Chapter 61 Fortunately, Not Like Your Dad!
Catherine stayed quiet, looking a bit awkward.
'I've been swamped with the Galactic Aurora Collective and making meds for Felix these past few days. Haven't had a second to think about Alexander. Besides, he's a grown man now. Does he really need me worrying about him?'
Alexander could read her like a book. He chuckled, his laugh so smooth it made her ears tingle.
"Alright, just remember to miss me in the future, okay?"
"Got it."
Alexander grinned, holding her waist as they swayed on the dance floor. The cruise ship's banquet was lit up like a Christmas tree, packed with big shots from all over, but everyone made way for Alexander and Catherine to have the spotlight.
At the edge of the ship, a young woman in a sharp suit carefully helped an old man with white hair to his seat.
"Mr. Martinez, be careful. I'll grab you something to eat."
"No need, I'll just sit here."
This old man was the famous writer Samuel Martinez, a big deal in the literary world with a ton of awards under his belt.
"Who's dancing? They look kinda familiar."
"I don't know, but if you're curious, I'll go ask."
Samuel shook his head but kept his eyes on the dancing girl. Her green chiffon dress floated like she was a fairy, and every step she took was like a piece of art, just perfect!
The more Samuel watched, the more pumped he got. He told his secretary, "Go get her. I wanna see if she'd be down to be the muse for my new book!"
"Yes, sir. Please wait."
Seeing this girl gave Samuel a jolt of energy and youth! It reminded him of the old days, and suddenly, his writer's block was gone!
"Miss, Mr. Martinez would like to have a chat with you. Do you have a moment?"
Catherine looked at the old man by the window, a bit surprised.
'The literary master Samuel, who’s always on the front page of the Stellara Literary Journal, isn't he my grandpa on my mother's side?'
Aurora's parents went abroad for health reasons recently, so they missed Catherine's birthday party!
Alexander saw Samuel too and led Catherine over to him.
"Mr. Martinez, long time no see," Alexander greeted.
"Alexander? Wait, aren't you engaged to my granddaughter? Why are you holding this young lady? Don't think you can mess with my granddaughter just 'cause your family's powerful! I'll knock you out! Now, tell me, what's your deal with this pretty young lady? I saw you holding her hand and hugging her just now!"
Alexander stayed silent.
Samuel was a war correspondent back in the day, and he had got a fiery temper. This was him being chill.
Catherine obediently greeted, "Grandpa, how are you?"
Samuel was stunned.
'Wait a minute! What did this little girl call me? Grandpa!'
"Are you Catherine? I thought you looked a lot like Aurora when she was young! Luckily, you don't look like Brandon, or it would be a disaster. Look at your brothers, especially Richard, who looks just like Brandon—so ugly it's unbearable."
Catherine was helpless.
'Even though Richard looks the most like Brandon, his face is considered the most handsome in the entertainment industry!'
"Come, sit by me. Anna, go get Catherine something to eat. Alexander, stand there. Looking like Felix, you can't be any good!"
Anna stifled a laugh, bowed apologetically to signal Alexander not to be mad. Samuel was just like that.
"Yeah, Ms. Windsor, what do you want? I'll grab it right away," Anne asked.
"Anything, really. I've already eaten."
Samuel held Catherine's hand, his face lighting up with a big smile. "Catherine, who gave you your name? It's fantastic! Just hearing it, I knew you were a Windsor!"
"It was from my grandmother in the foster family."
Samuel glanced at Alexander standing by the table, frowned, and waved his hand. "Sit down. Standing there like that, what does it look like? Is this how Felix taught you?"
"Yes, thank you."
Alexander knew Samuel's temper and his long-standing beef with Felix. Given his engagement to Catherine, it was normal for Samuel to be wary of him.
This respectful attitude made the wrinkles on Samuel's face smooth out a bit, clearly satisfied!
'This Alexander has good taste. If I find out he's messing around and wronged Catherine, I'd definitely break his legs!' Samuel thought.
"Catherine, what are you doing here? Why did you come?" Samuel asked.
"He brought me," Catherine answered.
Alexander explained, "Grandpa, the scenery on this part of the high seas is nice. I brought Catherine out to relax and introduce her to people. After all, Catherine is the future mistress of the Howard family."
Samuel gave Alexander a satisfied look but snorted coldly, "Smart move! Catherine, I just got back and missed your birthday party. Don't be mad at me!"
"I won't. You look pretty good. Is your headache getting better?" Catherine asked.
Samuel's gaze softened as he looked at Catherine, smiling, "Did Aurora tell you? It's much better. Grace has been working on an important experiment lately, and communication is cut off. Even I can't see her! She doesn't know you're back yet. She'll be thrilled when she finds out!"
Samuel was so eager to share the news of Catherine with Grace.
"You don't know that Juniper had to take me in when I saw her last time! Tell me, is she spending her life with me or with the lab?" Samuel teased.
Though Samuel said this, his eyes were filled with longing.
Alexander sent a few messages on his phone and soon received a confirmation. He looked up, his face showing a gentle smile, and said, "I've arranged it. Grace can come home this weekend."
"Really? Alexander, you finally did something right! Catherine, come home with Juniper then. Grace will be so happy to see you! I just hope it doesn't mess up her experiment!" Samuel said.
Catherine nodded obediently and said, "Juniper seems to have returned to Tranquil County yesterday. She prepared gifts for you all. I'll bring them to you this weekend."
"Good. You are so thoughtful."
Juniper was raised by Samuel, and he had a deep affection for her. Seeing Juniper and Catherine getting along so well put their minds at ease!
"Though I feel ashamed to say this, Catherine, Juniper is innocent. When she was young, we suspected she wasn't the child of Brandon and Aurora and took her for a paternity test. The result came back a positive match! We were confused for so many years, and that's why you came back so late!"
Talking about the past, Samuel sighed with emotion.
"Why did you suspect? And why was it positive?" Catherine asked.
Samuel replied, "She was just too smart. I didn't think Brandon could have such a smart daughter, so I took her for a test!"
Catherine was silent.
"I'm not talking about you, Catherine. You're smart like your mom, which is expected! As for the positive result back then..." Samuel said with some hesitation.
