Chapter 32 Let's Throw a Party for Catherine!
Catherine watched Philip swipe his card like a pro, feeling a bit of a headache coming on.
'Whatever, thinking that part of this hundred million dollars would end up in Charles's pocket makes me feel a bit better about making some easy cash off Philip.'
'Next time, let Charles's mall rake in more profit!'
While Philip was checking out, Catherine whispered to Simon, "Get someone to keep an eye on Oliver, and place some people near Elodie's grave. Don't let anyone mess with her tomb."
Catherine was always worried that Oliver might do something disrespectful to Elodie.
"Got it. You're bringing your brother here to boost sales, huh? I was wondering who made me close the store early!" Simon joked.
Catherine stayed quiet.
Philip signed with a flourish and waved at Catherine, saying, "Catherine, let's head upstairs and have dinner with Charles!"
"Alright."
Philip bought Catherine a bunch of clothes and was in a great mood as he led her to the sky restaurant where Charles had taken her last time.
Inside the restaurant, Charles had already set up the dishes. Dressed in a sharp suit, he stood by a flower-covered table and gentlemanly pulled out a chair for Catherine.
"Thanks, Charles."
Charles clapped his hands, and the waiters came in, placing a series of appetizers in front of Catherine.
"Try these, Catherine. They're new from my restaurant."
The cakes in front of her were beautifully made, each one small and adorable, making them hard to resist.
Catherine took a bite with a small gold spoon and praised, "Delicious, there seems to be some lemon juice added, making it refreshing. This dessert is a bit off. The cocoa powder ratio overshadows the cake's original flavor."
Charles nodded, calling over the head chef.
Jacks, from Françaisia, wearing his chef's hat, was initially unhappy about someone criticizing his desserts.
'These people couldn't even appreciate how delicious my desserts are!'
'I heard that the person criticizing his desserts is Ms. Windsor who had just returned home. What does a girl from the countryside know about desserts?!'
Jacks followed the waiter out, seeing Catherine elegantly dining at the table.
Jacks was shocked!
'Isn't this the genius girl who had previously given me culinary advice in Françaisia?'
'Thanks to her guidance, I won the international culinary competition!'
Thinking about Catherine's comments on the desserts, Jacks felt a sting on his face!
Catherine was also surprised to see that pastry chef was Jacks.
"I'm sorry, I'll practice my culinary skills more. The recipe for this dessert was a bit off!" Jacks apologized.
Charles said calmly, "Take it away. Catherine said the cheesecake was good, so keep that one. No need to serve the other desserts."
"Yes!"
Jacks wiped the sweat from his forehead and bowed to Catherine, leaving with the failed desserts.
'How embarrassing!'
The restaurant manager rushed in, stopping in front of Charles, and said, "Mr. Windsor, there are a few police officers here to see Ms. Windsor."
Charles and Philip both looked over, frowning slightly, looking serious and tense at the manager.
"Looking for Catherine? Did they say what it's about?" Charles asked.
"No, they said Ms. Windsor would know."
Charles frowned and said, "Could it be about the kidnapping? But why didn't they contact us? I was the one who reported it, and Philip is Catherine's lawyer. Why are the police looking for Catherine directly?"
Catherine got it.
'So it was Charles who reported the kidnapping, which is why Celeste and Clara got nabbed.'
"I don't know either. Let the cops in," she said.
Charles and Philip exchanged a look and told the manager, "Let them in."
Three detectives in uniforms strutted in and stood in front of Catherine. Two of them flanked her, unfurling a banner.
[Thank you, kind citizen Catherine. The International Police Alliance salutes you!]
The three officers saluted Catherine and said in unison, "Thank you for your outstanding contribution to Operation D! We salute you!"
Catherine stayed quiet.
'I've told them a million times I don't need these banners and I have no place to put them!'
"Next time, don't send these. I have no place to put them at home."
Back when she was with the Smith family, she got one, and Celeste had chewed her out for bringing such an eyesore home, saying it clashed with the Smith family's decor.
Charles immediately stood up, wearing a warm smile, and said, "Catherine is joking. We have plenty of space at home. Thank you so much!"
Philip stepped forward and took the banner, grinning like he'd just won a case, and said, "Thanks for coming all this way. Catherine didn't get involved in any dangerous stuff, did she?"
In his mind, for the Interpol to personally deliver a banner, it must have been a pretty risky operation.
Since the banner didn't specify the operation, it must be top-secret!
They were more worried about Catherine's safety than the banner.
Catherine quickly explained, "No, I just saw some shady people at the bar last time. I thought something was off and called the cops."
Charles extended his hand and shook the leading officer's hand, exuding the aura of a boss, "I'll see you out."
"Please stay, we need to get back to our duties after delivering the banner!"
After sending off the police, Charles realized his forehead was covered in sweat and he said, "Catherine, you really didn't do anything dangerous? While I'm proud of you for getting the banner, we don't want you to risk yourself. Your safety is always the most important!"
Thinking about the last time he met Catherine at the bar and she was in danger, Charles was terrified!
'If I knew, I would have kept Catherine by my side all the time!'
Catherine quickly explained, "Charles, I didn't do anything risky. I just made a phone call to the police."
Charles and Philip breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at the bright red banner, Charles started thinking about where to hang it!
Philip said, "Hang it in my office!"
Catherine stayed quiet.
The people who visited Philip's office were billionaires and important government officials, as well as many internationally renowned figures. She felt embarrassed for them to see her banner.
"Let's take it home first. Catherine is so amazing. We should throw a party to celebrate!"
Catherine stayed quiet again.
'This is the smallest banner I've received. Previously, when I participated in international rescues, I even got many honorary medals. If I bring them all out, wouldn't the Windsor family have to display them all?'
Seeing the excited looks on Charles and Philip's faces, Catherine swallowed her words.
'Forget it, once they find a place to hang it, I'll quietly take it down later!'
