Chapter 297 The Truth of the Past
The ambulance arrived quickly.
They took Paloma into the ambulance, and Catherine and Juniper went to the hospital together.
Watching the ambulance speed away, Evander stood still, his expression showing a mix of worry and loneliness.
Alexander appeared beside Evander and patted his shoulder. "Uncle Evander, you should go too."
"Mr. Harrison won't let me see her."
Alexander put his hands in his coat pockets, standing there with a touch of desolation and dignity.
His expression softened a bit. "It was Catherine who asked you to go."
Catherine was going to perform surgery on Paloma today. After clearing the second personality used for self-protection, the main personality would recognize Evander.
Hearing this, Evander turned around in surprise, looking at the slightly taller Alexander.
"Go ahead. Follow the doctor's orders." Alexander said.
"Aren't you going? Aren't you worried about Catherine?" Evander asked.
Alexander turned to leave, his voice cold. "I trust her. There are some things I need to handle; you go first."
He wouldn't leave any trouble for Catherine, including the mess Tiberius had caused; he would resolve it all!
At Philip's law firm, Philip, looking handsome in a well-fitted suit, glanced at Charles sitting opposite him. "Charles, you came without a word; I had an appointment with a client."
"Just passing by, thought I'd drop in. Also, the corporate legal department needs your assistance with something."
Philip's assistant opened the door and politely said, "Mr. Windsor, the client has arrived."
"Have her wait for me in the conference room."
Philip gestured to Charles, indicating he could make himself comfortable in the office, and quickly left.
Charles casually picked up a case file he had previously asked Philip to handle.
A few papers fell out of the folder. Charles bent down to pick them up and put them back in order, noticing the text on the papers.
His pupils dilated slightly as he quickly absorbed all the content on the papers.
Moments later, Charles knocked on the conference room door.
Philip, discussing the case with the client, looked up in surprise at Charles.
Charles said, "Sorry to interrupt. I've had your secretary prepare all the materials for reporting Tiberius's assets. I'm heading to the hospital; you handle the rest."
Philip frowned, "Didn't we already report him? Why are you going to the hospital?"
"This time it's everything, including Tiberius himself. Tiberius kidnapped his aunt to threaten Juniper and Catherine."
Philip didn't have time to think about why Charles was discussing family matters in the conference room.
Philip stood up abruptly, spilling water from the cup in front of him onto his expensive custom suit. "What? Is Tiberius out of his mind?"
Charles glanced at the familiar figure and said calmly, "If all goes well, he shouldn't have the chance to live."
The client, Gabriella, also stood up, facing Charles's calm yet angry expression. Gabriella clenched the documents in her hand.
Odette, nearby, asked anxiously, "Is Ms. Windsor okay? How could this happen?"
Philip rubbed his temples, "Sorry, today's meeting needs to be postponed. I can't stop worrying about my two sisters. Today's consultation is free."
Odette quickly said, "No, it's fine! Can we go with you? I'm worried about Ms. Windsor !"
Gabriella calmly said, "I also want to see Catherine. Please take us with you."
One was Catherine's teacher, and the other was her employee. Especially Odette, her eyes sparkled when she mentioned Catherine!
Now hearing that Catherine might be in trouble, Odette was more anxious than when she heard about the inheritance division!
Philip wanted to ask Charles's opinion, but when he looked up, Charles had already left. He quickly followed with Gabriella and Odette!
In the car, Odette was still concerned about Catherine.
"Mr. Windsor, Ms. Windsor will be okay, right? She is so capable; she will be fine!"
Philip called Juniper and Catherine several times but couldn't get through, becoming increasingly anxious.
Moments later, Juniper called back.
Hearing her crying on the phone, Philip became even more worried and anxious! "Juniper, don't cry. Charles and I are on our way! How's Catherine?"
"Catherine is fine, and so am I. Catherine and Mr. Davis are in the operating room together. Philip, I'm so scared."
Philip sighed in relief upon hearing they were okay.
He loosened his tie, exhaled deeply, and gently comforted Juniper. "Don't be afraid, sweetie. We're almost there!"
Hanging up, Philip punched the leather seat in front of him, filled with anger! "Damn it! Using Juniper to threaten Catherine, making her call off the engagement! Do they think the Windsor family is a joke?"
Charles calmly said, "As long as Catherine and Juniper are okay, we'll decide what to do after we get the full story. For now, don't tell Grandpa and Mom and Dad."
"Okay, I understand."
Marcus was old; hearing this suddenly might be too much for him.
Brandon and Aurora were still abroad; telling them wouldn't help and would only cause more trouble.
Odette also sighed in relief.
"Mr. Windsor, is Ms. Juniper Windsor the one who was on TV before? Is she also your sister?"
Juniper's research achievements had earned her an honorary medal from the American Academy of Sciences. The TV broadcast clip was still saved on every Windsor family member's phone!
"Yes, I only have two sisters, Juniper and Catherine. If anything happens to them, I'll blow up Tiberius's grave!"
Gabriella's eyelid twitched, and she tentatively asked, "What about that girl named Esme?"
"Esme? She was never part of our family! Grandpa sent her to prison. She kept spreading rumors about Charles and Richard, and tried to steal Catherine's things. She's terrible."
'Sent to prison? And what does spreading rumors about Charles mean?' Gabriella thought.
Philip didn't know Charles's ex-girlfriend was right in front of him and kept complaining. "Ms, Gray, you have no idea. She even went to Charles's ex-girlfriend, making up all sorts of nonsense, causing Charles to remain unmarried."
Charles coldly said, "Philip, shut up."
Philip patted his mouth, "Sorry, Ms, Gray, I tend to talk too much. Anyway, Esme's actions were unforgivable, just like her grandmother."
Odette chimed in, "I remember now. The person who caused trouble at our gallery and got scolded by Catherine was also named Esme. Gabriella, is that the same person you mentioned?"
Gabriella felt a bit awkward. "Probably."
Just a few words were enough to prove that the person who came to her back then wasn't even considered a Windsor.
Gabriella clenched the skirt on her lap, looking at Charles sitting in front of her.
Charles's gaze was steady, his jawline sharp and firm, exuding a restrained brilliance. His shirt and tie were immaculate, with a touch of coldness and ruthlessness.
Charles seemed to sense Gabriella's gaze.
He slightly turned his head, his tone indifferent, not knowing if he was talking about the present or the past. "It's okay, it's all in the past. Don't dwell on it."
