Chapter 205 Taking Over Blade of Dusk
Emilia pondered, 'I'm really curious about the Windsor Family! I had no idea that asking a few more questions about them and showing some interest in George's work would make him think I'm super into medicine. Do I look like someone who gets all that medical jargon?'
Luckily, a nurse popped her head in and called George away. "Dr. Windsor, there's an emergency patient!"
"On my way." George quickly left the room, and Emilia took the chance to ditch the medical literature he gave her and took a deep breath.
Next to her was the new phone Catherine had given her; her old one had turned into a piece of junk in the fire.
Emilia couldn't figure out how Catherine managed to restore everything from her old phone. If she didn't know for sure that her phone was destroyed, she'd think this was her original one. Seriously, the Windsor Family kids were all geniuses!
Emilia bit her fingernail out of habit as she looked at the info on the phone and dialed a number Catherine had saved.
'Catherine is so thoughtful! She not only restored everything on my phone but also saved a bunch of numbers for me: hers, Juniper's, and even George's,' Emilia thought."Catherine, can you come with me somewhere?"
Catherine replied, "I'll come pick you up."
"Great! I'll wait for you at the hospital entrance!"
Half an hour later, Catherine showed up at the hospital entrance, looking cool and confident in a black biker jacket and riding a motorcycle.
Catherine took off her helmet, got off the bike, and ran her hand through her slightly messy hair, her locks fluttering. Emilia, wearing an obviously oversized coat, hobbled over to Catherine.
"You didn't tell George you were leaving?" Catherine asked.
"No! He went to save a patient who tried to slit their wrists. If he knew I was leaving, he'd definitely nag, but I really want to go to the Heritage Storage Depot." Emilia was clearly fed up with George's endless medical advice.
Catherine raised an eyebrow at Emilia's coat. If she remembered right, George had worn that coat the last time he came home.
Catherine didn't ask further, giving Emilia a considerate glance. "Let's take a cab. Your injuries aren't suitable for riding a motorcycle."
"Okay!"
Heritage Storage Depot.
The abandoned warehouse after the explosion was left with only a few shaky unfinished buildings, with multiple layers of police tape cordoning off the area.
Emilia, holding her phone, made her way to an underground bunker according to the agreed location. "Catherine, over here."
Catherine looked at the bunker in front of her. Her instincts told her there were several people inside, likely members of Blade of Dusk. "I won't go in. I'll wait for you here."
Emilia nodded, crouched down, and disappeared into the bunker entrance.
Blade of Dusk had split into two groups years ago after the sudden incident with the previous leader: those who followed the Hughes Family and those who secretly protected Emilia. Those who followed the Hughes Family either died or ended up in prison.
In less than ten minutes, Emilia came out, her eyes red, holding a box in her hands. "These are gold bars my mom left for me. I have a lot of money. With the money I've hidden myself, I won't need to work for the rest of my life!"
Emilia's mood was low, her eyes filled with conflict and reluctance. Catherine saw through her thoughts. "You want to take them with you?"
"Yes, they've always taken care of me. Without them, I wouldn't have survived in the Hughes Family. But I don't know if I can do it." Emilia couldn't bear to see Blade of Dusk disbanded; it was her mother's effort.
"Taking them with you means your life will be different from before," Catherine said.
Emilia blinked, a smile spreading across her face. "No problem! If my mom could do it, so can I! Come on, being a mafia princess is super cool, right?"
She thought for a moment, clutching the box in her hands. "And I don't want to be useless. Thanks for saving me. At first, I approached you for self-protection, but I really like you! It was that damn Esme showing up that made me realize I don't want to be a useless person hiding behind others! Don't worry, Catherine. From now on, Blade of Dusk is mine!"
Emilia didn't want to be controlled by others. Even when George's unwavering back shielded her, her heart raced a bit. But she wanted to be someone like Catherine even more.
Emilia grabbed Catherine, pressing her bandaged face against Catherine's. "I've figured it out! Instead of expecting others to protect me, I should protect myself! My fate can only be controlled by me. From now on in Imperia City, you and Juniper are protected by me!"
Catherine smiled warmly. "I'm looking forward to seeing a different Emilia, but you're always welcome to visit our home. My mom has already prepared new pajamas for you."
"She is so considerate! I'll definitely come!" Emilia hugged Catherine's neck and whimpered. As if making a decision, she turned and re-entered the bunker. This time, Emilia didn't come out again.
Catherine stood on the ruins of the Heritage Storage Depot, overlooking the bombed-out unfinished buildings, while police in the distance continued their search.
Dubhe emerged from a bush and approached Catherine. "Miss, I've checked these people. They are loyal, but it will still be difficult for Emilia to control them."
After all, Blade of Dusk was a mafia, and Emilia, a pampered young woman, would need to put in a lot of effort to fully control Blade of Dusk.
"Take good care of her, don't let anything happen to her," Catherine ordered.
"Already arranged. There's an underground fight club nearby that has some connections with Blade of Dusk. Emilia will likely have to endure some hardships!" Dubhe said.
"It's okay, it won't be too hard," Catherine said, thinking, 'If the hardship leads to sweetness, it's worth it. With Emilia's personality, controlling Blade of Dusk won't be easy, but I will help to make it easier!'
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
After finishing an emergency surgery, George came out of the operating room and turned into a private ward, only to find the patient who was supposed to be there missing.
'Where is she?' Just as George was about to call someone, Catherine's call came in.
After he heard Catherine explain the situation, George's eyebrows twitched. He almost gritted his teeth, replying from his throat, "Got it!"
He had never seen such an unruly patient. An unnamed fury surged from George's chest, the inexplicable anger making him momentarily dizzy. George changed his clothes and strode out of the emergency room.
Several doctors saw him hurrying and were shocked. "Dr. Windsor, where are you going? You haven't rested for over twenty hours, you should rest first!"
"Going to find a disobedient patient and ask her if she has a death wish!" George shouted.
The border.
A blood-stained tactical boot stepped on the face of a nearly dead person, the sharp blade slicing open the trachea. The person exuded a cold aura, murderous intent palpable, his gaze alone enough to kill.
Ethan, sitting opposite, looked at the scene, his eyelids twitching as he stared at the young man across from him. The man was travel-worn, with a hint of red in his eyes, coldly staring at Ethan.
Ethan chuckled, straightening up to meet his gaze. "Nightfall, you finally came! I've been waiting for you for a long time!"
