Chapter 279 Oliver and Celeste Approach the Windsor Family
Lyra brought Oliver and Celeste to the Moonlight Mansion at Starry Residence.
Moonlight Mansion and Sunlit Mansion were the crown jewels of Starry Residence, surrounded by all the other buildings like they were the center of the universe. There was this massive, fancy fountain out front, totally over-the-top. And the sculptures around it were made of pure gold!
Seeing Oliver's jaw practically hit the floor, Lyra was even more convinced he was a total country bumpkin, completely clueless, and probably Catherine was the same. "These sculptures are pure gold, but the Windsor Family just uses them to show off. They're not worth much."
'Pure gold, and not worth much?!' Oliver thought, finally getting a sense of just how loaded the Windsor Family was.
Moonlight Mansion was surrounded by lush greenery, and the garden was full of super expensive flowers and plants.
Lyra didn't leave right away after dropping them off; she wanted to stick around for the drama.
A Rolls-Royce pulled up, and Oliver got all excited. "Catherine must be back!"
The car door opened, and out stepped a pair of slender legs, followed by Catherine's cascading hair as she bent over.
Her face was cold but stunning, young yet with a touch of captivating charm. Her expression was so icy, it made your heart skip a beat.
Oliver had never seen Catherine look so beautiful, thinking the Windsor Family must be treating her really well. "Catherine! I miss you so much!"
Catherine frowned slightly. "Oliver? What are you doing here?"
"Catherine, Celeste and I came to see you, of course!"
Catherine thought, 'Oliver and Celeste showing up here is just because they found out my true identity and got jealous. Clara must have contacted them, hoping to get something from the Windsor Family. I know exactly what kind of people Oliver and Celeste are—greedy, shameless, and only interested in petty gains. Now that they know the Windsor Family's status, they won't be satisfied without getting something from the Windsor Family.'
Juniper got out of the car and looked at Oliver and Celeste. "Catherine, how do these two still have the nerve to show up? They even went to the newspapers to cut ties with you before. What are they after now?"
Oliver's face turned a bit sour. "It was all a misunderstanding, Catherine! That newspaper thing was because the housekeeper didn't know any better. Celeste and I would never do something like that!"
Lyra chimed in to help, "Catherine, after all, they are your parents. It's not good to be so heartless."
Catherine glanced at Lyra indifferently. "Oh, it's you. Looks like the stuff in your rectum has gone to your brain again. Last time I thought you were just being stupid because your rectum got lost. Now I realize your brain must be filled with intestines."
Lyra was silent.
Catherine's words reminded Lyra of how she had been humiliated by Catherine in front of all their classmates before! "Catherine, I'm just telling the truth. Your parents are old now. How can you be so unfilial? They raised you for so many years, and this is how you repay them?"
Catherine crossed her arms, lifted her chin, and gave Lyra a sidelong glance. "Moral blackmail? Sorry, I'm not a filial person. If you like these kinds of parents, they're all yours."
After saying that, Catherine didn't spare Lyra another glance.
Juniper added, "Bringing unrelated people into Starry Residence isn't allowed. I'll be contacting security. This person's sense of security is seriously lacking."
From the fountain onwards, this was considered the territory of Sunlit Mansion and Moonlight Mansion.
"Private estate, no entry without permission. Trespassing on someone else's property—how many years do you think that gets you?" Juniper asked.
Lyra was immediately scared. She thought, 'I've always admired the scenery from afar, itching to get a closer look but never having the chance. 'Such a huge villa, in the prime real estate of Imperia City, and it all belongs to Catherine! It won't be too much to ask Catherine to give us this house, right?' Oliver and Celeste thought, their faces filled with disgusting greed.
Alexander and Evander stayed at the resort to handle the Howard Family matters, while Catherine and Juniper left first.
Juniper looked at Oliver and Celeste following them. "Catherine, should we throw them out?"
"No need, let them in. It's easier to deal with them behind closed doors. Outside, I worry about dirtying the flowers Aurora loves." Catherine's face was expressionless, but there was a hint of coldness in her eyes.
The last incident with Ezekiel and Santino had scared Charles, so he arranged for a team of mercenaries to act as bodyguards at Starry Residence.
Since Oliver and Celeste dared to come, Catherine didn't mind giving them a 'proper' reception!
Following Catherine into the Windsor Mansion, Oliver and Celeste were almost dizzy from the opulence!
A single painting from the Windsor Family could buy several of the Smith Villas in Serenitia City.
The new housekeeper of the Windsor Family looked at Oliver and Celeste in surprise. "Where did these beggars come from? Are you here to apply for a housekeeping job? Your clothes are too dirty. Don't come in!"
Oliver was still sitting in a wheelchair, with mud all over the wheels!
Celeste almost fainted as she saw the housekeeper's designer uniform, thinking the Windsor Family was just too wealthy!
Charles, dressed in casual clothes and holding a cup of coffee, came downstairs and saw Oliver and Celeste standing at the door. "Catherine, how did they get in? Are they bothering you? I'll kick them out right away."
Catherine gently shook her head. "It's fine. Let them stand at the door."
Understanding Catherine's meaning, Charles said no more and went to fetch Marcus.
Marcus, calm and imposing, gave Oliver and Celeste a single icy glance that made them shiver. Seeing these two reminded him of how badly they had treated Catherine and Elodie!
If Oliver had ensured Elodie a happy life and a worry-free old age, and given Catherine a happy childhood, the Windsor Family would have compensated the Smith Family!
But Oliver's treatment of Elodie and Catherine was nothing short of abuse!
Marcus took a deep breath to calm his anger. "Catherine and Juniper, come to my side!"
Marcus was worried that Catherine and Juniper might get too close to Oliver and Celeste and catch their bad luck! "What are you here for?"
Oliver's face was full of a fawning smile. "We just miss Catherine and want to see her."
