard rubbed his head, looking at Catherine who was now squatting in front of him. "Catherine, why are you here?"
"Richard, never mind that. What happened with you and Sophia? How did you end up here? You've been missing from the crew for almost three days."
Richard looked shocked. "Three days? No wonder you were worried! That's on me!"
Catherine shook her head and helped him to his feet.
Sophia slowly woke up, saw Catherine and the hurriedly arriving Venus, and then fainted again.
The crew arrived, shocked by the scene, and quickly checked on Richard and Sophia before taking them back to the small village.
Richard sat in Neil's yard, downing several bowls of ramen before he finally felt like himself again. Wiping his mouth, he began to recount the events of the past few days.
That night, Richard had been about to lie down. Every time he stayed in Catherine's small room, he felt a deep sadness. The room was only as big as the bathroom in his room at the Windsor Mansion, and it felt cramped for his tall frame.
The old wardrobe was heavy and huge, and the bed was made by an old village carpenter, with wood that had become somewhat damp over the years.
Catherine and Elodie had lived in such a place for so many years!
Richard suddenly felt the urge to look around the room. After getting Catherine's permission via text, he got up.
Elodie had carefully preserved Catherine's childhood things, storing them in a box. Every test paper from her childhood had perfect scores, and a small wooden box contained drawings she had made as a child.
Richard was surprised; Catherine's drawings looked familiar. He felt like he had seen this style somewhere before.
Without thinking much, Richard walked over to the wardrobe to see what was inside.
When he opened the wardrobe, Richard was shocked to find Declan and Anouk hiding inside! He stood there, dumbfounded, wondering what kind of bizarre performance art this was.
Suddenly, tiles fell from the balcony, and a few crazed fans who had been waiting outside climbed up the maple tree. They, too, were stunned to see the people inside the room!
A scream erupted from the next room where Sophia was. "What the hell! I'll kill you!"
Sophia had been about to rest when Brent tried to sneak into her bed with some very bad intentions. She beat him bloody on the spot.
Richard shrugged. "Then we chased them all the way to the old Brown Family house. I don't know what happened, but we suddenly passed out, and when we woke up, we saw Catherine."
Sophia, after eating a bowl of ramen and drinking a bowl of porridge, put down the bowl and burped. "I was starving! Catherine, if you hadn't come, we might have starved to death there. I don't know where the ether in the village came from."
Catherine frowned slightly. "With the crew's level of security, neither the Brown Family nor the crazed fans should have had a chance to get close to where you were staying."
Richard and Sophia had inhaled high concentrations of ether. Even in Imperia City, it wasn't easy to get high-concentration ether, let alone in such a remote place. These things couldn't be coincidences; someone must have been targeting Richard and Sophia!
Catherine glanced at Brent lying on the ground. "Who hit him?"
Sophia whistled. "Who knows. We were all unconscious. When we woke up, he was like this!"
It was obvious Sophia had beaten him, but without evidence, she didn't want to go to the police!
The police took away the unconscious Brown Family members, and the crazed fans who had broken in were long gone.
Catherine looked seriously at Richard. "Richard, you still need to press charges against those people. You can't let them off so easily."
Richard patted Catherine's hair and said softly, "I'm sorry, Catherine, for making you worry about me."
Crazed fans were rampant, and Philip had said many times not to be lenient. "One year, a fan got into a car accident while chasing my car, and the fan's family blamed me. Later, I don't know how they got the information, but someone messaged me asking what if my sister became someone else's fan?" Richard smiled awkwardly. "I know, it's unlikely that my sister would ever become a crazy fan, but..."
But Richard couldn't help but think about that possibility! "I just thought, if I treated them kindly, others would treat my sister kindly too."
Sophia sneered, "Richard, are you still so naive? Even if Catherine doesn't become a crazy fan, your indecisive nature will get you in trouble sooner or later."
Sophia had known this ever since Richard gave Esme a chance to audition and play a supporting role. Even though he knew Esme wasn't a good person, Richard still wanted to give her a chance, just like those crazed fans. Richard was probably the kindest and softest-hearted person in the Windsor Family!
In the entertainment industry, such a personality wasn't a good thing! This incident was caused by Richard's soft-heartedness.
Richard raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Sophia, did you know Catherine before?"
