Chapter 26 The Johnson Family Could Go Bankrupt
In the surveillance footage, you could see every move inside Box 8 crystal clear.
Catherine, who owned X Bar, had set up a special room just for herself from the get-go, a room where she could keep an eye on all the private rooms, and only she had access to it!
She had tweaked the surveillance system herself to catch every little detail in the corners.
Every move Eli and Ethan made was right there on the screen.
Alexander frowned a bit, pointing at the box in Ethan's hand on the screen, "Are they really planning to make a deal here?"
"Looks like it," she said.
"Call the cops. If they pull this off, who knows how many families will get hurt."
Catherine nodded, "Already did. This video is being shared directly with the international narcotics police."
Alexander looked a bit surprised.
"You got connections with the international narcotics police?" he asked.
"Yeah, about three years ago, I worked with them on a job in Northern Myanterra."
Alexander's eyes narrowed. 'I was there three years ago too!'
"Did you save someone in Northern Myanterra?" he asked.
"I've saved a lot of people."
Catherine's brows furrowed slightly, her eyes shining brightly in the dim light, reminding Alexander of that time three years ago when he almost fell off a cliff, and a masked girl reached out to him!
'That girl had the same eyes! So it was her!'
Catherine looked at the surveillance, her gaze falling on Charles in the corner downstairs.
'Why is Charles here?'
She looked at Alexander and said, "Let's split up. You head to the third floor. There's another group of drug dealers meeting there. I'll check downstairs."
Alexander grabbed Catherine's wrist, his handsome face full of concern, "Be careful. I'll take you home later."
"Okay."
In the booth, Charles and the guy in the suit across from him were drinking and chatting happily.
Catherine squeezed through the crowd and found Jared Wells, who was dancing, and she said, "There are a few bombs on the second floor. Get someone to defuse them."
"Why are you everywhere? I just started dancing for five minutes, and now I gotta defuse bombs!" Jared said.
"Stop whining and get it done. I'll give you half an hour."
As the second-in-command of the Faceless Ones, Jared was one of the best bomb defusers in the international mercenary corps. Except getting thoroughly beaten by Catherine a few years ago, he had no rivals.
"Half an hour? You're underestimating me," Jared said.
"There are twenty-three bombs," she said.
Jared was shocked.
'If so many bombs trigger a chain reaction, not just the bar, but half the district would be leveled! Half an hour to defuse twenty-three bombs? That's too harsh!'
"If you don't finish, I'll dock a year's salary," she added.
'A year! All bosses are indeed heartless capitalists!'
Jared dared not speak out in anger!
Charles's voice sounded behind Catherine.
"Catherine? What are you doing here?"
"Charles."
Charles pulled Catherine outside, protecting her from the chaotic crowd, carefully bringing her to the booth.
"Let me introduce you. This is my little sister, Catherine. Catherine, this is Mr. Dixon."
As he introduced them, Charles personally cleaned a glass until it was spotless and poured Catherine a glass of juice.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming here?"
"Just came to have some fun."
Charles's mind flashed with the annoying face of Lucas, frowning, and he asked, "Are you alone?"
"With a friend. He's upstairs."
'Upstairs, so she didn't come to meet Lucas.' Charles breathed a sigh of relief.
"Catherine, it's not that I don't want you to have fun, but the outside world is really dangerous. Next time you go out, make sure to tell me in advance. Never go out alone!"
Catherine was speechless.
She wanted to tell Charles that she was eighteen, not eight.
But seeing Charles's worried and pained face, and his almost tangible concern, Catherine felt a warmth in her heart.
"Okay, I'll listen to you."
Nolan, who had been ignored, was extremely surprised to see Charles like this.
'The ruthless oil tycoon in the business world, a negotiation expert for billion-dollar contracts, is like this in front of his sister?'
"It's getting late. I'll take you home," Charles said.
"No need. I already told my friend. He'll take me home."
Charles nodded and reached out to ruffle Catherine's hair.
Out of the corner of her eye, Catherine noticed a few plainclothes officers and gave Charles a sweet smile, saying, "Charles, my friend is here. I'm heading out now."
Charles felt a bit uneasy but didn't want to upset Catherine by being too controlling. He gave her a long list of reminders, watching as she joined a few people in the crowd.
Nolan was super surprised!
Charles turned around, and the warmth on his face vanished, replaced by a cold hardness.
"Mr. Dixon, about the Johnson family in Serenitia City, I want them bankrupt within a month. Make it big. I want everyone to know about their bankruptcy."
To the Windsor family, the Johnson family in Serenitia City was just a small fry, not worth Charles's personal attention.
Charles had sought Nolan out because of the tens of thousands of marketing accounts he controlled.
The Johnson family was indeed unlucky. Their bankruptcy had caught Charles's attention.
"Rest assured," Nolan said.
The Interpol officers stood in front of Catherine, speaking respectfully, "The organization received the video you sent. This time, we will definitely capture Eli and Ethan!"
Thanks to Catherine's help, many of their anti-drug operations had gone smoothly!
Catherine received a message from Jared that all the bombs had been successfully defused.
She nodded to the officers and sent a message to Jared.
[Announce that X Bar is closing for the night. Clear out everyone except for Box 9 on the fourth floor, no matter the cost.]
[Yes!]
All the speakers in X Bar started broadcasting the clearing-out announcement!
"Why are they closing so early today?"
"Let's go. Don't you remember the last time they cleared out and someone caused trouble? Those people's families went bankrupt."
X Bar had its own special security department, with over a hundred burly men standing at the door, sternly escorting all the guests out.
Charles's car was parked outside, and he waited for a long time without seeing Catherine.
Nolan reassured him, "Mr. Windsor, Ms. Windsor probably left with her friend. I just saw all the guests leaving the main area."
Charles was almost frantic!
He had called Catherine dozens of times, but she didn't answer!
Just as he was about to rush in to find her, Catherine called.
"Charles, I didn't hear my phone earlier. I'm on my way home now. See you at home."
"Okay, as long as you're safe. I'm heading home now!"
Alexander's car merged into the main road of Imperia City, blending into the traffic.
He cast a sidelong glance at Catherine's face, the light falling on her soft and beautiful features, like a serene painting of a beauty under the lamp.
"Tired? You can take a nap. I'll wake you up later."
Alexander's voice was incredibly gentle, with a few blood droplets on his cuff, blending with the dazzling ruby cufflinks, intertwining ruthlessness and tenderness, like an angel and a demon whispering together!
Alexander took a bag from the back seat to Catherine.
Inside the bag were some fruit milk and cake he had brought from the bar.
'Tonight's operation had been quite extensive, and I hadn't considered whether Catherine had eaten. Seeing her pale face, she might have low blood sugar. It was my fault for not planning everything in advance,' Alexander thought.
Catherine looked at the bag on her lap.
He still had a lot of blood on him, indicating the crisis they had just faced. 'Yet, he still thought to bring me something to eat?'
Catherine suddenly felt a bit emotional about what kind of twisted opponent she had encountered, perhaps, also a friend.
Alexander watched her take small bites of the cake, her fair profile slightly puffed up, her flawless skin smooth and delicate, looking as cute as a little hamster.
"Catherine, do you know the Howard family in Imperia City?" he asked.
"Do you have a mission?" she asked.
Alexander touched his nose and coughed lightly.
"Sort of."
Catherine shook her head, "I don't know them. I have no interest in high society."
Her wish had always been to live a simple and stable life, without any desire to investigate those top-tier families.
It wasn't until she returned to the Windsor family that she realized the Windsor family was one of the three major families in Imperia City!
